We chose Upper Little Truckee campground because it is a short trip from Sparks, and it is completely off grid. It was nice to have no connectivity for a few days. Unplugged, we were able to hike and relax without any distractions. Vern, the camp host, is always helpful and courteous. This is one of our favorite campgrounds close to home.

I liked this space. Our spot was right up against our neighbors but luckily they were super friendly. Nice little trail that leads to lower camp site - beautiful creek behind us that was safe for the kids to wade in. No fire burn in effect but understandable. You do hear traffic noise but it quiets down in the evening.

The creek near the campsite is lovely. The campsite is next to the highway 89. We can hear the traffic noise. There are a plenty of rocks surrounding the fire ring. Cant have camp chairs. Had to stand to enjoy the warmth of the fire. Overall very nice experience.

Camp host Vern was the best of the best!

This is the cleanest campground I've been to! The camp host, Vern, is the nicest man. I felt welcomed the moment I got there. Spot 14 and 15 are the best. Right next to the river. I am definitely going back to this site not only for the trout fishing but to visit with such a friendly camp host. I never found so much as a bottle cap on the ground and the bathrooms were always spotless all 5 days I stayed. Great campsite!!

The host is fantastic. Everything is clean. There is a bit of highway noise, but otherwise a peaceful stay.

Nice campground along a beautiful river. The campground was clean and quiet.

Host is FANTASTIC. Super friendly and helpful. We loved how close our site was the the river, and just a quick drive into Truckee.Only downsides are proximity to the highway, and how dusty the site was. We expected dirt, but this was excessive.

Great campground and the camp host Vern is the best!

The only reason I rate this as a 4 is because it's close to 89. And, despite that, I didn't mind the traffic too much. This is a delightful spot to camp, with lots of bird activity (Osprey seen daily with sticks to build or reinforce a nest), and a trail that connects to Lower Truckee campground. The campsite is clean and well taken care of, and it was great to have an amicable, friendly campground host (Vern) onsite. I will go back.

VERY clean , and right on the water! The camp host is very engaged in his area of operation and visits each site seeing how everyone is doing. Very great camp host! No phone signal, but about 5/10 mins drive down the road will get you enough to catch up on missed calls/texts. Sites are well taken care of. Road is pretty close to the sites, so you can hear cars driving though out the night. Other than that, we will be re-visiting again next year. North Shore Lake Tahoe is about 1 hour away, Reno is about 30 mins away.

The host Vern is awesome and he keeps the place spotless. I had driven past this campground for years and have to say the hwy is very noisy and it really takes away from the experience.

Very friendly host, bathrooms were clean. The site is very close to the road and traffic honks their horns at all times of day and night. I would be worried about kids and pets with how close that road is.

Quiet, clean, and a helpful camp host - it was a really nice trip. We'll definitely stay there again. :)

Campground and restrooms are clean, spaced just far enough apart. River was high so hard to fish, and weather was very windy and cold. I think I’m good whether this would be a real nice place to camp. Host was friendly and helpful, but left us alone enough so we could enjoy
@HenryVC2D7C3E2 · Camped on Jun 17, 2023 at Campsite #20
sure, site 020 is near the bathroom but not TOO near the bathroom. sure, the campground is near the highway but not TOO near the highway. the area is very nice and there's even a trail that goes along the river connecting upper and lower campgrounds.

It was convenient to be able to book our campsite online. We had a great off-grid experience, and the camp host was very nice and helpful. We will definitely camp at this campground again.

The campground was really well maintained. The camp host was super nice. The restrooms were super clean. The only drawback of the visit was n't evenmthe campground, it was the smoke from the Mosquito Fire and that only lasted about 3 hours then is was blue skies again.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
