I enjoyed my weekend very much.

We came with our RV and stayed for a long weekend for our 38th wedding anniversary. Plenty of flat areas to walk and ride a bike. We did have one electrical service flux that required resetting breakers, but then re-set everything and it all went well.

We stayed in Site # 33, which was a pull-through site. Hardly any shade (July) but had a pretty good view of the lake. Site was level, and the Internet was good. It was a ways to a dumpster, to get rid of trash, although there was a fishing dock just down the hill from us.

Very clean and well maintained RV area. Glad to see park rangers coming through the park on a regular basis, if not every day.

Check in and out was very easy and painless. The park was clean and quiet. The grounds could us mowing a little more often so just expect some tall grass if you have a pet.

So excited to finally have water levels rising. Sowell Creek and all Lake Proctor parks have always been an accommodating place to camp. Electronic only payments are a new issue to navigate, and gate attendance not always present are too; however by reserving camping at Recreation.gov and paying at the kiosk for day use passes, I had no trouble. I left a copy of my online reservation in my truck window when gate attendants weren't available to provide a window sticker, and used it when park ranger checked me at boat ramp. No troubles. Looking forward to water levels rising further!

Very nice and clean campground but the lake is very low. Boat ramp was closed and the lake was about 8' lower than 2 years ago

Lovely spot overlooking the lake and bluebonnets. Nice shelter and fire ring. Quiet and peaceful.

This was the best campsite we have had at Proctor Lake. Just wish we had asked for 1-7.

Beautiful clean campground

Was a very good campground. Very quite. Space between sites. The only thing was there was not any trees at most of the sites.
@GregorioS15822 · Camped on Apr 1, 2024 at Campsite #3
The camping spot was great and close to the lake. Very spacious and easy to navigate. We had a mobile hot spot so we were able to connect to internet when needed. Did some bank fishing and caught some nice size sand bass too!

Beautiful locations. Well maintained. However the showers were terrible. They need work
@CarlyH86C378E4 · Camped on Mar 28, 2024 at Campsite #6
We loved the location, park was well maintained. The new electric boxes were great. However the showers were terrible. Not clean; never got hot water, and poor water pressure. The only thing that messes up our trip were the showers.
@CarlyH86C378E4 · Camped on Mar 28, 2024 at Campsite #4
Campsite was great, well maintained. Workers were also super friendly & kinds. The only problem was the showers, they were terrible. Filthy, no hot water, and no water pressure. Would be a 10/10 If showers were updated. Everything else was great. But the showers were absolutely terrible

Loved the spots and the location. Showers were the only problem. They were terrible. Very dirty, no water pressure and water never got hot. Wish they would update these showers and it would be amazing. Will come back, but wont use the showers.

Nice park. Clean. Sewer connect. :>)

Second time in about a year we have camped at Sowell Creek. Probably thanks to the drought and low lake level, the park is pretty darn quiet and not overcrowded. All five or six spots in the full hookup loop were occupied but the sites are arranged such that you won't really notice anyone else. Park staff (probably volunteers) were pleasant. No issue with the hookups.

Sowell is beautiful and peaceful. The variety of bird life was amazing! We enjoyed watching storks, coots, ducks and birds of prey. I want to visit again!
@CarlM7183155 · Camped on Jan 2, 2024 at Campsite #4
We arrived during a rainstorm. Our site (site 4) had about an inch of standing water in it. It dried out overnight after the rain stopped, but setting up inside of a min-lake (our site) wasn't much fun. I think "the new guy" must have been responsible for laying the asphalt in our site.Other than that, the campground is nice and our site was very spacious. I would stay here again and maybe even stay in site 4 again.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
