Great group camp! I definitely recommend going later in the season (reserve asap, this gets booked fast) if you want to avoid cold overnights. My sister and Mom drove over from western WA to meet my family (NCW) for a camping trip. We grew up as "blue tarp campers" and are used to camping in the rain, but the wind coming off the Icicle was cutting and bitterly cold. Thankfully, there was no burn ban in effect since we were so early in the season so we were able to enjoy a roaring and toasty fire.In previous reviews I read you needed to "pack in" your gear from parking and use a provided wheelbarrow. That was not our experience at all, but I brought a garden cart just in case. Parking is down the hill beyond the gate right at the tent sites. So as long as you have the gate access code (which is emailed to you), you shouldn't have to pack anything in. Instead, we let our kids ride down the hill in the garden cart and used it to haul wood to the fire pit. So it was good to have just the same.There are three picnic tables, so if you have a larger group you probably want to bring extra tables. My sister and her fianc brought two folding tables for food prep and holding water jugs (no water provided on site) and used one provided picnic table for cooking and we sat at the others or around the fire in our chairs. We had 5 adults, 5 kids, and 2 large dogs in our group and this site was the perfect size. Plenty of room for our tents (we used a total of 4 tents), chairs, the two extra tables, and canopies. We had access to the creek in a couple spots and the two port-a-potties were well-maintained and clean. Vehicles going further up the road were mostly hidden by the trees above. The creek was loud enough to drown out any of that potential noise out.The space is serene and we didn't have issues with yellowjackets (probably too cold for them yet) and while there were plenty of ground bees, they weren't a nuisance at all and left us alone.

Awesome campground, right next to the Wenatchee River and not far from Leavenworth. Picnic tables, fire pit, ample tent and parking area and a clean porta potty. The campsite has access to a beautiful swimming hole that we spent most of our time at. Also lots of scenic hiking opportunities. Yellow Jackets have made nests in the ground in the parking area, so make sure you have what you need to deal with wasps before you show up at camp. we brought two traps and they kind of worked, but from 10am to about 7pm they were all over us. Cooking and eating at camp was difficult during the day. Otherwise a beautiful site.

The phone number provided in the email you receive prior to your stay says to call the ranger district to find out the code for the wheelbarrow. First, that phone number is disconnected. Second, they no longer ask visitors to haul gear from street level and do not provide a wheelbarrow in order to do so. You instead are allowed to drive down. The email needs to be updated. Icicle Group is my favorite USFS campsite!!!

Two stars because once we got the gate open, our experience was wonderful. This place, however, is managed poorly at best. We reserved the Icicle Creek Group site which is locked up. This is from the email they sent me: "Guests must contact the Area Manager by calling (509) 548-3026 to obtain the lock combination to the wagon before arrival." The number is dead. That's correct. Disconnected number. How can you be a manager of a prime camping spot like this and give out a dead number for the lock combination? This is really really important. I called the number a few days before arrival. I tried calling the reservation phone number but only got a guy in another state that had absolutely no clue how to help me. I found other numbers to call. All of them unmanned and no one answered. Some allowed you to leave a message. I did. No call back. These people absolutely do not want to be gotten ahold of. Furthermore, the email confirmation they sent goes one way so you cannot respond to it or ask questions. On the day of reservation, we just showed up. Sure enough the gate was locked. I drove to the ranger station in town and that is closed. There are phone numbers posted but all went to a service and no one answered on a Sunday. A ranger drove by and she said to go to one of the other campgrounds and find a site manager. I did and he drove to the site and let us in. He was a hero for sure but this agency does not have it together at all. One star or ever negative star for them. Five stars the the site. It was fantastic. Hope you fix this stupid shit you're doing. It really messes with people's experiences.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
