Too far

The campground itself was nice enough. There was a party at a group site that lasted until 1 a.m. with a boombox and repeated chanting and singing. I hesitate to rate the campground low for something people did but the rangers were absent during the evening.

The only drawback is that our place was inclined and it was difficult for us to sleep in the camper like that. everything else perfect!

The campsite is decently maintained, close to the river for cooling down and only 30 minutes drive to the giant sequoias. However, many "locals" seem to go to this campground to relax and party. Some groups were playing loud music throughout the day and had lots of lights and lanterns that made star gazing impossible. One group near me was up till 2 a.m. drinking and talking. I think the rangers/hosts should do a better job monitoring. Overall I still had a decent experience.

Got this campground for a day before heading to the Lodgepole campground. Its definitely not a campground for those who no not like the summer heat. Campsite 7 was directly in the sun all day until about 8pm and it was 95 out. Aside the heat, the experience was good. A deer walked through our site early in the morning, its close to the campground amenities and the campsite itself isnt too close to any neighbors. Just wish they had showers nearby.

I think overall, it was a good experience. I do wish that I would've been advised that camp fires would not be allowed however. We stopped and bought firewood on the way up under the impression that we were gonna roast marshmallows that evening (a staple of the camping experience) and when we came into the park, the ranger advised that they were not permitted due to there being a lot of dry brush. I totally get that it creates a hazard but the language I read in my email kind of made me thought it would be permitted. I think it would be a good idea to advise visitors ahead of time so they don't make the same mistake I did and buy/bring unnecessary items.

We loved this campsite. It's a tent only area which made it a nice quiet stay. The sites and bathrooms were well kept. There is a slope to this site but the main area for the tent was flat and there a low slung tree that provides excellent shade all day. Check out the trails at the dump site just across from the camp area. There's a great access area to a very nice part of the river.

Nice and clean campground. On the apps said is full but a lot of campsites were empty. They don't have their system updated, since the ranger came in the morning (after a night spent) and told me i didn't have a reservation. Also even the next reservation for the second night she didn't had it. Well i show her the reservation on my phone, she took the names and left. Came later and apologized telling me she had a outdated report. Overall very nice experience. First night we had site 9- the pad was enough for our cabin tent 9x 12 but without any sun. Second night we switched on 31(i coudnt have the same site for 2 nights). Irony 9 was always empty on second night but not available on app. , We put all our food in the box bear prof that each site have it. i didn't saw any bear. Only couples dears and a lot of ground squirrel.

Excellent experience! Amazing river, great views. Do be warned that site 3 is small and better suited for a couple.

Sequioa was great but most of the places to visit are not close to the campsite. Site not flat
@MadhuraP907494 · Camped on Jun 14, 2024 at Campsite #3
Size of this particular campsite was very small. Had space for only one tent for 2 person. Campsite was not levelling. It was so tilted that we kept rolling inside the tent.

Nice bathroom, easy location to setup a tent, nice dedicated area to park your car. Very close to trash, recycling, and bathroom. I just wish there were showers at this location.

We enjoyed our visit to Sequoia (June 10-14, 2024). We towed a 22 travel traveler, and we came in through the South entrance. Potwisha was our only option in the park for camping as we were restricted from going further north with the trailer (it was fine with just the truck!). The dump station across the road was very clean and convenient, and Three Rivers (to the South) wasnt farfor ice/gas/etc. It was very hot, so I appreciated that we could use our generator. The campground wasnt crowded and it was quiet. The River nearby was high and roaring. We really liked Site 17big tree for shade and felt private on the door side of the camper. The free shuttle in the park works greatcomes frequently to the various stops. However, you have to drive from Potwisha north to Giant Forest Museum to park to get to the first shuttle stop (that continues north)this beautiful drive is about 30 minutes. From there we took the shuttle and enjoyed Sherman Tree (can be crowded) and hiked The Congress Trail (You have to see The Senate and The House and others!), and to Lodgepole Village (hike to the waterfall and get huckleberry ice cream afterwards), and Wuksachi Lodge (great place to sit on the porch and relax and use WiFi to catch up on email/texts). Lodgepole Village has showers and laundry. We also recommend taking the gray shuttle line from the Giant Forest Museum (or your own vehicle if you go early8am or so) to Moro Rockall ages did this hike up the stairs. You many need bug spray. Then head on to Tunnel Log (drive your own vehicle through it for a picture), and then to Crescent Meadows where you can hike. This road has a very quiet feel and is surrounded by the breath-taking beauty of the Giants. We found 3 nights and 2 full days about the right amount of time for the 2 of us (age 70) in the park. From there we drove to Yosemite!

Clean campground and clean restrooms I reserved the spot number 5 is next to the hills and we not even spent one night because we found a Big rattlesnake and ended up getting back to our house

Nice and quiet campground worked out great for our visit to Sequoia and Yosemite National Parks.

We were on site 16 a backend site which was fine for our teardrop trailer. The bathrooms were ok but you have to climb up a hill and then move over or around big rocks to get to the stairs for the bathroom. We were there four nights and never saw a campground host or an attendant in the booth entering or leaving the campground. When we got to our site the first day our name wasn't on the site number. There's not much to do at this campground except wade or swim in the river when it's not too swift or high. The grass at our site was waist high so we weren't able to use all of our site.

Very nice, very quiet, but too open to public. Our site was occupied by a car from outside for hours, nice and helpful rangers, but not successful

Love this campground. It's close to Three Rivers (~15-20minutes) if you need more ice or firewood. The weather was great in May with mid 70s in the day and low 50s high 40s at night. I was good with a sleeping bag and blanket. It is a beautiful drive up the mountain to all the great trails and sights. I highly recommend Tokopah Falls trail in Lodgepole campground.

It was so nice seeing those giant trees, but we couldn't sleep at night, because there was some women at No 17 camp spot. They were talking and laughing loudly until 4 am.There wasn't any ranger or employee to stop them doing that.It was a very bad experience for me, because I had to drive the whole day after that night.
@JohnW4841416 · Camped on May 21, 2024 at Campsite #18
Great small campground along a roaring river. Our site was just above the river which made for a great sound blocking out most other campers noises. It was large and partially shaded. The bathrooms are old. I wish the NPS would build some new bathrooms in many of the national park campgrounds to replace these 50-yr old ones.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
