Bear Canyon Campground, Nephi, UT

Bear Canyon Campground is located in the Spanish Fork Ranger District of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest (50 min south of Spanish Fork, UT) with an elevation of 6,638 feet. There are a total of 3 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid April to mid October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 25 and 30 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Fees range from $86.74 to $121.08.

Beautiful area! The site itself had a nice picnic table and fire pit. Outhouses were clean and stocked. There was no water but could be because the time of season we went (late fall/nights were already freezing). Would go again for sure!

Toilets were closed. Only the composting ones open. So two toilets' for three group areas. Maintaince people came bay and tried to remove us from our spots. They are very rude.

This is our 3rd consecutive memorial weekend at the same campsite at Bear Canyon. Every year the restrooms have been locked, but MORE IMPORTANTLY the picnic tables are in terrible, even dangerous, condition, considering we have young children and grand parents. The fire pit is at ground level with many uneven spots, making it imminent someone may stumble into the fire. If the camp fees weren’t so HIGH for this site, we might rate differently. In other words, our group alone has expended nearly $1700 for 10 nights spanning three years, and NO IMPROVEMENTS have been made! It’s both shocking and disappointing. That said, we return because you can’t beat the location and scenery, hiking opportunities, etc. I have photos available of the tables and would like to share if you can provide a worthwhile email address of someone who cares and WILL respond. Thank you for the opportunity to comment.

I didnt see on the original site that we needed to hike our stuff to our camp. Husband was not thrilled. Lots of cow poop all over the camp site. The group sites are better and closer to the bathrooms. Plus you do not need to hike to those. We camped in July, not busy at all and not much water left in the creek.

The individual sites at “ hike-in” sites. Schlep stuff from your car over a bridge and just next to Salt Creek. Looks cool, but we had a roof top tent. Luckily it was a weekday. Great space, quiet.
