Campsite 18 - large open space. good for star gazing, probably want a canopy for the day time. 20 ft trailer and 20 ft F150 fit like a glove, probably could've fit a slightly bigger setup too. will be back.

Beautiful area with a big meadow. Clean campgrounds and bathrooms. Very kind hosts. Big Bear Lake is very close by to get more ice and fresh cuts at Stater Bros.

Very nice campground overall!

Very few campers, very quiet and clean. Please fix your online map, campsites 55 and 56 are reversed. We booked 56 and instead of being on the outer loop it was next to the restrooms. Hosts said it has been this way quite a while.

Hugh the campground host greeted us with great enthusiasm and we instantly felt welcomed. There are plenty of water spigots throughout the campground and vaulted toilets which were kept very clean and smelling like cherries. Firewood is available for sale and aside from the +100 degree temperature during the day and huge bugs flying around at night we managed to make it an epic camping weekend. Great places to hike and because this campground is so large we stayed mostly within paved areas and still hiked a few miles each day. It is only about 20 minutes away from Big Bear Lake. We will definitely be back. Thanks again for your hospitality Hugh!

I can’t help but give this a 5 star review! It’s a gem of a campground from the amiable & awesome camp hosts to the large & spacious camp sites … even the vault toilets were well-maintained & clean (a hard feat I know for such a large campground). This was a special place & we will be back! Thank you Heart Bar!

Nice campground overall. Access to aspen grove trail and fish creek trails. Trails are somewhat overgrown due to fire. Sites are large and provide shade. Camp host came by to check on us and ask if we needed anything. They sell and will deliver firewood to your campsite which is a nice service.

Best family Campground ever. Up in the mountains fresh air, tons of room, amazing, camp hosts, clean, and great family time. We have been going for over a decade and will continue to go each year.

First time here and loved it, stayed on a Monday for one night, only 4 sites were booked, we were the only tenters, amazing views, spacious site, very peaceful area, the bathroom was ok just very dark inside and no flushing toilet just a hole, plenty of shade at this site, lots of red ants in one area of site but we managed, bring cash for firewood ($5), Host Hugh was very nice to let me pay him back, which I had To mail to him bc lots of construction on Hwy 38 so I couldn’t Drive to atm, great place for dogs, trails close by, apparently there’s helicopter training in the valley next to site, but it didn’t last very long and pretty cool to watch, at night it gets very cold so be prepared. Overall fun and peaceful experience! Highly recommend! Will come back!

Heart Bar is located off of Highway 38 on the way to Big Bear at an altitude of approximately 6,700 feet. It's a great option in the summer for families to escape the heat at lower elevations and provides numerous opportunities for adventure. The campsites are spacious and covered by mature pine trees. The campsite is located just a few miles from Jenk's Lake for easy access to fishing, and sits off the Fish Creek/1N02 Forest Road that will take you to the PCT connector at Mission Springs. This forest road will also take you to the backside of Dry Lake--about a 4 mile hike, which is a nice backpacking trip to 9,000, and puts you in easy reach of San Gorgonio summit (11,508 ft.) for an extended day hike or an overnight. Big Bear is just 30 minutes up the road, which provides numerous opportunities to go fishing, charter a boat, enjoy the town, go bowling, etc. The campsite bathrooms are clean, but are not flush toilets (pit/vault type). There are at least two potable water sources in the Sugar Loaf area of the campgrounds--they are blue pipes with faucets--they probably should be marked with a sign as they are inside campsites, but nonetheless are accessible. Even in the summer temperatures can drop into the low 40's, and it can get hot. During our stay, daytime highs were in the mid 60's with overnight lows just above 40. All in all, it's remote yet close, gives you access to numerous areas in the region and is a great spot for families with kids and pets.

awesome campground and will be back. came up memorial weekend and it wasn't as packed as we thought it might be. a few families that were a little loud throughout the day but didn't bother us. they usually turned in pretty early. we were at campsite 25 with a 20' trailer and a f150. it was tight to get into the spot, it's an awkward angle. there were better campsites that we will pick next time. host drove by with firewood which was nice. i chose it since highway 38 is a little less steep than the others but we still wanted to be in the mountains. 7,000 ft elevation is no joke either way, be prepared if you plan to hike.

Heart Bar is quiet and flat with friendly and helpful hosts. No cell phone signal, but you can't have everything now can you?

Great spot! Clean sites, clean restrooms. No running plumbing but not an issue. Sites are massive so there’s decent room to stretch out and still have privacy.

Very clean, shade trees, very friendly campground host, and the sites were very well spaced.

Lovely and spacious campsite. Plenty of space between neighbors. Lots of trees . Even a hailstorm couldn't ruin this spot. A water pump was right next door. There's a path directly across the road from the campsite that leads to the toilets, no need to take the long way along the paved road. Signage to get to campsites it pretty good, but I wish there was better signage toward the exit. I had no cell service with Google Fi.

Our time here at the Heart Bar campground was great overall. Spacious campsite far away from others to have our own privacy. The campsite was fully equipped with a picnic table, bear box, and grill ring. The only thing I wish was that the camp hosts were more available as we went to look for them several times and couldn't find them. Plus the firewood we were sold by them seemed of poor quality. Better to get at a nearby supermarket.

Overall, it is a very nice campground. Very few people mid week last week before closing. Started with 2 Stellar Jays and ended up with 14, plus several chipmonks and grey squirrels. What almost killed my buzz were the bugs. Those little flies that go up your nose and in your ears. We tried everything; Raid, Off, Citronella candles, nothing worked. We ended up sitting in campfire smoke most of the time so as to defeat the little bastards. May come again armed with Mosquito coils or more bug killer to nuke the area prior to set up. But I really don't like using chemicals where birds or other animals may eat the downed insects and get sick.

First time at Heart Bar. A beautiful, rustic campground with plenty of space. I was part of group of guys that had 10 campsites adjacent to one another. Such a great experience!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
