This campsite is normally a lovely place to spend time birdwatching, kayaking, and swimming. The low rating is due to our trip being ruined by a very loud and grumpy old man in site #2.The disgruntled camper arrived at 2:30am and spent all night having a tantrum. He threw things, slammed doors repetitively, and angrily cleaned his entire trailer. He woke the entire campsite and children were crying by 3:30, so someone shouted at him to quiet down. This really upset him so he set off his car alarm over and over to retaliate. We complained to the camp host and she informed him of the quiet hours. He was very annoyed that we complained so he started his generator bright and early and kept it running all weekend, along with his very loud music. Unfortunately, even kayaking across the lake wasnt enough to escape the noise. I did not see a single osprey this trip. Rude campers will not be handled by a camp host or staff, and neither will rule-breakers make sure to do something yourself to discourage this behavior. The campsite has no water right now and the prices are reduced for walk-ins ($19/day) we paid full price online.

No water at campground

The lack of potable water at the campsite was a very big disappointment. Also due to the trouble the Trinity Lake dam turbines were having, the flow and drainage of water into Lewiston Lake were stopped. As a result, a parasitic bloom in the water, referred to as "swimmers itch" was a big enough deterrent to keep us out of the water for swim and play. I also was told by the Shasta Parks worker that Recreation.gov would be issuing me a partial refund for the lack of potable water at Cooper Gulch campsite, since I had made and paid for the reservations long before I was notified that there is no water available at the campsite. How and when will I be refunded for this?

Great little campground. Right on the lake, very small so it’s just a few steps to get to the shore, bathrooms, or water tap. Beautiful!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
