Perfect site for our group. Easy to find, water source close, neighbors were respectful. Ground very hard bring a hammer for tent steaks.

Sites are very spacious. I usually have 12-20 people in my group including two smaller campers, 4-5 large tents and a 12 x 20 EZ up and there is still plenty of room. Sites are not on top of each other...pretty spaced out. Barnes filed has 2 vault toilets which are decent enough, nut you can also drive over to Dolly Copp campground right next door if you want flush toilets and coin operated showers. Only 6 miles to Gorham if you are need to get into town and lots of hiking trails within 5 miles. I have been going here every fall for at least 5 years and will continue to.

Everything is great, wish there is a regular bathroom for the kids

Excellent experience for our group of 12. Enjoyed proximity to big hikes and the general vibe of live and let live at the campground.

Do not camp there with your tent.

The campsites, every big. Most have excellent shade and non-shaded areas. Bathrooms are close to all sites.

Overall great experience. 004 Campsite size- Very spacious. We were 15 people with 5 tents and 4 cars. there was space for at least 5 more tents. Bathrooms- No Shower! just 2X2 toilets. (DollyCopp is 2 min drive from the campsite which has clean full bathrooms) Zero Network Coverage- AT&T, Verizon, & T-Mobile.

The trip and site were great. The only problem was the group to our left in site 004 had like 40-50 people and were excessively loud.

A nice secluded spacious site just a good experience

Great campground for larger groups. The inclusion of plenty of picnic tables and fire pits is also a plus. We also found the pit toilets to be airy and clean. Our group found trailheads to Pine Mt., Imp Face, Mt. Washington - West, and Chocorah nearby and easy to access from Barnes Field.

Perfect for youth groups but not family camping.

The campground was great. The twenty-plus thirteen year old boys in the camp next to us were not.

Always a peaceful trip. Love the stars at night. Campsites are very large and private. The only downside from some folks is Pit Toilets. I love using the hand pump for water, It’s a 2 person task. Pure mountain water. It’s a true rustic camping experience.

Barnes Field campground is a small wooded campground with the sites along a short loop road. The sites are well maintained, clear, and fairly level... surrounded by woods. There are pit toilets. No water (there was an old school water pump that didn't work).

This is one of only two campgrounds in the White Mountain National Forest system that is for group camping (wish there were a couple more). It's a great location for access to some wonderful hiking and exploring. Very basic campground with pit toilets and a hand-pump well. My main problem with this campground is the reservation system. The map of the campground is terrible and does NOT accurately show the size and spacing for the sites. Also, the capacity, number of cars allowed and other details are not consistent with the WMNF info, and the reminder email we received. The group had to reserve 3 adjacent sites that were completely different, and the one we were interested in (and had used before) was not even shown in the reservation system earlier in the year, but it is there and being used. Someone needs to take the time to make an accurate map, take photos that one can see, and make sure that all website info is accurate and consistent with what is actually there.

always a great campsite and the new fire rings are great, however many of them need to have ash removed from previous campers.

Great sites - plenty of space and secluded from other sites. Water and bathrooms near by and easy access to the Whites.

It was a bit noisy the night I went- not sure if it's usually like that, but other than that it was great! Beautiful spot to stay before a hike.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
