Perfect time of year, end of season. Host (Sam) was very personable and accommodating. Camp sites and restrooms were clean. Great for tent camping and smaller rvs. Definitely will be back!

Our new favorite camp spot! We had site 20, it was perfect for a smaller tent for my husband and I. Short walk to the lake, in which we were able to carry our inflated paddleboard too without much struggle. Camp host was great! Such a sweetheart. Cant wait to come back!

Just enjoy the view of the lake while sitting by the fire.

The Camp Host Donna was incredibly warm and welcoming upon arrival. The campsite we were in was absolutely amazing, with a view of the water. It was a short walk with our paddle board to the beach. It's so quaint and peaceful here I had no problems leaving my paddle board near the beach overnight. The bathrooms are really clean... smelled like ammonia in the morning from mopping. The water pressure is good for drinking water. Can't wait to go back.

It was an amazing little getaway for me and my girlfriend. Everything was convenient to get to. Our camp host donna and Karl were very hospitable and always out there checking in on everyone. We had a great time we reserved our spot again for September

Campsites clean, bathrooms clean and camp host who did their due diligence in making sure ALL who were camping were taken care of. Lake was beautiful, people were friendly. Couldn't of asked for a better trip

Beautiful lake, great venue, clean campground and facilities, perfect location adjacent to restaurant and general store

This campground was amazing. Nice and spacious with a small creek running behind it. There were quite a bit of mosquitos, but overall the experience was great.

The camp space was relatively small. There was confusion on where to park and the campground hosts were way too serious

We visited during the last week before the location closed for winter. Due to that, we missed out on enjoying the lodge and shower access. The experience was still a wonderful, outdoor trip to this beautiful lake as fall weather crept in. I have always loved Lake Alpine with its sand, rock base which makes it so clean. You dont get muddy at the shore which is great for dogs and people alike. Nice trail to walk around the side of the lake.We came in a day early and dropped into space 17 which was perfectly fine. Our reservations were for space 15 which we move to next day. Closer to the lake and a bit more opened up. Space 9 & 10 have a lake view. I will try to get one of those next time. Bathrooms located nearby with pit toilets. Donna, works so hard and keeps the bathrooms stocked and clean and runs the grounds well. She is full of energy and very friendly.My husband caught a couple rainbow trout on his casual attempts to fish a couple times. We had a lovely, peaceful trip. Be sure to get breakfast or lunch at Bristols in Arnold and if a chance for dinner Sarafinas is aways delicious.

Loved staying here. Beautiful lake. Campsite was great. Only issue we had was backing our trailer in. Although the pad was long enough for our 30ft trailer (plus f150 parked sideways in front of it), we had a hard time maneuvering back into the spot because there wasnt a whole lot of room to turn. Our trucks front end was basically hanging off the ledge as we backed in. Just FYI for other trailers.

Great site, not for young childrenSite 19 is on the outer ring of the campground on the edge of a gorge leading down to the lake. From the site you can catch glimpses of the water and there's a few large boulders and plenty of trees to offer some privacy. The campground is well maintained and the camp hosts really went out of their way to ensure everyone was comfortable.We have two young kids and tied a 100 ft. rope along the trees to create a barrier so they wouldn't tumble down into the creek. But if it's just adults or older children then the site is fine. We'll definitely return.

The campground is very nice but ALL of the asphalt needs repaired or replaced especially the campsite driveways, very rough and uneven. What a downgrade to go from flush toilets and sinks in the bathroom to pit toilets. Theres no accessible campsites making it difficult for those who need them.
@LowellT38351C7 · Camped on Sep 11, 2023 at Campsite #23
Great camping at Lake Alpine! Campsites are far enough apart for privacy and serenity. The grounds are well kept. The facilities are spotlessly clean. It's serenely quiet at all times. Donna, the host is terrific! We will be back.
@BrittH5135317 · Camped on Sep 8, 2023 at Campsite #7
This campground has wonderful access to the beautiful lake. Just a short walk through the campground to either the beach or the public boat ramp. Easy access by kayak at the beach. New for 2023 are new pit toilets which replace the flush toilets and sinks of previous years. It's definitely a downgrade. The camphost keeps them clean, but they are still pits. The only bad campsite is #1; it is rocky and has uneven surfaces. Difficult to pitch a tent and walk into at night. Many sites will accommodate large capers and cars with trailers. The Alpine Lode, store, and restaurant are across the road.

Donna was an amazing host! Love this place. Can't wait to come back.

Beautiful place but the west shore camp host was very rude and unprofessional. Hopefully she won't be back next year or she gets some much needed people skills training in the near future.

Donna was the best! We only wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back!

Campers next to us were loud and obnoxious with their music. The loud music definitely took away from the quiet sober experience of being in nature.
@brucer6955059 · Camped on Aug 17, 2023 at Campsite #8
Nice campground in general, poor camping site in particular. Site #8 was much too steep for us to use, even with our eleven leveling blocks. The Recreation.gov site doesn't give any clue about the site grade, plus incorrectly states the site is gravelled rather than the asphalt that is actually there. We had to abandon the campground and go to another campground down the road.

Nice campground in general, nice camping spot in particular.
@DavidS3927304 · Camped on Aug 7, 2023 at Campsite #19
The camp hosts insisted on their generator rules. 3 hours per day. 1 for each meal. None before 8am but nothing after 10pm. Fine. But the Forrest service can start up a chainsaw at 5:50am and excavation at 4am. Multiple left their reservations early. This campground has a lot of drop off points. Not ideal for small children.

This is an annual MUST for our family -- a member of our clan has been camping at Lake Alpine in August consistently for the past 65+ years. The sites at the West Shore Campground are well-maintained and carefully attended to by the [Super] Camp Hosts Donna and Karl -- they are the BEST! The new bathrooms are great and the scenery can't be beat.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
