The site was not as it showed. We got to the site someone was camping and finally left. We stayed Sept 24 and I cancelled the remaining week. We got email on how much our refund would be. Cancellation never showed up

The Yakima Skyline trail is fabulous!Unfortunately, not all campers adhere to the quiet hours. Always somebody with a generator running at night.Thanks for the new vault toilet!

We arrived last weekend for a group river float and stayed for 3 days/2 nights. Of the 3 walk-to sites, Site A was closet to the river however had the most sandy, uneven and prickly-bush ground. Hard to find flat ground for our tent. Next year we will be choosing Site B, as it was the most spacious, had plenty of solid, even ground to set up a tent and pop-up canopy. and had the best view in my opinion. Pros: We put our floats in at Umtanum and floated 4 hours down the river (we had 5 kids or it would have only taken 3 hours), and we ended up right back at the shore of our camp site. Having a semi-private spot at our site to access the river was nice. The other campers respected quiet hours and we had no trouble with excess noise. The views are amazing! My eyes couldnt believe the beauty of the canyon. Cons: Noise from the train in the early morning hours, the bathrooms were VERY stinky but not sure how that would be avoided. I was also surprised by no sink in the bathroom. Which brings me to no running water whatsoever. The ground at our campsite was extremely prickly and sharp, no walking without shoes. The bushes popped the tires of every single bike we had (all 4 bikes)! The stickers were no joke. The bugs. They are terrible at night and very attracted to light. The bugs may change with the season? Not sure.Overall we will definitely be staying at Big Pines again. If this is your first time be aware that this is very primitive campground. No power, running water, cell service, etc.

It was a fine campground as long as you are okay with hearing road noises all night. The big reason why Im rating this so low is that I made a reservation a month in advanced (had the confirmation and everything) and when I got there (~7:30 the night of the reservation) someone else was in the reserved site. They found it as a first come first serve and paid the fee for it! It wasnt their fault at all since the site itself had no reservation card to show it had been reserved, even though we had reserved it here. When we went to the hosts site to get it sorted, no one was there. Luckily, the people in our site were super nice and let us double up with them, because I wasnt sure what we were going to do otherwise. We both paid for the site! Not sure who was at fault, and I was unable to talk to the host (since I couldnt find them), so Im left with a bad taste in my mouth here! Bummer cause its a beautiful area.

Plan for wind, rain, heat, and fun! Its always a toss uo on what the weather will do. Adventures every time! A large group of us go 3 to 4 times a year... For the last 20 years.... It's always memorable.

Overall, it is a nice area but there are no trails to speak of for hiking and the weeds were overgrown and tinder dry. The tent only camping spaces were completely unkept. They could do better.

We camped for one night and it was not enough! Next time we will stay longer. Beautiful and clean sight. Bathrooms are well cleaned and lots of toilet paper. We saw the train once while we were eating dinner and 2x in the morning.

Great campsite, not all sites are shaded. Sites by the river are hard to get. Nicely maintained.

Rosa campground is probably the worst out of all of the Yakima River Canyon campgrounds for vehicle camping. You can't park your vehicle near the campsite as the parking area is separated by large rocks/boulders. This means if you are van camping, you'll be doing it on asphalt. The campground is also a busy day use area, its real intention so, you are mixed up in that crowd. Lots of comings and goings, and it feels like you are camping in a parking lot, because you are. Having said all of this, the price you pay for a few uncomfortable nights of camping is made up by the fact that you are right on the river.

Being next to the boat launch was quite enjoyable. Camp site was well groomed and the people around us were all very nice.

The campground at Umtanum was well-maintained, with clean pit toilets. We are looking forward to the new expansion along the riverfront.

Great hike across highway on TP Jim trail. Great views on top. Hour and half up. Hour down. Campsite was well maintained and staff friendly.

The campgrounds were disappointingly trashy. There were Burger King sacks and cig butts all over our are.Especially in the bushes near the river where our dogs discovered used toilet paper.

Close by the Yakima River, and a beautiful old railroad bridge. Watched fly fishers floating on the river, a beautiful setting. No Verizon cell service. No privacy between sites, but only one other site occupied when we were here just after Labor Day. A little bit of day use but once it got close to nightfall, very quiet and remote-feeling. Day use visitors also use the pit toilet.

Fun camp, great views, stars at night, perfect bird watching, other wildlife too. Be mindful of rattle snakes. Decent hikes but overgrown and not maintained. Pit toilets. Busy day use area. We floated down the Yakima River. Close to both Ellensburg and Yakima. We camped in our suv. Cant wait to come back!

This was an. ExperienceThe camping area at Umtanum is very small, not too much privacy because they are close to neighbors. There was no shade at all, very dry and very very windy. The second night the bugs were out of control. Thousands of gnats attracted to all light. Im sure we all came home with bugs in our noses. Although there were vault toilets, and a ranger that came through regularly to check the restrooms. The facilities were disgusting. Poop all over the place. Also the vents were next to our camp so we had the aroma of hot crap all throughout the day. The only positive review I can leave was the river being right there! It made it very easy to launch our rafts and boats to float the amazing river. We float the Yakima every year but have never camped at these spots. Next time I will probably just make the drive back home or find somewhere else. So if you dont mind eating and swatting bugs away from your face all night, this is your spot.

Nice little "walk-in" site (barely any walk). Well maintained. Had a couple deer walk through in the morning. Mostly RVs and campers at other sites but you won't feel out of place in just a tent. There is some road and rail noise in the morning, but not terrible. Even had enough cell service for shooting off a couple texts.

I've been going here for 25 years, even before the big flood. I've noticed the pavement on the sites are crumbling because there isn't enough gravel to hold up the shoulders. I'd hate to see expense pavement go to waste because of a lack of cheep 5/8ths minus. Bathrooms were clean and stayed that way all weekend. Garbage cans never filled up. Had a great time.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
