This site is most private in campground, at least at night when there is no one putting boats in the water as it is near boat ramp. However, trees and a small hill are between you and the other sites.

I had a 21 ft trailer and it was by far the largest, I would not have wanted anything bigger. The sites are really big for tent camping. Right on the water hardly any road noise.

Enjoyed my stay, but sites are right next to each other and not private at all. Wonderful views of the water, and water access even, but very tight campgrounds right next to the road. Stayed on a Thursday night and when I arrived around 5pm, 3 other campers were present. A 4th showed up before i went to bed, but when i woke up at 4:30am the campground was completely empty. Each site has a bear container box that is huge. I recommend using it instead of storing food in your car like me, as a mouse crawled its way Into my car and had a feast of cliff bars.

Love this small, accessible site. Perfect for families who can make do without running water and flushable toilets.

This is a wonderful campground on a rushing icy blue river, only 8 sites, two clean toilets, bear boxes for ice chests, bear-proof garbage and recycling bins! We saw a few mice, but no bears. Some sites are very small, but we had sites more spacious sites, 5 and 6. All sites have water views. Site 7 has room for a large RV or two large vehicles. Site 8 is at a lower level near the boat launch. Bring drinking water. We had a bicycle with us and enjoyed riding around the campground and nearby Diablo streets. Although the T-Mobile map showed coverage, there was absolutely no coverage on T-Mobile or AT&T. The nearby town of Newhalem has cellular service and limited free WiFi. The Newhalem Campground has more amenities, but you can't beat the views at Gorge Lake! This includes daytime views of the river and lake as well as night-time views of plentiful stars in the dark skies. Who needs a 5-star hotel when you can stay in a 500-star campground? PLEASE, if you have a reservation and something came up so you won't be using it, do a favor to all the people who struggle to find campsites in our overcrowded national parks and forests, and CANCEL. Even without a refund, you are performing a good deed!

You can't beat the view of this campsite, hearing the water roaring in the morning. The vault toilets are very clean, it was my first time camping and the site was quiet enough for those that wish to get away from busy camping sites. Each site comes with a bear locker and the sites are safely marked.

Beautiful campsite right next to the lake

This tiny campground was lovely. Only 8 campsites make this a very special spot. The campground was basic but clean and well maintained. The scenery is beautiful, the trees provided ample shade from the heat and the sound of the Skagit River ensured a great sleep.

Nice, small campground. Vault toilets were clean enough to eat off the floor. All sites were along river.

Always a great campground with excellent staff taking care of the campers and facility.

Beautiful spot! The campsites could use more vegetative screening between sites. Cold water!

Very easy access to gorge lake and river nearby, clean restrooms, lots of bear lockers and easy parking. On a downside - lot of cars lurking around to find a free spot, driving fast and raising dust into air.

Campsites are small and bathroom noise unavoidable as is road noise Campsites by lake/river lovely view River trail washed out at about a half mile, some notice of that washout would help Clean and presence of rangers helps with security

Campground is small and well maintained. Pit toilets were basic, but clean and had toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Two very short but pretty trails from the sites out to the river. Wouldn't recommend site #8 - downhill from the bathroom and right next to the boat launch so lots of traffic. Overall a nice quiet alternative to the larger campgrounds in the area.

What a beautiful place . Small camp grounds is such a special location . Facilities minimal but you could tell the staff tried to manage it well . Also very nice rangers . Be sure to check the forecast and fore reports before going out .

Great spot next to the Lake. Diablo is a cool place to explore as well, just be respectful of the tenants.
@DashG710 · Camped on Jul 28, 2021 at Campsite #8
I believe we had campsite #8 which was on it's own down by the boat ramp. This allowed us to be away from the rest of the campers with a little added privacy. The site was nice and flat but quite a bit of vehicles would use the boat ramp area to turn around causing a lot of dust to enter our campsite. There was also another camper who gutted her fish on the boat ramp... certainly a great way to attract animals to OUR site and not hers. In hindsight, I would have picked a site on the upper level (1-6) even though they were pretty close to each other. I'd pick #8 over #7 since it's in the middle of the roads on the upper level. Sites 1-6 have a beautiful view of the river and cliff whee I'm sure the roaring rapids dampens all noise. I'd go with sites 3-5 if all options were open!

Nice location near the moving water. Due to our location (#8) we had a minor inconvenience due to toilet smell. Kids were not bothered with that at all.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
