We had a lovely time camping here over Labor Day weekend. The main sites lack significant shade, but we didn't really notice. My only complaint was the campground host harassing my elderly uncle when he stopped momentarily at the intersection to see where we were meeting for a picnic. She had no patience to hear why he was stopped. Other interactions with her also proved to be challenging, she seems a little abrasive in general. This had no bearing on the campground itself, obviously. Overall it was a delightful weekend.

The area was very clean and inviting. We had a beautiful site. The area was beautiful and the host was very nice.

We loved everything about this beautiful campground! Local to town, spaced out sites, a nature trail just behind the campground. The host was attentive and pit toilets were clean. Lake was beautiful and we will definitely be back!

Maybe there should be a notice of that you need to dump in the village along with the directions. Other than that its a nice quiet place.

Nice, quiet campground north of Cold Brook Lake. Picnic tables and fire rings for each site. Vault toilets were clean. There is central water to fill your water cans. Easy access to Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park. Cell service was fair to poor (Verizon)

Sweet little campground. Quiet and very peaceful. Nice walking

The place was filled with goose poop and there was no grass in the area. Which becomes muddy when it rained. The experience was not at all enjoyable so we left after setting everything up because the goose poop started smelling. This area didnt seem to be kept up as well as the other locations. We truly had a very miserable experience and will not be coming back here.

hard to get a spot here. This is my favorite park in the area. great walking areas in the hills and the north area.

What a nice grassy area with the surrounding cliffs and quiet valley. We have stayed here a couple of times now and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere with the lake and the hills. We visited a few nearby places and loved our time in HotSprings.

Enjoyed the area. Camp site 6 worked great for our tent. Shade available. Linda, the campground host, was very helpful , friendly, and kind.

Beautiful, quiet, primitive camping. No RV hook-ups, but public restroom and potable water are available. Camp host named Linda was extremely friendly and helpful.

Great campgrounds! No showers, but the bathrooms were clean. There were A LOT of flies - so bug spray and candles are a must. Lake is beautiful, we saw a few turtles. Water is clear. Quiet at night, all around great experience

Beautiful site!! 😍 Lots of nature happening all around you with a lake backdrop! Only problem is they make you back into the site making your entrance door on the opposite side and the fire pit too close to your camper or vehicle. Still, highly reccomend the location (if you can find it lol)!

Very beautiful area. We stayed at site 8, which is nicely tucked in the back corner, but provides a large space and area to feel well away from other campers at the site, with a beautiful backdrop of red cliffs and green foliage.

Had site 13. We are fully solar capable, so being in a separate part of the campground was amazing, right next to the lake, and with a big, spacious site - all you could hear was nature. All of the neighbors that stayed in site 12 were great, but that would be the only thing that could impact your stay in this site. Hosts were attentive and kind. Absolutely the best campsite we’ve ever had and there have been many!!! We were able to work on all 3 major cell providers without issue. Geese and birds were abundant. Great kayaking lake, with fish and turtles. FYI - People do run generators here, but primarily everyone just ran off battery or tent camped. Road in is rough, but worth it. Potable water was available and easy to access with a truck but might be cumbersome with a trailer as you have to block the road to fill. We filled out water reservoirs so no problem.

Had the campers next to us had to follow the rules we would have had a good time. They had a HUGE 5th wheel and 2 large tents with a few smaller tent/canopy things. Not only did they have all that they ran their generator passed 11 each night. Their tents were no more than 10 feet from our pop up camper. Over all it was a very crowded area that over flowed in to our space.

The campground is very nice. There’s no hookups but there are vault toilets and water spigots. The site we camped (#10) was level and could comfortably fit a 40’ Class A with the toad disconnected. I’d give the campsite 5 stars if it weren’t for the 1.5 mile washboard road that you have to take to get to the site. I don’t mind it being dry and dusty but wow, there was no speed you could drive without watching your dishes chip, eggs crack and fillings loosen. If the road could see a motor grader monthly, it would help! Other than that, I loved the clean, quiet and peaceful beauty that this location offers.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
