We read many reviews that said the sites were very unlevel. We said, "how bad could it be?" Well, our original site was a very long site, but it was all downhill. There was less than 10 feet of flat at the bottom of the site by the concrete picnic table and fire ring. Please read all reviews for the site you are selecting. Also, do not trust the pictures, they do not show the actual slope of some of these sites.The area is beautiful and quiet. It's a great place to walk!

Great campground on the lake! Large sites. No sewer, but a dump station. 30 minutes to Nashville.

Stayed on site 41 with our 41 5th wheel. Pull through Site was extremely large however quite a dip coming in off the road. Swing it wide to miss ditch on drivers side. Some other sites would have been tougher to get into.

Folks aren't kidding in the other reviews... the low hanging trees on the way in and some inside the campground are SUPER LOW. Beware if you're a taller rig. We definitely hit branches going in and out. We stayed in site 60 for almost a week and loved it as far as it being peaceful and the view and all that, but it was NOT level and was a pain to get into. Almost every single site in the park involves a steep up or downhill to get into. The tail of our RV hit when leaving our first spot (43). We checked in one day early and online said our site (60) was reserved -- turns out nobody was staying there so that was a little frustrating... I do NOT recommend checking in at night at all. Seriously, it's DARK and the road is very skinny and the sites are not easy to see to get into. Get there during daylight. Checking in was super easy. We got there after hours so the sign on the office said to go to our site and come check in in the morning. No issues there at all. The folks working the office were very friendly. I called ahead to make sure they had no gate because I had to be out early for work, but when we went out one night, we got back a little after 10 and the gate was closed and appeared locked. Thankfully, it was NOT locked and we just pulled the pin out and drove in and put the pin back. The mosquitos were horrible (I mean HORRIBLE) but it was a nice place with friendly people and it was close to food and shops (walmart was about 5 min away). The road leading in wasn't a great size for vehicles to pass (it was a bit too skinny) but it was doable. We are just glad nobody else was coming when we left because we had to drive on the opposite side multiple times to avoid extremely low branches hanging from the trees. All that to say.. we will be back :) can't beat the location as far as being less than an hour out of Nashville.

Nice quiet campground. Good view of the water from many sites. Easy access to the dump station on departure. Reminder: no sewer hookups.

Call ahead to confirm directions as the GPS may send you onto old Jones Road. Looked like all sites had partial to full shade. The bathrooms between 20 & 21 were clean, but are up an extremely steep incline with loose rocks, so be very careful.

The smiley blond lady is very fake and rude in a subtle way, be ready. She made me feel unwelcome from the start, but at the end just now she came to my site and talked to me like a child as she asked me 6 times in different ways if I was leaving. She clearly offended me around the 4th question but she was ready for that and kept going while laughing at me. Some people never grow up.

Access to the lake right from the campsite. Everything was clean and well taken care of. The town is great as well. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because of lots of poison ivy but we were able to avoid it.

Scamp sites are far from level. It is nearly impossible to level your RV on the site. On sites on the lake it is difficult to reach the water due to debris from dead trees and rocks.

Very nice place to be for sightseeing or just chilling. Clean and maintained bathrooms.

Most sights are hard to get level in with a motor home or trailer. Some are very hard to get level and get into or out of with any RV of size. Only two bath houses which are only in the middle section of the campground. Only a couple of walking trails up a moderate hill to get to them, otherwise you have to drive from your campsite to get to them unless you are camping near them in the sites without any hookups.

Poole Knobs is a really nice campground, with some great water sites. Some of the water sites dont have good boat parking due to large rocks in the lake, but you can usually make it work. The 12 noon check out time is disappointing. There are much larger campgrounds that are 2pm, but somehow the clean up crew has convinced someone that they need more time, but they dont! Then spend about 2 minutes on each site, because there isnt anything to clean! Most campers are good about cleaning up their own trash! The 2nd thing is- many of the sites are not level, and really difficult for the larger campers and RVs. The state does not allocate enough money to get things done, and it usually takes years to complete a project! And finally, Poole Knobs closes for the year after Sept 30, which is ridiculous. Everyone knows that October is the best month of all for camping! Its just wrong that families cannot camp there for Fall Break!

Site 60 was extremely unlevel side to side. had to use every block I had and still couldn't get level. Great campground but terrible site.

Even though we were totally disappointed with downtown Nashville we loved the park. On the down side we left 2 days early. At other gov parks they gave us a refund for the unused days

Wanted to love it, and seems like it should be wonderful, but wasn't our favorite. The sites sit right next to the lake so it's pretty and nice to watch all kinds of birds coming/going. Access is pretty easy, and location is good. Unfortunately, our site smelled of rotting fish. Not sure if the large birds were leaving fish parts on the shore or if another camper was cleaning their fish near the campsites, but was definitely a deterrent. Rangers/hosts were nice. Parking was easy.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
