Beautiful camping area along the Clearwater River. What is there not to like. I'd camp there again, no hesitation.

Nice, quiet spot near the river. Super disappointed EVERYONE had their dogs off leash.

Typical Forest Service Campground, as the USFS lacks funding to keep them all in top shape. We found the birding trail over grown, benches with too much rot now, and obviously decades past prime time. Hikers also find little information, as the main thing here seems to be river rafters or packers. We just wanted to do a little day hike and had a tough time knowing what to do. Still a nice stay overall.

The water was on a bit early this year. Love it. Dont lock your keys in your car!

We were in C loop. Sites were basic and not well maintained. We were there over the Labor Day long weekend and did not see any park staff or host. Would try to stay in B loop if we were to stay in this campground again.

Everything was wonderful except the vault bathroom was disgusting. I have used some nasty bathrooms before but this was next level.

Camped in one of the pull-through sites and loved it! Went with a couple of friends, enjoyed our trip and getting to know the local wildlife including hummingbirds, snowshoe hare, ground squirrel, chipmunks and many others. We will definitely camp here again!

Beautiful area. Lots of construction going on, but no fault of campground. Exceptionally clean and well-cared for sites. Would have liked sites with a bit more privacy.

Water was contaminated. But no prior notice given. So had to travel miles to buy water for large group. Also, no toilet paper in the pit toilets. So had to go to town to buy that too. Campsite itself was fine. I would ask for some money back if I knew who to ask.

Campsites are a little small for group events, highly recommend using multiple sites for more than 4 people.
@PaulM6940902 · Camped on May 29, 2023 at Campsite #B18
Good - clean campsite. Only drawback was that the water system was apparently not tested, restroom was locked (privies open), and the only spigot near our campsite was plugged. We adapted and I hate to bitch. As luck would have it - we ran out of power and could not get to our onboard water so partly our fault!! All in all - I love Wilderness Gateway. OH - please put a sign up so Loop B is more easy to find.

Best place to get off grid. Private campsites, lots of room. Really great place to star gaze. Lochsa River super clear and beautiful. One of our favorite places.

Had a great time as usual. Met some really nice people.

Our spot did not have a lot of shade on a very hot day, but being right on the river more than made up for that. Beautiful spot.

No camp host. The only open bathroom was three bathroom buildings away. No soap or paper towels in that bathroom. The huge “bear proof” garbage dumpsters were so full they could not be closed, and it was so hot the metal burned the hands of campers, so that they couldn’t try to force the lids closed. The dump station was out of order. The there was only one functioning faucet that we could find: all the others were shut off and had signs that said, “water not tested. Do not drink.” So we didn’t trust that the one functioning faucet was potable, because it didn’t have any signage (Did the “Do Not drink” sign get pulled off? Or is it indeed potable? Who knew??) The brush was very dense at our camp site, and we only had small walkway to get to the picnic table/fire ring, we couldn’t even see them from our trailer. This is the worst campground we’ve ever stayed at. Couldn’t wait to leave. Never coming back. DO BETTER!!

Didn't stay here, drove in and it was creepy...all of the sites are super small and there's so much brush you can't see anyone else.
@KrystalK872898 · Camped on Jun 24, 2022 at Campsite #D4
It's next to a beautiful river. The campsites are great but make sure you get one that can fit a bigger tent if you have one. There isn't a camp host or fire wood you can buy but the ranger was very helpful. Ranger H gave a wonderful presentation on a flower and its history with the local native population. This Campground is super close to a few hot springs a well. Don't reserve on Loop D unless you have livestock/horses.

Very nice camp sites for RV. Nice and quite campground. Clean and no litter laying around. No barking dogs or late night arrivals to disturb the campers.
@GeoffH2853031 · Camped on Jun 23, 2022 at Campsite #B20
I mean, what? It's a Forest Service Campground. It had a flat place to park. The trash was picked up and the toilets were clean. I don't expect anything more or less.
@MikeC4022067 · Camped on Jun 16, 2022 at Campsite #C24
Ban the generators. With the advances in solar panels generators are no longer necessary. Get the firewood situation under control. You solve the problem of people transporting wood from home by allowing only kiln dried, dimension cut scraps for firewood. There are no beetles in kiln dried wood.
@StanleyR681786 · Camped on Jun 15, 2022 at Campsite #B7
The big problem was no water on site at all. The water coming out of one spigot had a white milky appearance. Seems no one is taking care of this campground.
@CrisP587 · Camped on Sep 3, 2021 at Campsite #B17
The bathrooms at the end of loop B have been out of service since I was last there in July. some of the picnic table benches are rotted out. Other than that a great campground.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
