While the campground itself was beautiful we were slightly dissapointed as our walkway to the lake from our site was long grass and very muddy so was inaccessible but could have been from the amount of rain we recently got overall beautiful site with no cell phone reception

Simple, Quiet and Peaceful. What more could you want? Lake and waters are high due to flooding this year but the mosquitoes weren't horrible. Bathrooms were clean and sites well tended. We love this gem of the Superior NF and will be back!

Campground was pretty unkempt. The grasses in the picnic area at the beach were hip high. Campers were weed whipping their own campsites to have space to camp. There was no camp host so we couldnt buy firewood. There was calf high water between our site and the lake that was breeding mosquitos like crazy. Went home a day early because the bugs were so bad.

The campground host was amazing and went above and beyond to fix a hiccup I encountered upon my arrival.

Super cute remote little camp site. We visited during a week day (Thursday in June). We especially loved the access to the lake, also the vault toilets were spotless. I would definitely recommend bug spray to anyone visiting, the mosquitos and flies were abundant.

Looking for a quiet place to get away and unplug? This is the place for you. Very well kept, clean campground. Camp hosts were helpful and kind. Lake was clean and we even caught a couple walleyes.

The campground is next to a beautiful lake deep in the woods. However, there had been so much rain, we had a bit of misery tent camping. Our main problem was our campsite, #8, was not as elevated as the others so it was full of huge puddles and mud. Also, the wetness made the site full of bugs. Most of our problems were not the fault of the campground. I would just stay away from site #8 if it’s been rainy. I would definitely go back.

Vault toilets, very clean and supplied with hand sanitizer. Camp host was excellent, delivered firewood to campsite. Fire pit had a couple inches of water from rain but worked around it. Verizon cell service pretty much nonexistent.

Planned a trip with my wife and disabled children based on the description stating their was a playground. No playground was at the campground. I asked the host and they said there is no playground. I brought up the website and it is listed in the description. I had two very unhappy children because what was promised wasn't there. The service we came for was not there and has never been there. We left early because we were all pretty upset. After multiple emails to recreation.gov about it, I have not heard back from them with anything substantial. They have emailed me back asking for more information I've already provided multiple times. Dissatisfied with the lack of service provided and the lack of any follow-up. I recommend avoiding reservations through recreation.gov after this experience. Thanks, Desten

What a beautiful campground. Lots of privacy and space in each site. We went for two days and left feeling so relaxed. The grounds were very well kept, toilets were very clean and the host was nice. The beach was also super clean with crystal clear waters. It was lovely to have a quiet beach to relax on in early July. We'll definitely consider coming back. :) I would caution others on two points. There is a nearby train track that comes through at about 10 p.m. and again sometime around 3 a.m. blowing it's horn. The other is I did get swimmer's itch from the lake. Although neither of these points would stop us from going back - but it's good to know upfront. :)

This was the best maintained campground we have been to! The vault toilets were immaculate - every day. The beach was raked smooth every morning. All the sites were neatly manicured. Nothing was overgrown. The road was smooth and firm with no potholes.

Camp hosts were very friendly and on the spot with keeping facilities clean. I was surprised at how small the green space was for putting up a tent. (Hard if you want to have more than one sleeping tent). Again sites well groomed and cared for. Was there for the fishing opener and camp ground wasn't noisy. A few camp sites you could hear into the night but nothing too disturbing, just people talking and laughing around the fire. Going to be honest I was disappointed in the fishing pier. I was expecting it to go out onto the lake a bit more, instead it stops right at the shore. So didn't see much advantage fishing there vs any other part of the shore line. The lake was quiet. Granted it was fishing opener and not the height of the water sport season but was again surprised considering the residential side of the lake. Overall a good place for a quiet opener.

Could really use an on site dump station.

We had an excellent time there, however, the reviews i thought i had read stated that there was cell service. There was not. That was absolutely fine except i wish i would have known and could have downloaded some maps. Also, we didn't have any luck fishing, I believe that lake has been fished dry. Thanks for the good times though. We had a fun weekend canoeing and relaxing.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
