No host while we were there, but another one stocked firewood and left a money can so you could collect it. Bathrooms were well maintained. Flat spots for tents are challenging to findon site 27, but not impossible. It's pretty close to the bathroom without being next to it, but very far from the water pump.

The restrooms were very well maintained. The campground was very quiet. The trash bins were very full by the end of the week.

Great location, clean campsite and bathrooms, good time overall. No camp host at all when we were there and a truck only came by one evening (out of the 3 we were there) to sell firewood which was a bummer.

The experience at Lodgepole (Jefferson Lake, Fairplay Colorado) was great. It is a bit inaccessible due to rocky roads and might be a little bit risky if you don't have an SUV. In the end it was well worth the trip due to its isolated nature. One is in the lap of nature with a lake just 10 mins drive away. Night time views a really good.It is isolated so no bath but there's a restroom minus the plumbing so good to carry some sanitizing wipes.

Nice hosts, beautiful hiking trail on the campground that led to a stream. Site 17 is directly behind the bathrooms which caused random gusts of unpleasant odor.

Great campground and very well maintained, only problem is that sites 7 & 8 descriptions are switched on recreation. Gov

Campground is clean. Most campers are respectful. Even though there are a lot of sites, you do feel your privacy. There was a guy playing a guitar and singing, a few dogs that joined in. The only gripes I have are: the washboard road to get there.$9 daily fee on top of what you pay for reservations and booking fee and Random generator running during quiet hours.But, I can get past this for the hiking trails, fishing, moose, snd heron.

On Monday, July 24, 2023 I reserved 030 at the Lodgepole campground near Fairplay, CO for Friday nite July 28-29, 2023. When we arrived the site was reserved for someone else for July 28-30. The camp hosts were very uninformed about what we should do. The man told us to set up camp since the others had not arrived but his wife told us we could not have the site. Both of them said they had never had this happen before and didn't know what to do. So we left and drove back to Denver. very frustrated and disappointed! I had proof of our reservation on my phone but they would not accept it.

Campsite is at incline, the most level spot to put a tent is tiny and right next to the gravel road, the picnic table and fire ring are further up the incline, be aware, host are asking for a 9$ fee per car to enter. People at the campsite were loud and negligent of the quiet hours. The lake requires a 5-10min drive.

The hosts are so nice and this campsite was very large. However, don’t bring your grandma or anyone fragile to it. This particular site you have to scamper up a steep part to get to the site and it’s very slippery. There’s also an incredible amount of bugs, but hey, it’s camping!

The campsite was absolutely beautiful!! And private, with the tent pad being tucked in the back. The hiking trails nearby were awesome and Jefferson Lake up the road was fantastic too! Everything about the beauty and recreation part of this location was amazing! What wasn’t great was the camp hosts. And the lack of firewood. The website says you can buy firewood on-site. We tried to do that but were told that “they haven’t brought us any but they were supposed to”. We found some that somebody had left behind, but if it wasn’t for that, we wouldn’t have had any. So don’t count on them having firewood. Bring your own. As far as the camp hosts, well, we arrived around 4pm (checkout time is 12p), and our campsite was still occupied. The people were sleeping in their tent. Their whole camp was still set up. We couldn’t find the camp host anywhere. We waited and looked. And waited and looked some more. We finally tracked the hosts down, who made a few excuses for why our campsite was still occupied. Yes I’m aware that people will try to get away with things, but it’s also the responsibility of the camp host to make sure those sites are clear for the next camper. He finally went and talked to them. We had to wait for the people to break camp and clean up, after we’d spent a bunch of time trying to find the camp host. The whole thing was just frustrating. We’ve never had an experience like this before with campers or with camp hosts. It was a disappointment.

Campsite was very nice. Camp hosts were great! Bathrooms were very clean. Great scenery, hiking and fishing on the creek and at Jefferson Lake

We prefer Aspen for tent camping but the west side of lodgepole has sites in the trees if Aspen isn't available.

Nice campground! Definitely will return. Our outer loop tent sites (26 & 27) were perfect, lots of space for the tents way back from the road up the incline. Plenty of shade back there. Parking for 2 vehicles easily in each site. We saw a mother moose and her twin calves in the campground one morning, what a surprise! Very clean vault toilets located every 5-8 campsites. The lake was quite a distance with significant elevation gain from the campground, so we drove. It was beautiful. The beaver ponds were cool too. Excellent camping weather, warm during the day, cold at night. CONS: Did not know there is an additional fee ($9 per vehicle) on top of camping fees to enter the NF area. Had to return to Jefferson to use the ATM, which was annoying. Never saw anything about that fee online. // Water pump said it was unchlorinated, so we avoided it, didn't know for sure if it was potable. We had brought water so we had no worries. // The "grill" is incorporated into the firepit and its so high up, it takes a rather large fire to cook anything. We had to cook burgers and dogs on the camp stove in a fry pan. Grill was almost useless. Minor inconveniences, and we had backup plans for all of it. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Always like camping at Lodgepole with the wildlife and hiking trails nearby plus short drive to Jefferson Lake which is a must. Clean restrooms and sites with lots of space in between sites. Only thing that was little challenging was finding a level service to pitch my tent (site 14). Sites are maintained but some sites appear to be rocky but made do. Nice hiking trail at the end of the campground that hooks up to various trails in the area.

This camp site has been one of our favorites for the last 4 years. Unfortunately, this trip was spoiled by the Camp Host running their generator almost constantly -- including 10 PM - 6AM! Apparently, they think they're exempt from following camping rules. And we weren't they only ones in the campground that were annoyed by their inconsideration. In previous years the camp hosts have been very friendly and asked if we needed anything. Don't camp here if you expect a decent night's sleep.
@MarcRB7B77FC2E · Camped on Jul 2, 2023 at Campsite #19
Nice clean campsite. Biggest detraction of the campground was the camp hosts! Apparently, they do not have to abide by the same rules as everyone else when it comes to quiet hours and run their generator ALL night long. All other guests observed the quiet hour rules, but not the hosts. Have seen multiple other reviews that have all said the same thing about the hosts. It's a shame that they do not observe the rules and think it's ok to be disruptive.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
