Mice. Everywhere. Not just the mice droppings to clean up. We were trapping live mice every day. They were walking in the sink. On the beds. Everywhere.

The cabin was super clean and cozy and very well outfitted. It would have been helpful to have a little more signage or cabin instructions regarding the availability of the pull flashlights versus us trying to light the defunct propane lights ha ha.Bike riding up the canyon was great as very little traffic and the little path from the cabin to the creek with a bench seat was a beautiful setting.

The cabin was modern as other ones we had previously rented but it didn't have electricity but running hot water. The cabin host is just next to the cabin so you have always someone next to it and it is located on the street so you really hear the cars going by. We couldn't find any good trail seems people used them for dirty bikes so they are very dusty . The little river that crosses it is charming . I would say this is the only benefit. I wouldn't rent it again.

Nice spot to get-a-way in summer, be chill, and read all day. Cabin is located between a gravel parking area that is shared with dumpster, the caretaker's RV and generator. The cabin doesn't have electricity, but battery lanterns were provided. The shower is great. There is a strong propane odor, and the cabin is right next to a road with loud bikes and atv's throughout the day, but otherwise very quiet, with a sweet little creek right next to the parking area. Easy walk to the main campground. We couldn't find any trails nearby, unless you get in your car to find one, and then the trails tend to be for the mountain bikers.

Pros: whole cabin to yourself. Full-on kitchen and bathroom. Running water, flush toilet, hot shower, stove/oven, fridge. A couch to lounge on. The bed is comfortable. Ample parking. Camp host resource if you need it. Creek nearby that you can hear with the windows open. There are times of absolute serene and bliss; just nature and the creek) One of the few forest service cabins that allows pets, Cons: it’s right next to the road, so not terribly private. The camp host is basically your neighbor. Camp host may have a generator that drowns out the creek. No heat, so even if the high will be 80, prepare for the overnight and mornings with cold weather clothes and heavy blankets. If it’s hot out, you’ll have the windows open, but then you are also hearing every vehicle that goes by. All the toys (motorcycles, atv’s, dune buggies) are quite loud. Large black ants roam the floors and walls. We didn’t bother them, they didn’t bother us. Voluminous amounts of Mouse droppings in many of the cabinets and drawers. Suggest you pre-wash any of the supplied dishes if you are going to use them. The quaint gas lighting throughout the cabin has been mostly dismantled ; the staff has provided battery operated led lanterns. Not quite the same “vibe.” One of the requirements of the stay is that you clean up before you leave. A note on the wall tells of locations of cleaning supplies. But those locations are all empty. The only thing I can find is a broom. Aside from the bed, every piece of furniture is either broken or about to break. Given all of the above, I’m still glad we came here for the weekend. All the forest service cabins have a beyond rustic slant to them. I know what we are getting when we reserve one. It’s not a b&b, it’s not a hotel, it IS a step up from camping, but these buildings are OLD and their upkeep is kept to a minimum to allow them to be accessible to the general public for a not-exorbitant price. I get it.

We had a great time at the Cabin. I thought it was very clean for a forest service cabin. I stayed with my 2 kids ages 12 and 5 and they liked it. One random note is that 2 of the gas lamps are not connected. The biggest problem with them being not connected was me, trying to light them for 15min until i traced the pipe and realized it was not connected. The wood stove kept us warm on the one chilly night. The motorcycles and off road vehicles were a mixed bag. They were not going all the time and mostly trucks carrying them went by. But one of the days a caravan of 5 trucks with off-road vehicles all parked in front of the cabin and unloaded for about an hour. It would have bugged me with my hopes and dreams of a quiet time, but the kids thought it was cool.

It was a decent stay. It's a bit disappointing that it was so close to the road so we had to hear all the dirt bikes going up and down all day. Had a camp attendant and his wife staying in their RV right next door, they were really nice and kept to themselves.. The area is gorgeous and if you want to get out into the woods for solitude it's right outside. Don't think for a second this cabin is a motel! It's one step up from rustic and that was part of the charm. From reading the registration book far too many guests thought they were getting something more luxurious. Lol , not for this price. If you are afraid of insects and rodents, go elsewhere. If you are used to camping and want something more comfortable than a tent this is the place you want.

The cabin itself is very nice and clean. A small few things to be aware of: There is one decent bed and a hide-a-bed that is not great. The fridge can run really cold and will freeze food if not set properly. There was a mouse in the cabin who will gladly eat through food that is left out. The cabin is sort of on the road as opposed to on the river, and at the moment, the camp host is set up between the cabin and the river, so it's not a particularly private location, especially as they ran their generator for most of the afternoon and evening.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
