One of the best campgrounds we have used. Sites are well spaced apart and the hot showers are very nice.

Our spot was spacious and quiet. 20 minutes away from the Grove of Titan trail. Its close to the restroom. Free shower which is great. Also, the only camp spot Ive been to that offers toilet seat covers.

Great camping area with decent privacy between campsites. The host that was there while we camped was very meticulous and the restrooms and showers were immaculatley cleaned. You could hear the river from your campsite, so relaxing and riding my bike around the park was so much fun. A trip to town was so close and driving thru the Redwoods is an amazing experience. Can't wait to go back and enjoy it again.

Awesome place to get away from the city. Close to multiple hiking trails. Very clean facilities, restrooms and showers were always clean.

This campground turned out to be an extremely unpleasant experience. The main complaints are noise, the campground is next to a major highway, so throughout the day it was very obnoxious even from the furthest campsite. At night it is not possible to sleep without earbuds because everyone is loud even after 10pm as well as the sound from big trucks passing by all night. The only way not to hear it is by spending time in the valley where the river is, which doesn't have any campsites..... The " campsite hosts" said " sorry we can't ask other campers to be quiet. We don't want to be a third party to tell anyone what to do or not to do, all we do is clean the toilets and inform people about nature." when we asked them to talk to some extremely loud campers (they used gas-run generators and felt personally attacked when we asked them to be quiet), also another atrocious experience from the gas generators was that the smoke pollution traveled all the way through the campsite..... It was truly disgusting, which completely ruined our stay. The campsite ground was also too rocky/ impenetrable to use tent stakes. If you want to go there use an RV like everyone else. This campsites is not for those wanting to experience nature and peace. It is for people who are passing through to spend one night at as they travel.

Nice for a stop over but wouldnt want to spend too much time there. It was hot the week we stayed there. We were under the impression you are next to the water. In fact you have to walk down a trail to get to it or drive to the day use area. There were a couple groups from Oregon that were there to party, but that can be common at most sites.

Nice campground in the forest. Nearby swimming hole in the river is a bonus.

Campsite 16 was very spacious, can fit multiple tents. Right next to the bathrooms with showers, to potable water and next to the trail that leads to the river/swimming hole, which is perfect for a hot summer day. Not very private since people walk back and forth through the day.

I really like this site. It has everything that I could want. The camp host I had in 2022 was much friendlier though.
@JaneL3877914 · Camped on Aug 1, 2023 at Campsite #22
Our site was in the middle row across the field from the bathrooms and a short walk to the path down to the day use area and the best beach access point (which is unmarked but obvious). Other campers were LOUD (maybe bc it was a full moon?) but mercifully stopped screaming just in time for quiet hours. Campfire smoke made air quality really gross and whole family got throat/nose infections after our stay, but site was large, well equipped/maintained and it is a great location for enjoying the Smith/Six Rivers area.

Not overcrowded Quite campground, but the highway traffic nearbySmall swimming hole great for young kidsShowers hot water with no adjustments Plenty of room for two tents Its worth the drive to Jedediah Smith State Park day use and then cross the little bridge to stout grove redwoods for a majestic hike, low impact

It was quiet, clean, the tent sites were flat and private, the bathrooms were clean.

This is our second stay at Panther Flat and we had a disappointing experience this time around (July 2023). We arrived at the campground on a Wednesday night around 8pm to find our reserved site was occupied by a large group with 3+ cars and tents parked at our site. The campers looked puzzled as we pulled up to double check that the "reserved" sign that did in fact have our name and dates of stay listed. They told us that a ranger came by and told them they could occupy the space, as no one had it reserved until a couple days later. They claimed the sign must have been updated while they were not paying attention. It was getting late so we made our way over to the on-site hosts with one of the people occupying our reserved site, who mentioned to the hosts that they were just starting dinner and would need at least 2 hours to move their belongings from our site. The hosts were actually off duty (their off days are Tues/Weds) but without cell service, there wasn't much else we could do. The hosts didn't seem to have a proper solution for our issue, and simply offered for us to park down in the day use area to spend the night as they didn't want to move the folks that took over our reserved site. They claimed we would be refunded for our one night reservation and promised us a better solution in the morning. An apologetic ranger visited us in the morning and moved us to a random site near the bathrooms for our next night. The refund obviously never came, nor did the hosts check in on us the next day. To have spent the time researching the best site for our setup (6 months in advance), pay extra online reservation fees, and then get kicked out of our reserved site to an area with no showers and pit toilets was disappointing to say the least. The camp hosts and rangers really need to be more vigilant and they need a better system to ensure reserved sites are occupied by the correct individuals. TLDR; your reservation means nothing, so have a backup plan!

Love the location, easy walking access to Smith River. Busy campground, little privacy, but we had friendly neighbors. Fire pit had a grill grate, adjustable height. Lots of twigs around to help start fire. Bathrooms were stocked and fairly clean.

We were robbed at our campsite. Pretty sure the camp host was was involved. He came to our site and basically implemented himself with several odd statements about the theft including naming specific items that were stolen and very clearly explaining how he was away from the campground during the theft. I would like to know if he ever leaves so I could return. Otherwise the campground is great.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
