This is the second year that the water system has not functioned. Also, there was some site maintenance that had not been done as per previous years, specifically mowing tall grasses for tents in site 27.

Beautiful place. Quiet. Our spot (14) was elevated so the water access had a steep bank. Shady. Plenty big spots, fairly level. Excellent experience. Would do again. Bridge over Selway is an experience.

Our family really enjoys our yearly family camp there

Unfortunately there was no campground host as there has been previously so routine maintenance of the facility was somewhat neglected. The water system has been down now for going on two years and there doesn't seem to be much effort on the part of the Forest Service to address this...the same is true of the dump station at the Fenn Ranger Station. Not sure what's going on but it shouldn't be a funding issues as the Reinvent America act recently passed included lots of money for the Forest Service to address and remedy issues like this.. It's still a beautiful campground in a nice location. I hope there's a turn around in there near future

I have camped at Ohara Campground for 52 years. This is probably the worst I have ever seen this campground in. Garbage receptacles not emptied and overflowing to the point of being strewn all over the area. No water available at the campground and obviously no mention of that when the reservations were made. I was told by park rangers that this has been an issue for two years now. I did have reservations for this same campground in 2022, but because of a massive rockslide, was unable to camp last year and my reservation $$'s were returned. We have gone as a family outing as I said for 52 years. We returned this year as a family to honor my husband and childrens father as he passed just 4 years ago. If he were still alive he would have been very disappointed as we were. No camp host, seemes no one cares!!!!!!!

Free of litter. Rangers came through every day. Garbage was taken care of adequately. I wish there was a section for vehicles with generators at one end and one end for tents and trailers. Unfortunately the Selway was chocolate brown flowing this year so we will be back next year to check it out for clear water!!

We stayed at campsites 13 and 30 during our stay. Both were very nice with river access.

There was no water available at the camp ground. Upon arrival the garbage dumpster was overflowing and wasnt picked up until Thur so almost a full week of garbage smell and potential for animals in the campground. The site has garbage in it and I picked up the trash left behind by others. Very sad that this lovely campground hasnt seen improvements except for new bathrooms in the 8 years I have been coming.

We utilize the O'hara campground with our family at least once per year. It was enjoyable and pleasantly quiet. There were only two items I would like to see improved. It appeared that last year at the same time the USFS had received the timbers necessary to repair the bridge. It still isn't repaired. Some of the timbers are sticking up to far. Last year there was someone's trailer disconnect brake cable stuck to the front of one of the boards. It's worse this year. It would have also been nice to have the water system working.

The camp Host, Donna, was extremely friendly and helpful. I loved the hikes near by and the waterfalls upriver were gorgeous.

Ohara was our favorite stop on our 16-day trip through the area. There is so much to do, so much to see. So much hiking, and biking. We'll be back to Raft. The campsite was amazing, clean and beautiful.

I got an email confirming my reservation two days prior. Then headed out but upon arrival the road was closed due to a rock slide and had been closed for a while. I was never informed of the fact. The Rec.gov support team was helpful and timely, but it took a couple weeks for my requested refund to be issued by the Facility Manager. But I did get my camping fees refunded. Better communication from the Facility Manager and more timely notifications from either the Facility Manager and/or Rec.gov cru would have saved me a trip and the disappointment.

The days we were there were great. The day before we were to leave there was a landslide. The landslide blocked the road and trapped ours and 30 other RVs. Getting our RV back has been problematic. It has been 10+ days and our RV is still trapped.

Awesome place to dry camp! Clean and well maintained. Love the man made pools on the Selway!

Ohara is a favorite campground. It is situated in mature woods, close by the river. There is enough space and vegetation to give a bit of privacy to most camp sites. Over time, we've had chipmunks, mice, ground squirrels (both Columbian and golden mantled), and deer in camp. I've heard of flying squirrels there, as well, but have never been lucky enough to see them. The campground is popular enough that I highly recommend making a reservation, especially if you have an RV and size requirements or if you get attached to a particular site.

My family gets together at Ohara once a year so we obviously like the campground and area. This is not a camp site with a lot of amenities. Many of the sites are to short for bigger rv's/trailers. There isn't any overflow parking for extra vehicles or trailers. It has a paved camping area, lots of shade, and USFS toilets. Water from can be had from various spigots in the camp area. Nothing you can hook up too. There is no wifi or phone service. These are the reasons our family likes to camp there. Along with easy access to the Selway River and narrow mountain dirt roads.
@BillWil7997924 · Camped on Jun 27, 2022 at Campsite #24
Beautiful campground and setting along the river - also very quiet. We stayed in space #24 and it is VERY TIGHT fit. We have a 27' and it was difficult (though I'm not a seasoned RV guy); no room along side the trailer on the pad for much of anything so all chairs, add'l cooking equipment and park table are to the rear of the trailer about 30 feet. We'll stay again but not in #24 - lots of other awesome spots!!!

The best campgrounds I have stayed at by far, very clean, quite, peaceful, beautiful cedar trees, and the relaxing sound of Selway river.

We've been camping at O'Hara for 20plus years. Never gets ol always can count on clean and tidy camping areas. Even though no host the area is maintained nicely and all campers are respectful of each other and the area.

Trash pick could have better and the Reservation system was not working on our second visit. Wonderful place, we will be back!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
