no water. no open fire. if your camp is by the entrance, you will get dusted by all the dirt bikes and atvs. I recommend the back side of the camp. the toilet stinks so don't get the site next to it. There was a lot of gun shots on our first night (around 1am). Loud music until midnight. Our second night was quiet. The fire road to the camp is great. sedans have no issues getting to camp.

I know its say dont fallow the google maps but at lease a small sign at the begging of the Main Street but beside that , everything good but I believe is most for 4x4 vehicles

Great place but could be better if maintained better. The website and the reminder email contain mixed messages. It says campfire allowed and then it say charcoal BBQ not allowed!! We then realized campfire is not allowed. The website says what is available but we found out there was no water.It looks like we paid for the picnic table only.

It is a very quiet and tranquil campground! We loved it. The 4-mile dirt road is no joke, and there needs to be better signage because my mom and stepdad accidentally went right instead of straight when they were almost there. Our neighbor did the same thing. Bummer that theres no water, and we were there when campfires werent allowed, but we would come back.

I love Crab Flats. During the week its really quiet and the campsites are beautiful and not too close to each other. My kids and I had a blast!

Beautiful, quiet campsite tucked away. My Honda HRV made it down the 4 mile dirt road no problem and the campground itself is really well taken care of. We went last weekend and it was hot during the day and there are lots of bugs but once the sun went down it cooled down quite a bit and the bugs went away! Just make sure to bring bug spray and cold drinks : ) Nice spot for dogs!

If you enjoy people blasting their loud music nonstop all night/morning, this site will be ok for you. Our entire experience was ruined by careless loud people all day and night, no one ever enforces anything here.

Nice campground. Toilets were clean, but smelled like you’d expect a vault toilet to smell. No water in the campground for our stay.

The directions provided by Recreation.gov was not completely accurate. And guests should note there is a long stretch of rough dirt road to get to the camp. Otherwise, the camp sites and restroom were well maintained, sites were clean, and we overall had a great experience.

Nice place to stay the night on the trails. Only complaint is the parking is very tight. Our group had two sites and one was twice as big as the other and the same price.

Pretty site but lots of loud music late at night and ohvs ripping through the camp site. If your good with that then I’m sure it’s a great site

Great campsite. There were lots of pesky yellowjackets.
@NatalieS439488 · Camped on Aug 6, 2022 at Campsite #16
It is not just a dirt road to get there, it is more like off roading so be prepared. The sites aren’t very secluded from one another, pretty loud partying at night. Looks like an amazing place for ATVs and dirt bikes, that just isn’t our thing. No hiking trails close by. Summary: great for ORVs, not worth the crazy drive if you’re looking for nature, seclusion, quiet and hiking.

Our overall experience with Crab Flats was great! The best part was probably the almost 5 mile off-road trail that leads to the camp site. It really gets you in the mindset that you’re driving off the grid to your remote campsite. Loved it! Our specific camp site was clean and close to the restrooms which was nice. I would reserve a different site next time because #16 felt very close to the neighboring sites. It didn’t really feel like we had our own space. But since it was just two of us it wasn’t too bad. Since this is a family campground, if we brought more people with us, it would have been more of an inconvenience. It was very windy when we arrived so we didn’t do a campfire. We weren’t really sure if campfires were allowed or not. We got some mixed messages regarding if we could do campfires, especially since we went during fire season. It would be nice to have clear up to date instructions on if we could do campfires or not. One recommendation I would give is to make sure you bring sturdy and heavy duty spikes for your tent/canopy/etc. The dirt in our campsite was very soft, so the standard spikes that came with our tent didn’t seem very secure n the ground. Good thing the wind wasn’t too bad because we were a little V worried. As far as activities, we did visit the nearby Green Valley Lake and tried the Kay as kayaking. It was nice but the lake is very very small. It would be more worth it to drive to big bear or lake arrowhead for water activities. The city of Running Springs is just a few miles down the road if you need to stop in town for anything. Next time we come we will bring our dogs. The campground had several families with dogs and it was nice. Overall we had a great time! We will definitely be coming back with more people!

Friday night everybody was partying hard all night. The sweet sound of a man vomiting at 2 am really gets the chef’s kiss from me. I was glad to leave the peace and quiet of city life to experience the booming stereos and loud conversations of nature. Saturday seemed to be much more quiet and I got some sleep, which really bummed me out. I hate waking up to quiet calm and a nice sunrise without hung over zombie people wandering around and keeping me on edge.

Good campground. I towed my Arctic Cat Wildcat (off road side-by-side) to campground and did the 3N16 trial. Hope to do it again in the spring. I wish the campground was open through October instead of closing on Oct 9.
@JaredB204 · Camped on Sep 24, 2021 at Campsite #17
The road to the campground is a dirt road. I thought it was a decent road but if you are sensitive, you might think it’s treacherous. 17 is a very sunny spot, almost no shade. That could be good or bad depending on you. Natural water flow is seasonal at best. Trash fills up quickly, so expect to pack out your trash. Plenty of vehicle trails near by. Short drive away from town and the lake. All in all, a decent spot.

Great time to spend with friends! Fantastic Hikes! Awesome campground!!
@CarlosP539 · Camped on Jul 30, 2021 at Campsite #10
Our experience here wasn't the best because of the people we had camping near us, but I want to rate this purely on the facilities and grounds, which were beautiful and all around well maintained and fun. The road to get there can be challenging and is best suited for cars with a bit of clearance, but there were plenty of typical sedans and everyday cars that seemed to have made it there perfectly fine. This is a campground used mostly by people looking to do off-roading or dirt-biking, so be prepared for that if it's not your intended activity. Also beware of the racoons. They are pretty accustomed to humans from what it seems and are comfortable getting relatively close to you if there's a chance of food. They will scare away easily though. Definitely would visit again.

Came out for one night and it was the perfect get away. The ride in isn’t as bad as it sounds. We were worried most about the drive after reading other reviews. There’s great views on the way in. Campground is pretty secluded so it made for great camping. Bathrooms were cleaned and stocked daily. No fires allowed at the moment but that wasn’t a problem we took a propane grill.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
