the camp ground was beautiful. Grass cut and clean. I wish that you could reserve sites along the small lake waterfront instead of being FF. If you drive 4 1/2 hours to get there, you would be very disappointed not to be able to be on the lake. Needs camping / RV sites along the big lake. Grass around the small lake needs cutting . I would make it my go to place if I could reserve along the waterfront on the small lake.

A comfortable stay on the lake, with surprisingly few bugs or 'camp visitors' through the night. The lake was the perfect temp for swimming and despite being a holiday weekend (before July 4th), the place was still fairly open. I didn't go fishing, but it reminds me so much of a place I went all the time as a kid, and I would put money on some good fish living in there, even if just for the kids.

This is a really nice national forest park on a lovely lake. There is a trail around the lake with side trails. Our site was #21 and the only site with sewer as it used to be a park host site. The other sites have water and electric and all are very nice. Most have new concrete picnic tables. We were near the restroom, and it's older and could use a refresh. Park host is very nice and came around to great us.

Wonderful smaller campground. Great sites and great views of the lake. All sites are well maintained and dry. Great hiking trails around the lake and through the woods, all accessible right from the campground.

Site #6 was an excellent spot. We tested our new pop up camper for two nights. Choctaw lake is a beautiful spot with a great Camp Host. If I could change anything it would be additional toilets in the mens restroom and showers that are not on a timer. The water was hot, with plenty of pressure, but you had to hit the button every 30 seconds to keep the water flowing. Its for a good reason to cut down on waste, and I get that. Lets just up the timer to 60 seconds at least lol.

The spots were nice. Gave 3 stars because bath house was worst we have seen. Plumbing was clogged and bath house was filthy. Guardians dropped off unsupervised young teenage tent campers across from us and we were uncomfotable for them and us.Never saw the host the 2 nights we were there. Beautiful lake and hiking was awesome.Planning to go again.

We just stayed a night, nice facilities, quiet. Great path around the lake for walking or riding a bicycle. The tent pads drain well. Will come back!

Purely by chance we ended up at Choctaw Lake. We had intended on staying at the Jeff Busby campground on the Trace parkway, but it was full. When we rolled into the Choctaw campground, it felt like driving into a postcard. Beautiful, quiet location with multiple trails to hike. Gorgeous lake with fish and boating access. Though, Im not sure if motorized boats are allowed. You may want to check that before you show up. We loved this place so much that we ended up staying an additional 3 days. We we able to take our dog on just about all the hikes in the area. Did I mention that it is gorgeous there??

Besides the lack of maintaining the disc golf course and some basic trail maintenance in some spots this place is a gem. Campsite hook ups were functional and the site itself was level with lantern hanger, awesome fire pit and grill and a large picnic table to boot. The lake has a nice trail around it and we saw more than a few fishermen from the shore and in boats. Great time of year as well. Camp host was friendly and had the place looking swell.

We liked camp site #20. The camp host was very nice. The only thing that prevents me from giving a higher ratings is the showers or lack of. There is only one shower each for men and women. They utilize push buttons to turn the water on and off and the water temp is not adjustable. The campground is well kept and most sites are shaded.

It was a great week. My sister and I spend the first week of June at Choctaw Lake to celebrate our parents that have past away. Their home church was Bear Creek in Weir,MS and they have their homecoming the first Sunday in June. We alway enjoy the beauty of Choctaw Lake that my mother and daddy spent many vacation weeks, their favorite place to camp. The beauty has remained throughout the years and the Host is one of the nicest and most helpful of any place we have stayed. Thank you for maintaining such a beautiful place, looking forward to next June!

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
