Loved our campsite. We go every year. Grew up camping at this campground.

I found that Mon-Thru is the best time to stay if you like peace & quiet. With the three unit per site now allow for more party groups to come on the weekends, making for an unplecent stay. Being a reservation site only makes it hard to move when people come in next to you with pets that do excessive barking. Let just put point blank. Over the last 50yrs it's gone from a ratting of 5 to a 3 out of a 1 thru 5 ratting.I see that they done away with a lot of the activities set more for family fun like movie nights. Not keeping the hiking trail clean & well maintained for use. Bridges that use to be crossing water ditches in picinic area at boat ramp are gone making for limited access to them.It sad to say this but some of the camp-host, workers, & ranger do care about the campground while the rest are just doing it for the $$ an give you a attiude when you have a complaint.

Love the campground. I wish they wouldnt start draining the lake until after Labor Day though. Those few weeks cant make that much of a difference with the water levels. Its called Mill Creek Recreation but by Labor Day the water is too low to enjoy water recreations. Other than that I have no complaints.

Very nice campground at the lake with flush toilets and showers. Regular patrols by the county sheriff department and park staff at night. There was no firewood to buy when I checked in but my camp neighbor gave me some extra wood to burn

Other helpful info would be to at least put a pit toilet in that loop...you have to drive at least 1/2 mile to use the bathroom!

Always enjoy our stay there

Positives: 50a sites that are large and spread out. Good workerd/employees. Clean and mowed. Lots of space. Negatives: price was increased a lot this year. Only one bathhouse for a huge area. Water not at sites. Narrow roads. I expect there would be huge lines at dump stations

Camping areas spread apart with a choice of more sunny and/or shady sites. You can enjoy walks or ride bikes throughout campground. Nice boating or kayaking on lake. Downside, the use of loud generators, especially early morning 6-8am (when still trying to sleep, kids up too early then irritable later ) and evening 8-10pm (when trying to enjoy a quiet evening around campfire). The noise is irritating and just rude especially at the times mentioned.

OK campground as far as COE sites go. Seemed the grass had just been cut for the entire site. Few sites near the lake are level. I picked a site right next to the lake (M29). I had to deal with an 11 inch slope to level our 25 ft travel trailer!!!!! THAT was difficult to do. Only there one night, so can't say a lot more.

Overall, I had a good relaxing time. Very quiet during the weekdays, more noise as more campers moved in Friday night. The lake's water level was very low. The bathrooms here could use a modern upgrade. They were adequate. I'd like to see more shower areas, at least one shower house in each of the four sections. The numbering of the sites could be improved also. Each section had the same site numbers, so unless you know the section, the number of the sites could be confusing and difficult to find.

Large, well-maintained campground with electric sites in two of the loops. Many sites with access to the lake. The Maplewood area, M1-M13 sites that are big rig friendly but M21 and M23 have steep ditches on each side of the driveway so bring your best parking skills. A good place to stay when visiting Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

All in all, we had a great time, except for the rain. The camper next to us running their generator for a couple of hours was a little annoying. We always have a good time with the family.

We stayed there during a large storm and the power went out, but we were OK. The park post was doing their very best to clean the park. Its a beautiful park. We will stay there again.

We have stayed at many USACE campgrounds over the last 4 years and I am always telling other campers how great they are - NOT this one. On this loop the campsites were not being cleaned between campers. While the campers should not leave trash on their site, when they do the campground hosts should clean it. We stayed on this site 2 times in the month of August and both times we arrived to find trash and cigarette butts all around our site that we had to clean up. Also, outside the womens restroom there were several wads of tissue paper that remained there all week. This made me uncomfortable about the sanitary conditions of the restroom. This park could use some investment in upgrading facilities and that would be worth a little higher camping fee.

Overall nice experience with our camping trip. The only exception is we were camping in the primitive camping area ( no electricity hook up) but trailers come in and run loud generators most of the day and night. We like to go camping for the peace and quiet and not listen to generator noise 24/7. Generators should not be allowed in primitive camping areas.

I received an email that the camp was closed due to power failure and tree damage. Never got any information as to a refund.

Shower house needs improvement
@BrendaS8017425 · Camped on Aug 5, 2024 at Campsite #O84
This campground is a favorite of our family. There was a severe storm that caused a power outage this trip. Clean up and communication was excellent, but restrooms were closed without providing an alternative.
@MargaretG88915 · Camped on Aug 4, 2024 at Campsite #H4
I only gave 2 stars because the shower house was in a deplorable state.hair in the drains.floor and shower stalls had not been cleaned and vent was not working which looked like mold was growing in stalls.on the other hand had a severe storm while we were there with many trees down and electric was out but they were very quick to clean up.

@MirandaR883302 · Camped on Aug 2, 2024 at Campsite #H5
Hickory 3 & 5 were quite muddy and next to zero grassy area for a tent. The woods could be cut back a bit to get campers away from the ditch a bit. Lots of poison ivy at the edge of the woods. There was a bit of trash in the woods behind us, we asked to have it cleaned it up, but it never was over the course of our 5 day stay. The shower house was awful, standing water, shower curtains didnt even cover the whole opening of the shower entrance. Yuck.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
