I have camped here since I was very little. The past 3 years the campground has gotten to the point to where there is trash everywhere, at the dock and laying up the sides of the road in the campground. I remember the park rangers being nice and speaking to you when they were in the campground. The female ranger I see comes in speeding and just doesn’t seem very nice. She goes way to fast on the road and in the campground. The gate attendant and the host are great and very nice, I just wish the park rangers were a little nicer and the campground a little cleaner.

This is a small Campground, but my family has spent summers here since I was little. It will always have a special place in my heart and I love it here. Septic service would be really nice in the future, but honestly it was a great week of camping and kayaking.

We have camped here for as long as I can remember, but this year there was a HUGE price hike with literally no changes to the campground. Considering there’s not full hookups, I wouldn’t expect them to charge the same price as campground with full hookup plus amenities. The campground host Wilson is absolutely incredible though. He’s always friendly, helpful with anything we need, and great with the kids.

Please note that Lower Twin Campground should not be confused with Cranesnest Campground which is right at the dam. Several sites including Virginia's official site listed the Cranesnest Campground address as address for Tower Twin Campground. "Need to Know" section of registration page was blank but one thing you must know is BRING YOUR OWN FIREWOOD!!! They do not sell firewood and there are no businesses to sell you ANYTHING within a 30 minute drive from this campground. It's remote site with no retail businesses nearby. Campsites offered power but very little privacy and consists of the majority of sites along one long row along the side of a creek. Bathrooms were clean and included two showers next to bathroom stalls. We camped at site 020 Labor Day weekend and heard traffic into early morning hours as campers will drive their boats from boat slip at end of campground road into late evening and morning hours. Didn't see any hiking trails or activities besides the boaters on the lake at these campgrounds. Breakers Interstate Park was about a thirty minute drive from Lower Twin and offered great views and many hiking trails and is definitely worth the trek if you get tired of hanging around the campground. BTW- I bought my firewood day two at the Breakers campground store to give you an idea of just how far away I had to go to find firewood.

I love this little campground. My family has camped here for years. Only electric hookup and some spots are hard to get into with an RV, but it was a great trip. They bathrooms were always clean and trash picked up daily.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
