Loved our campsite

This site was accessible, close to the restrooms, and felt tucked away from the road. It was also shaded. The best part was the babbling creek that runs through the campground.

We loved the spot we were in. It was right by the stream and had plenty of room. My only complaint was the bathrooms. They were awful. I only used it when I absolutely had to. I get they are vault toilets, like a lot of campgrounds, but these were pretty bad.

This is the worst group campsite we have ever reserved. The tables in the eating area were in terrible condition with boards bending down and paint chipping off. The site is supposed to be for 200 people and was really expensive. We didn't need a site that big, but it was the only one we could find available at around 6 weeks before our event. The area for the tents does not look nearly big enough to hold tents for 200 people. The tent area is just out in the trees, no clearly delineated areas, so we kind of just put the tents wherever the ground was flat enough. The bathrooms were were the worst part. The boys bathroom toilets broke and wouldn't flush and got filled with poo before we could tell the young men to stop using them. The camp host came and locked the bathroom up so everyone had to share the women's bathroom. The bathrooms were also just disgusting. They looked like they hadn't been used for months. There were spiders in their webs in the corners, dead bugs all over the floor. It was not worth the $500+ we spent to reserve the site. We will never camp there again. We do not recommend it at all.

Joe, the camp host, made this an amazing experience! He was alway close by and willing to help with anything we needed. He truly became just part of the family! I can't wait to go back and do it again! The place was beautiful with beautiful shade trees everywhere and amazing hiking and horse back riding trails. Great location as it was close to town.

Lovely campground with lots of shade and a nice hiking trail.

Pros: We loved the campsite, it had refreshing shade, gorgeous trails and creek side walks, and the campsites themselves were clean. The shade provided privacy and we thoroughly enjoyed the area! The price was also fantastic for the area! Cons: When we arrived, our site (which we reserved and paid for in advance) had been taken by another camper who was reluctant to move. Luckily, the host did insist (politely) on him moving, but this made it so that we weren't able to set up my mom's tent until after dark (the camper took a long time to take down his site). The camper put his receipt/paid notice literally on top of our reservation tag, so that was frustrating that it was allowed. The worst, though, was that the bathrooms were absolutely filthy and horribly smelly. We've been camping in countless sites our whole lives, we've seen some gnarly restrooms, but I am telling you, even my 3 year old refused to use the restroom (without knowing our reactions). He kept holding it in because he didn't want to go in there. It was really gross. We did tell the host when he checked in and he said he'd take care of it, but as far as we could tell, the only change was the addition of an odor eliminator, which helped a tiny bit, but it didn't help the unsanitary condition of the toilet itself, or the floor, walls, etc. it was bad. Obviously, if you have your own restroom, you don't need to worry about that, but if not, that's a consideration to make when reserving. Lastly, we received emails that there wasn't any water at the site during our reservation (kind of a bummer, but out of anyone's control, no big deal, we packed it in), but it turned out there was water available and we didn't receive any updates. We discovered it ourselves and used the tap during the camp. I would have loved to know that it was working somehow so that we could use it for the whole camp to wash hands, etc. (messy toddlers and preteen explorers). Over all, we had a wonderful time! It was beautiful.

Super nice campgrounds! I loved show shaded the campsite is and a majority of the campsites are from what I saw. There isnt really anything to do in whiting. I would suggest bringing activities to pass time or bring other people because camping is always fun when theres more! There was a trail right behind our campsite that people were waking up early to jog/walk. Which was a little bit annoying just because it would be 6 AM and Id be woken up by joggers having loud conversations. But other than that it wasnt too bad. Unfortunately there was no running water the dates that I was there so the nearest bathrooms were closed. The closest outhouse we had to drive to every time we wanted to go because it was a bit far from our campsite. Our mistake was probably getting campsite number 1 lol it was right next to the camp host. It wasnt bad it was just far from the bathrooms and the there were loud joggers. But other than that it was a very enjoyable stay and we would definitely come again!

This site is not great. Way too close to site #21. Not enough space for a large tent.

First time camping and it was a good place to start. Loved that the location was close to the bathroom (but not too close) picnic table and fire pit were in good condition

Joe is fantastic! Our only complaints where: 1- Our neighboring campsite stayed up laughing and talking loudly until after 2:30am one night... kept us awake. Likely rookie campers and did not know about the noise curfew. 2-Whiting needs to empty the trash container more often or get a larger container/bin! That was a stinky overflowing mess!

Loved the campsite and the yurt! Beautiful! But I never received my deposit back even though the camp host checked everything over and we signed the form. Its been over 6 weeks now. We have wanted to go back but $200 for one night is extremely expensive.

There was no water in the campsite the should of told us that before we arrived!!!
@AdamH5439817 · Camped on Jun 14, 2023 at Campsite #7
Low hanging branches across roads make it challenging for trailers. I must have missed that the water was turned off. Other than that we had a great time. It was clean. Camp host was awesome.

We camped in groupsite B The campsite was fine the camp host was good and accomadating. The only problem was there was no water and no indication we wouldnt have water on the website or the Email they provided to prepare for our trip the only thing it said was there was no hookups and you could not hook up trailers to the spigots implying that the spigots had water for other purposes, because of this we had to go down the canyon to get jugs of water for camp clean up purposes it was definatly inconvinent. We also ended up having to share our 2 stall bathrooms with Group site A the last couple of days because their bathrooms were locked and they had 200+ campers so it cause a consitant line and inconvience in our camp. We called to have these concerns addressed and they told us the water has not been on for years so there is really no excuse for not informing us of this issue sooner.

The campground is super cute, very shady, the creek running thru the campground is fantastic. However, sites are close together, a fair amount of sites are backwards if you have a trailer. Great for tent camping. Sites above 16 should only be tent camping. If the parking lot at the end of the campground is full, you cannot turn a trailer around. The trail head parking at the end of the campground (sites above 16) is quite busy. Campground is poorly kept, restrooms are dirty & not stocked regularly, fire pits need cleaned out & area surrounding fire pits is not maintained.

We really enjoyed our time at Whiting. The camp host was wonderful!. It would have been helpful to know in advance that the spigots had been capped off and there was not any drinking water available.

Best way I found so far to book a camp site. Information in accurate and it saves time and gives a peace of mind that the camp site will be available.
@RachealF912586 · Camped on Jul 20, 2022 at Campsite #21
camp site was not cleaned when we got there. didn't see/hear from host for a couple of days. site is beautiful and shady but very hot due to low elevation. VERY difficult to get trailer out as there is not a loop at the end (just a parking lot)
@ChelseaW655300 · Camped on Jul 15, 2022 at Campsite #23
Whiting campground was great! It was shady and well taken care of. It’s a very popular mountain bike area. There is a hike that went though a butterfly field at the end of the campground that was so fun. This year they didn’t have drinking water available, but the camp host was very kind and even gave us a bundle of firewood
@MarjorieB55758 · Camped on Jul 2, 2022 at Campsite #12
My husband has to have a Cpap machine at night. The first 2 nights was fine but the third night our battery was dead so we had to turn on our generator. It is a Honda and very quiet. The camp host told us to turn it off at 10 p.m. and he didn't care if my husband could breathe or not. Also the bathrooms stunk horribly. They need to be cleaned more often and something done about the oder. I won't go back there.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
