This was my 2nd time staying at Hume Lake Campgrounds. First time was July, 2020 (Covid times) and recently in late September, 2024. Both were great with little crowd and noise. The bugs were minimal, except for the "meat bees" that were only annoying during breakfast hours. We did have a Bobcat pass by camp, saw a few tarantulas crossing the road on the way up (none at our campsite!) and in the morning lots of deer on the path to the lake. BE ADVISED... you can't bring firewood from outside the park, and you can't buy it inside, so you'll have to forage. We found enough for two nights at Boyden Cavern, off of the 180, not far from Hume Lake. I thought about bringing my Ryobi battery powered chainsaw, but didn't. If I had, we probably would have been fine foraging the campground. Hindsight is 20/20 ;)On the other side of the lake is the Christian Camp. There is a General Store that is stocked with food, ice, souvenirs, camping gear, and, most importantly, gas pumps! I love this location because of the lake, it is close to General Grant, Mist Falls, Roaring River Falls (both are an amazing hike!) You will definitely want a head net for the gnats if you hike these trails. People were offering me money to buy mine. The gnats are very annoying if you don't have one. When heading back down, or up General's Hwy, there are so many trails to walk through and get up close to the Giant Sequoias. General Sherman is along that road, but I don't recommend going there on a weekend, unless you go super early. Even during Covid 2020 when I saw him last, there were a lot of people. This time (late September) I attempted on a Saturday around 1pm, on my way home, and the line of cars waiting to get in felt like leaving a huge concert. I declined and turned around. It's worth a stop at the Giant Forest Museum.ALSO... Weather in this area is unpredictable. Had an unexpected thunderstorm, the camp got drenched. Something to consider before leaving for a hike.

Very nice. Clean lake very close by. Vault and clean flush toilets nearby. I recommend the flush toilets. Make sure you have bug spray. Big mosquitoes and wasps. I would go again. Bear lockers are nice size. Should've brought our canopy for shade and because pine needles and even a wormlike bug kept falling/fell on us from the trees.

Camp was nice. A bit dusty but nothing abnormal. Site 013 is in the sun during daylight which got super hot. No showers but spigots everywhere on the site. Lake was only 5-10 minutes from the site, depending on your route

First time at the lake, and we had a really enjoyable time. The camp sites are dusty but have decent tree cover most times of day. We saw some wildlife and even had a close encounter with a grey fox one night. The yellow jackets are intense during the day and make it hard to cook and eat in the open, nearly impossible really, so a mess tent is highly advised if you have one. Other than that we spent our time at the lake in a little inlet to ourselves and the water was great, and full of fish and tadpoles. We considered going to the Christian Camp for a paddle board but ended up not going that route. Next time! Thats definitely a great spot for supplies and fire wood or to gas up before you head on. Overall we loved it and plan to return.

Hume Lake is my favorite camp site in Sequioa. The lake water is fresh and I love it. The Christian camp next door has a store and gas so thats a plus.

Beautiful place. Campsites are very nice, with trees, and a mix of sun and shade. It's very close to the lake. Great spot!

great lake, quite and no loud gas engines. Only allowed small rowboats and electric motors. Christian camp employees are very friendly and respectful.

The bathrooms, water and recycling/garbage bins were close. The site was nice and the whole area and the lake were beautiful. My wife and kids voted this site as one of their favorites.

We took an RV trip with friends in July. The lake is beautiful. Its a smaller man-made lake that was perfect for paddle boarding. We had booked sites 56 and 26 because they were the last 2 sites that weekend. When we arrived the camp hosts were amazing and helped us get site 27 instead (there was a cancelation) so we could be closer. The area was pretty quiet although there is a Cristian summer camp on the lake and you can hear the campers singing at night and playing on the lake during the day. It was not obnoxious at all and didnt bother us a bit. They have little shops, food, and gas at the camp if you need something. The drive down was windy and we were trying not to ride our brakes pulling the TT but it was totally worth it. Our sites were clean and there were water spigots nearby. There was a trail between our 2 sites that led to the lake. Maybe a 3 minute walk. We could see the lake through the trees from site 26. The road around the camp is on the narrow side so backing in took a lot on back and forth. We would definitely camp here again.

Can walk to lake access from campsites but recommended driving to get to the sandy cove on the opposite side of the lake at least once. Sites clean and restrooms stocked.

Dont stay at the same campsite, move around. We had few great places and one was not so good, neighbors were loud and to many of them. Im glad we stayed at that side only two nights. If we wouldve had to stay all week next to those people that wouldve been a huge disaster. Otherwise, everything was great, two ladies who work at the camp site were very nice and friendly, very helpful.

Campground is clean and bathrooms are maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of shade from tall trees and occasional wildlife spotting early mornings. There are no showers in the campground. Do not buy the firewood they sell in the campground as they are super dry and will just smoke and no flames for cooking (3 bundles).

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
