This spot here was absolutely amazing. We had about 8 people in our group and it was very spacious. 4 Tents really fit comfortably. 4 vehicle's fit in the driveway. I would absolutely bought this spot if I could. 10/10. Besides that the entire Payson Lake area was absolutely astonishing! Do it, doooo it, dooooo IT.

The map shows C10 as being on the south side of the road where the pull through site is, but it is actually on the north side of the road where there is a back in. Fortunately, the site is angled well and it was not hard to back in, and we had enough space, but could be a problem for someone else. Trailer 28'. Truck 20' parked partly under the 5th wheel trailer overhang.

We didnt get in the lake due to the algae bloom which was a bummer but there was a lot to do anyways! We hiked nearby and walked around the lake. Our family camps a lot and the bathrooms in this campground are the CLEANEST of any campground Ive ever been to. Everything is well maintained the roads are nice and the trees keep everything a little cooler.

We didn't like our first camp site that we reserved so they let us pick out a better one and didn't charge us. It was such a quiet campground and so peaceful.

The campground is beautiful, lush and full of beautiful trees and bushes. The sites were all very nice too. It was quite pleasant to the eyes. The neighbors were very close, and very loud into all hours of the night. Not to many adhering to the rules of the campground, and didnt seem the hosts did anything about it. Also people all over letting their dogs run free, one pooped in the middle of our campsite. We had neighbors that made us not want to use a campground again. Lake was beautiful and the water level was very high, we were able to jump off the dock which was fun! It was the middle of the week and it was very busy still, probably close to 60 kayaks or paddle boards all in the lake at the same time. It was good to get out of the heat and into some water. It was nice to have big picnic tables at our site. We had a double site number 27/28 and it had great shade in the late afternoon early evening. The site has no electricity and no water hook ups, and for the cost of the site it really should have those. We camped in a popup camper with 3 little kids and 2 adults and got a double site because we wanted more space, Im glad we did. There were mostly tent campers here, and from the sounds of things they were very urban, not many used to sharing a facility and being respectful of others and their space and sleep. So be aware. As beautiful as it was, we wont use the campground again. We will just boondock up the road a little ways and just buy a day pass to go play at the lake next time. Much cheaper and hopefully a little quieter at night.

The area is very beautiful and 20 degrees cooler than the valley. The walk around Payson Lake is lovely with plenty of butterflies, dragonflies, and duck families to watch. The camping site was clean and shady. Bathrooms were close and clean. Driving up the canyon to see Devil's Kitchen was a nice surprise to see a "mini Bryce Canyon". Very scenic areas to pull over to see and take pictures. Down the canyon as you leave stop at The Grotto and hike to the falls. I would say the hike is a medium one about a mile up, wear hiking shoes and a hiking pole are helpful.

We had a horrible night of no sleep! The campsites are so close together we could hear the millennials blasting their music and having a conversation until 2 AM. No camp host insight. We will never never never go there again and will tell everyone we know this place sucks.

EXCELLENT!!!! Ready to go back now. The water was turned off which made water supply tight but we managed. The rest was AMAZING!!!

Site was clean and well-maintained. Only complaint is that the space was a little too small for our tent. We made it work though!

Nice camp site, great to see the lake full. Nice paved trail around the lake. Need to get the tables refinished or replaced BAD. Very rough and can cause bad slivers. But WORSE thing of all is all the many cattle and cow manure everywhere in the campground. Need to get them out!!!!

I have been coming to Payson since I was a kid and have always enjoyed it, the hosts have always been great until this year! One lady, I think she was maintenance, she drove the golf cart around yelling, had short dark hair. Anyway she was extremely rude!! She slammed out truck with her fist as she was walking away cause the tire was 2inches on thhe dirt,now mind you the night before she said it was ok. We had to turn off our quiet generator but the camp across from us was allowed to party until 2am!

Such a quiet peaceful spot. The lake is beautiful along with surrounding scenery. Perfect for kayaking or paddle boarding. Theres a beautiful trail that goes around the lake. Campsites were easy to navigate and big spots. Bathrooms were super clean too. I dont usually do reviews, but this place was actually really great!

The lake was full and it was beautiful. The picnic area by the lake was a bit run down since we had been there five years ago - tables cracked and falling apart. Grass area is more like a weed area. But.....the lake was great and the kids had fun! The camping area was clean. Restrooms clean.

The lake was beautiful and the campsite was well taken care of. The camp host was very nice and helpful. We went with some family and as a party of 8, had the max amount of people for the site. We had a good time there except one thing. The main reason I am giving a lower rating is because we had a hospital level campfire accident with one of our kids. While we realize it isn't the Camp's fault that the accident happened, we believe it could have been prevented if we knew that it was small because we would have chosen a larger site with more play room. When we got there, we found that our site, C13, was tiny and there was no indication on the website that it would be. There wasn't much room for moving around, let alone playing. It would have been a good site for a few grown people with no kids. We also had issues with fitting our second car into the parking space. The email said that we could pay to have a second car there so we thought that it would have had more parking space. All of the other sites we saw had plenty of room to park a second car and even for kids to play or explore. If I had one suggestion I would say that there is a note added on the website page for the campsite C13 (and any others like it) that it is a small site best suited for one car and less campers. All that being said, we do plan on coming back, just to a different campsite with more room.

Please really need management with Quiet time. I guess Huge family group has been family reunion and having fun. But really loudly speaking Spanish and play music until 1 AM. I was really stressful. Other than that, it was great location and nice weather

Dogs barking all night long did not sleep

The Payson Lake campground did not have cows grazing in that campground, however, a nearby campground Maple Lake had cows grazing IN the campground. This meant that there were cow pies in the campsites and resulting flies. We understand that cows can graze in the National Forests, but they should be kept out of developed areas.

Climate change and mismanagement have destroyed these beautiful mountain lakes. No boating or swimming. The campground is run down and not well cared for. We still have fun but the quality is sure dropping. We really wish we could reserve past labor day.
@DouglasN431821 · Camped on Aug 11, 2022 at Campsite #C1
Beautiful area; we come every year. The bathrooms were very nice. It was a great camping experience. The only reason we knocked it down to 4 stars is because one of the hosts had a large dog she could not properly control and she was unpleasant. Also, if the camping spot can hold 8, why do we get charged for 2 cars?

Great time and fun place to visit.
@JesseB3600980 · Camped on Aug 5, 2022 at Campsite #B29
It was a great campground. We felt the sites were a bit close to each other, primarily because of all the dogs barking and generators humming. Because of the thick vegetation we could see them but the noise was disappointing.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
