We love Hilltop. The campsite was clean and felt secluded. We hiked down to Lynx Lake with our dogs. It is a great hike and took about half an hour from our site. Will be back next year when the season opens.

Facilities adequate, easy access, experience marred slightly by weekend warrior drunks bloviating into the night
@DebraC1743C063 · Camped on Oct 21, 2024 at Campsite #31
Site was level and my husband who is on a walker was able to move about with minimal difficulty. Access to water was just across from the camp site but the water was turned off for maintenance.

Very quiet campground mid- week in October. Vault toilets were clean. Great hiking from campground. Very convenient to Walmart & Gas.

Lynx lake is one of our favorite places to camp and we come back almost every year

This campground was clean, well maintained and had good shady spots from the forest trees. However, there was NO WATER ANYWHERE! None of the water pump stations worked. There was one 55 gallon drum of water outside the outhouse-restrooms, however, it was sealed and you would need your own bung wrench and hand pump to access the water in the drum. (I think the drum of water was there for staff only to clean the outhouses.) I brought drinking water with me, but I had planned to use campground water for doing dishes, brushing teeth, etc. and was disappointed when I had to leave camp, drive to town and purchase more bottled water for camp clean-up and hygiene.One other thing I didn't like about the campground is that there were steel posts embedded in the ground that prevented me from backing up my vehicle to the concrete picnic table. This was very inconvenient for car camping as I didn't pitch a tent and was using my car as part of my "camping rig" to sleep in and keep gear in that I didn't want to get wet. So, I ended up setting up my tarp and a portable camp table on the asphalt driveway rather than using the designated camping area as it was too far away my vehicle. Why do they prevent people from backing up their vehicle into the camping space??? Is it because they don't want a vehicle near the fire pit??? Even if I had pitched a tent, it still would of been inconvenient and difficult for me to carry all my gear that far away from my vehicle to a "vehicle-free" camping area. I would of needed a wagon or cart to assist me, and even then, I don't know if the gap between the steel posts was wide enough for a wagon, nor was there room in my car to pack a wagon for towing gear! To me, this is just government making it difficult for people to camp! It requires a person to be young, strong and fit, and is not very ideal for seniors! Nor is it very ideal for car camping or RV camping!

Much better than Lynx campground. Spaces are further apart and more quiet.

This is my favorite campground, I love the sites and the proximity to Lynx Lake. Tip: Pick up firewood on your way in. Host was "off duty" at 4:30 on Sunday afternoon.

Not having access to water was an inconvenience (of which we were notified in advance), but this is still one of our favorite campgrounds. The sites are well spaced, well maintained and nicely laid out and the toilets are always clean. It is amazing to find such a great campground so close to downtown Prescott with easy access to all of the areas' wonderful lakes. The resident owls and coyotes have serenaded us on the several occasions we have stayed at Hilltop.

The camp ground was beautiful except for the problem of having no water available in the entire camp ground nor down by the lake. The lake is beautiful but the parking on weekends is a nightmare. They definitely need to add more parking.

Site 20 in Hilltop Campground is great for tent camping but not so good for RVs or travel trailers. That's because the pad is basically just a shoulder of the road that travels through the campground. Tent campers will be treated to a nice flat, well-groomed area to pitch a tent (or two) adjacent to a huge concrete picnic table and fire ring.

Me and my family LOVED IT!!!! We wished we could have stayed longer, but we had no idea we would be camping at hiltop until the day of. So unfortunately, we were only able to book for one night, but it was still absolutely amazing. The host was AMAZING!!!!! The campsite that we had was BEAUTIFUL! It was almost set up like an apartment lol I Recommend this campsite! YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE AS ME AND MY FAMILY DID. We plan to go back I'm a few weeks/months. And the price is so cheap.

Camp sites are set apart with some space. No water or hookups is more difficult.

Very clean campsite. Close to the lake but recommend that you go early as parking was tough. Love that its close to Prescott and the amount of trees there were. Campsite attendant was very helpful and was present during our stay and even cleared out a group that was in our campsite without a reservation before we arrived.

Hilltop Campground is a very nice family campground. Many sites are shaded and sites aren't on top of each other. The campground is located far enough so you can enjoy the forest and close enough to shopping. And the Camp Host, Andrew is very nice and checks on his campers frequently. Andrew helps make your camping experience very enjoyable.

Our family has been doing a Mothers Day campout for several years and the last three have been at Hilltop Campground. We have been very satisfied with everything. We already have one of the group spots reserved for 2025 Mothers Day.

We always enjoy Hilltop Campground. It is clean and well maintained. We have easy access to potable water and vault toilets. Lynx Lake is just down the hill. Our only minor hiccup this trip was the late night noise from other campsites. We had someone using impact tools at 1:00am, and a generator running all night. I have not experienced this on any other visit.

Our campsite was given away because the host did not do their due diligence to check we were there and gave away our second night reservation - We booked our campsite for two nights and were camping in our rooftop tent. The first night we arrived at 8:30 PM and left at 5:00 AM because we like to start early. We decided not to leave things at the site because of bears and our rooftop tent comes with us. When we arrived back for our second night, the host had given away our site to another family. The family said the host told them we hadnt been there in 24 hrs so our res was automatically cancelled. Luckily the family was very sweet and let us car camp next to their truck, however it could have been a really uncomfortable situation and almost left us stuck without a place to stay. Would appreciate if the host would actually do the work to check if people are there, especially hikers who start early and end late and prefer to leave minimal impact on the site

We had a great time at Hilltop. The spaces were far enough apart to feel private. There was hiking right from the campground to Lynx lake.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
