Stayed in site #29. This site is somewhat near the road and if you place your tent south of the firepit, you will encounter some headlights at night. The site is very large with 2 different spots for 8-10 man tents. Upon arrival there was some minor trash and dog poop around the immediate area, but nothing that wasn't cleaned up in a few minutes. This site has 2 paths with direct access to the creek behind the site. The fire a few years ago seemed to graze some of the trees at this site but just the bottom half of most. There is ample shade and some sun. The bathroom is a quick 30 second walk. The only downside about being so close to the creek is the mosquitos. This site would have had 4/5 starts if the mosquitos wouldn't have been so overwhelming. We were prepared for some being that its close to the creek but the amount of mosquitos was overwhelming. It could have been due to work being done on the water lines as well. If you have a 30-32 ft RV it would fit on the pad, although the space is narrow. There may not be enough room to park you truck if you have a 26-30 ft trailer, as the pad is narrow. The camp host is very pleasant and is a long term host if you have any issues. The water lines were being worked on during our stay but fortunately we had toilet use and able to use water but it was non-potable. The camp host came around the night before and warned that bathrooms were not available after 8:30 the next am. Host sells firewood. Frenchmens Lake is about 20 min away by car and a nice break. I would recommend this camp site but just bring a lot of repellant. The calming sound of the creek at night and the stars are worth the stay.

This is my second time staying at Chilcoot. There are big discrepancies between the camp sites. Some barely hold 1 tent and others are massive. Now that Ive been a couple of times, I know which lots are great vs. tight. Bathrooms flush & are clean. The creek is ice cold! I kinda love this place.

I absolutely love camping at Chilcoot! The fire did some damage but its still beautiful!!! I have camped at the lake at different campgrounds but Chilcoot is my favorite the sites are spacious and most are private. The creek was running high this summer after the wet winter. Listening to the Greek and watching it is so peaceful. The camp hosts brought us firewood from the lake as we had no host this time around. I will Lord willing be back soon!!

Chilcooting!!!! I have been camping here since the early 90’s and can’t think of a time I haven’t enjoyed it. The camp host Robert was friendly, kind, polite, and helpful. The restrooms were clean as were the sites. It was full for the 4th of July weekend yet peaceful. Never a bad time at Chilcoot.

Great campground next to a beautiful creek. Unfortunately, the restrooms near our site were locked. There was a portapotty available and it was clean but would have been nice to have close access to flushing toilets. This campground has no showers.

Camp Site 27 and the other sites on the river, along with most of the sites at the far end of the campground were not affected by the Beckwourth Compound Fire, as beautiful as always with plenty of shade. not have the usual flushing toilets at that end of the campground was a bummer but the sani-hut was maintained and kept clean. Camp host visits were pleasant and friendly, keeping the bathrooms at the entrance of the campsite nice and clean. Absolutely lovely and relaxing visit, as always. LOVE this place!!

Loved this campground! Only set back is that there is ZERO service. There is a Texaco at the turn before the last drag, I recommend stopping there for any calls or texts that you need to send :)

The camp hosts/hostess at the Chilcoot sites have been amazing for the past 3 years we've been camping here. They take great care of their guests and ensure the bathrooms are clean and in good working order. I can't say enough good things about Reta and Robert. As far as the campgrounds, neat and tidy...well laid out. No bad sites here, as all are within close proximity to the creek for water fun and/or fishing. A quick drive to the north is Frenchman Lake and back down the highway you have delicious food and a quaint general store. We will be back next year for certain, if not sooner.

Very nice campsite just 7 minutes away from the lake! Camp hosts are great people! A creek runs right along the campground and there are a ton of trees so plenty of shade. We will be back again.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
