We had a great campsite but wished there were some campsite photos to look at before reserving. Also, we never saw a camp host while we were there.

The campground is decent, but this area is currently experiencing a tussock moth outbreak. During summer, the caterpillars are everywhere. Several people in our group had mild/moderate allergic reactions to the caterpillar hairs (rash, cough, shortness of breath).

The campsite was great. There were many trees, and the vault bathroom was clean and well-kept. We were on the outside of the loop, and the kids had a lot of space to explore and play. Plenty of room to set up hammocks. The downside was I wish we knew there was a tussock moth outbreak before we arrived. We showed up in the rain, so we didn't see any signs of them until the next day when it was too late. Thousands were all over our stuff. We saw the sign not to touch and did our best, but the cocoons & eggs were all over the underside of the picnic table. They were falling from the sky - from trees and our shade. We didn't have any initial reactions, but after getting home, the entire family broke out in hives covering our bodies. Seemed like a delayed reaction. Packing up took three times as long because we needed to ensure we weren't bringing them with us when they were covering and trying to build cocoons in our tent and all of our stuff.

Sites are all on a grade, needed to raise one side of camper six inches and modify the stairs to be able to use them.

The campground is great but the vault toilets were some of the worst I have ever seen. They were so full it wasnt really usable. These must be cleaned out as this is part of what you are paying the fee to camp there.

The reservation process was really simple and we had no issues with obtaining our site as reserved. We did experience a lot more bugs than we are typically use to experiencing when we camp. Which was awkward and bothersome. We arent sure if it had something to do with the sites location or the time of season (July) but the horse flies and caterpillars where invasive to say the least. Not sure if there are steps the owners of the site can take to minimize this, but it might be worth looking into. Also, there was high grass all over our site which made it difficult to fully utilize the space for tents, outdoor activities, and games. The fire pit appeared to be newer and was well maintained. It is a quiet and beautiful place with lots of shade and rock formations. Close to Deckers and the rivers. The vaulted bathrooms are small and were not cleaned out periodically through out our stay so being close to the Deckers convenient store with a flushable bathroom was definitely a bonus. Overall, the site was nice and we had a great time. Recommend for parties needing 2 or less tents.

Kelsey campground is great, love the location and size of the campsites. However, the camp host wasn't very attentive this year.

This campground is a small loop. Very quiet. The trail head is on the campground loop, so I was able to hike the 14 mile trail right from camp. We brought our trailer and our site was not level. We had to do some serious improvisation in order to level out. Vault toilets clean. Great night sky views. Would come back.

We had fun hiking the trails around the campground.

This campground is close to a major road. So about 5am expect to be awaken by steady traffic. There was also lots of caterpillars all over. Must be an infestation. Other than that, we had a fun time.

Not the hosts' fault but there was extremely loud trance like music coming from somewhere outside the campground from 9:30pm to 6:30am. We left a day early so we could get some sleep. Also the sites are very sloped.

I love this campground. This is our second trip. We were shocked to have cell service this year, the year before we had none. The location is wonderful for hiking and exploring. The only downside was the fact the bathrooms needed attention. This is likely our timing as the bathrooms needed to be drained of waste.

Great campsite
@SheriA6675326 · Camped on Jul 8, 2022 at Campsite #13
We stayed in site 14. It was easy to back into, shaded, a private site, and we had a couple bars of cell service on AT&T. The bathrooms were clean. It would have been a 5 star review, but our site and many of the others are not very level for RV's. We needed at least 6 inches side to side and almost 2 feet under the tongue to get our RV level.

Superb site with pad sites of reasonable size and plenty of open space to explore. Our site was on the CO 126 side and had minor traffic noise, but mostly during the day. Great for tent camping, especially, which is what we were looking for. And lots to explore for the kids. Water supply is fresh and fairly convenient - we walked to and from. The trail from the campground is gradual and friendly for any skill level, but it is very popular with mountain bikers, so watch out if you are hiking with little ones tagging along. We look forward to staying here again. NOTE: As some other reviewers have said, the map showing the pad sites and amenities is inaccurate, especially for the restrooms, garbage, and water. The pad sites are fairly accurate.

Chill, small campground right off 126. South-setting sites probably have a bit of highway noise but there was a good tree buffer. Many of the sites are advertised for length up to 45ft, but most have a pretty decent slope. I was glad my van was only 19ft long. I had site 010 which backed up to endless wilderness which made it feel pretty isolated. Fine vault toilets. I didn’t see water and I didn’t see trailheads. Something to look up in advance.

The campground was really clean and quiet, and the spaces are pretty spread out (we stayed at site #9). The camp hostess, Ruth, was super friendly and our stay was wonderful!

If your looking for an off grid weekend. This is your spot. The main road is close enough that there is road noise. Be prepared for storing your food and preparation materials in bear proof containers. A very simple campground that provided a great retreat from day to day life.

The sites are a little closer than I like but still very enjoyable. I rented campsites 2 & 3. The map did not accurately list the campsite locations. I had gotten the two sites thinking they were next to each other, but in fact, they faced each other across the camp loop. Bonus to this campground, there is plenty of room to wander around and enjoy nature. The ground has some lovely rocky areas to explore. If I remember correctly there are only two bathrooms (again the map does not show the location correctly) and one trash spot. It does not take long to walk the loop so the number of bathrooms and trash is appropriate for the size.

Mostly quiet location. Close to highway but not much traffic. Woke up to heavy machinery in the area...not sure if that is constant or periodic. Nice overall.

I had a very pleasant experience camping at Kelsey Campground, Site #5. I was there during the week, not the weekend, and there were only a few other campers. It was quiet, clean and the camp host was present on and off throughout the week. I enjoyed the access to the Little Scraggy trail especially. The "Loop" trail that goes from the campground to the Little Scraggy trail is gorgeous, winding through a large meadow full of wildflowers. I am assuming the experience would be different during the weekend. I arrived on Monday, July 5, and there were some obnoxious campers present in a couple of sites nearby with large 5th wheel trailers, running generators, playing loud music and generating clouds of marijuana smoke. They left by mid-afternoon, and I assume they were left over from the weekend/July 4. Everyone that camped during the week was quiet and friendly. FYI - if you have solar, Site #5 is situated perfectly for getting sun on your roof panels!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
