Very clean comfortable campsite with running water. Right by the river. Close access to hiking trail.Right next door to a great burger joint named McNally's. I never enjoy pit toilets, but it was well maintained and as clean as they get. Each site has a nice parking spot right there. The online reservation system works great and is very convenient to use. The ability to modify dates and change sites is great. Thanks for a great camping experience!

Beautiful place, clean bathrooms. Camp site was next to river. Mauricio the host was awesome, gave us good fishing spots and was overall helpful with our questions. We will be back.

I have been camping at the Fairview Campground since the late '60s. Spend time there almost every year 50+ years. The roads and pads at the campsite are in terrible shape doesn't affect the camping experience other than decades of the lack of maintenance will become very expensive to bring the campground into a proper condition; but this isn't why I am leaving a review . . .The "quality" of the campground hosts varies from year to year. The campground host, Maury or Morrie (not sure of the spelling) is the absolute best host we have ever encountered at this campsite or the other campsites in the area. Hard working, pleasant guy!! I hope you give him this feedback.

Site was trashed, small and neighbors were bumping loud annoying music, not to mention had glass bottles all over. So this campground is a free for all, rules don't apply. I wont be back. Never seen the camp host.

We camped (with tents) in spots 6 & 7. Spot 7 is closer to the river but 6 is not far away. The campgrounds are spacious, with bathrooms and fresh water within walking distance. We were close to good fishing spots and great swimming spots too. The burger stand and general store came in handy on a few occasions. We camped during the week, Tuesday thru Thursday and it was quiet and not over-crowded. Go there on the weekend or a holiday and it's packed with people and noisy. Just thought I'd add that in case you're looking for a quiet get away or not.....It was hot, to be expected, and we couldn't make a sandwich without the bees swarming us - it was really bad. But, that's camping for you, it aint' gonna be perfect in every way. Otherwise, we had a great time. We love Kern River and we can't wait to return.

We have visited this location on several occasions and have consistently enjoyed our experiences. All necessary amenities are conveniently situated within walking distance, including an exceptional burger establishment, a well-stocked store, and a restaurant featuring a bar and live musical performances.

8/2 - 8/4 2024. Campground 8. Spacious for 3 tents. Bushes separate site from neighbors. Not a lot of shade, but looked like more shade compared to sites closer to the river. Campground 4 was behind us and looked like it had way more shade but closer to the road. The river level was knee to waist high but the current was strong so we stayed by the banks. We saw other people tubing. We drove to Riverside Park to go tubing. Would definitely come again if I can get a spot.

Nice campground, this was a return trip but first time in this particular site. I made the reservation months ago and when we arrived, the camp host came to the site stating that we had to pay for a second vehicle on the site. The reservation said 6 people and 2 vehicles and so this didnt seem right.I just questioned him regarding this as anyone can walk up and ask for cash in a campground. He had on a t shirt that stated some other company name, not reservation.gov, nothing that made me think he belonged in this capacity to collect money. He was VERY loud and argumentative about the second vehicle payment. He did give us time to go re check the website re this policy, and of course we did pay. He did apologize later and told me that another lady had given him such a hassle about the payment collection for second vehicles that he had to call the cops recently. I think it very unfair to put the camp host and the guests in this position. This should be MORE CLEARLY stated on the site and in the reservation reminders that are sent. Many people book months in advance and may not be aware of the need for extra vehicle payment!!!! It would also be helpful to clearly post this at the entrance to camp. Other than that, the place was clean nice river access, bathrooms clean. We enjoyed our time here very much. I just really want someone there to make a change to that vehicle payment policy so as not to cause this kind of miscommunication and conflict between host and guests.

What an amazing place! The pictures dont do it justice at all. The river is so close, clear and beautiful! This site especially has so much shade! Our new favorite spot!

The host, Mauricio, was very nice and helpful when I had questions about the campsite. This was my second time coming to the campsite and I would book it again. There is minimal shade so you bring your canopy. The river was right next to the campsite which was perfect for the 100-degree weather. The bathroom was well maintained and surprisingly it did not smell bad. Whatever chemical they are using for the odor freaking works! A++

Site 55 is not available, belongs to camp host Mauricio, he was the main reason this trip was so good, he was accomodating, full of insights, recomendations, kept campground neat, squirrels kept at bay beacuse of Spartacus-Mauricio's trained dog. From info to wood, Mauricio was ready to help. Thanks for everything, already recommended camp to all my friends, they 2 families are actually there this weekend, and im looking for dates to get back there.

Great location on the Kern River and right next to Johnny McNally's Lodge with great steaks a little hotel and general store. Bring some portable shade as most sites have very little, But hands down this is my favorite place along the Kern.
@WilliamP724185 · Camped on Jun 14, 2024 at Campsite #5
Some nice spots close to the river. I recommend you bring a canopy for shade.
@ThomasR5111286 · Camped on Jun 7, 2024 at Campsite #32
I've been here a handful of times and enjoy the location. There is no reception and I hope it stays that way. Not many animals aside from bugs, bees, birds (chatty and will grab food) , squirrels, and raccoons that will grab food items if left out at night. Most of the picnic benches are beyond repair and shameful. Toilets have friendly flies that kinda tickle. It would be great if the toilet doors would lock, I prefer to have my morning routine alone and not with strangers. It's nice that some people bring incense sticks, the smells are not natural. Some of y'all need help.

We stayed at site 15 and loved it! Theres a little beach where we hung out and fished. Something of note: theres was no shade! Some folks showed up next to us and ended up moving due to the lack of shade. So bring a pop up or youll fry.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
