The campground is close to trails but is very near a major road and offers very limited privacy from site to site. Nice for a short stay of a day or 2 though.

I thought the campground itself was fine. But was annoyed by the forest service people. 2 different old guys checked in on us to make sure we had our site reserved (which we did) but they didnt communicate with each other and one of the guys threatened to give our site away bc we left during the day to go biking. It was kind of a mess and frustrating because we had our site reserved and followed all the rules. They just werent communicating amongst each other

We were at site 6 next to the river so the sound isn't bad from the highway at night. Bathrooms were clean and area was well maintained. There is a berm between the campsite and the river, so you're not looking directly at the river from the campsite, but you can sit up on the berm with a chair. The river is for looking, not really easily accessible for playing in the water at the campsite. The area where the tent is set or picnic table is sunny during midday and afternoon. The hike nearby was great, but there are areas where you need to climb on rocks. It was challenging with two 3 year old that don't do a lot of hiking, but not unattainable. At the beginning of the hike, there is a location where adventurous people could get in the water, where it's fast moving, but reasonably shallow. I would not recommend getting in with kids.

Excellent and well kept small campground. Sites closer to the river would be ideal as the road is closed. We were in the middle and the road noise didn't bother us. Great location and great sites all around.

Small campground located between highway 35 and the East Fork of the Hood River, close to Tamanawas Falls. Lots of tall pine trees for shade, pretty clean, vault toilet didn't smell. The site I stayed at appeared to have very little room to put a tent, not so much a problem for me (solo camper) but could be an issue for a larger group/tent. The biggest problem is the proximity to the highway, because around 5am logging trucks started rolling down the road, engine braking to modulate their speed. This was not occasional but every 5 minutes or so...very annoying. Other than the trucks barely heard any other traffic due to the white noise of the river rushing by. I camped on a weekday so possibly the trucks wouldn't be such an issue on the weekend.

Campsite 14 was good where we were, but the other sites are tight by the road and not a lot of privacy. The pit toilets were in horrible shape when we were there, but it could have been because it was a busy time of year.

This was a nice campground but the sights were closer than I thought and the noise of the river had to compete with the highway. Still it was a pretty location.

Nice little campground not too far away from Hood River. Campground was clean and the vault toilets were not too bad. Great access to the river to cool off on those hot summer days. Only complain is our site was right next got the Highway, lots of log trucks and semi trucks roaring by but we knew that going in. Also zero cell phone service here, which is kind of nice sometimes.

Saturday 8/6/2022: We had prepaid and reserved a camping spot online. Upon arrival, we spoke to a camper in the spot across from our reserved spot and they informed us they were leaving a night early, but had prepaid for their campsite. They told us that we could move into their spot, being that it was in an open area for watching the stars. At the same time, another party was looking for a spot to camp. Being that the campground was full, we offered them our prepaid campsite. The camp host arrived 3 hours afterwards and demanded payment for both spots because he said we weren't allowed to switch sites. On this specific website - it states that there is no additional charge for switching campsites. He yelled at me for 20+ minutes in the presence of my young niece stating that I was breaking the law. Even though both camp sites had been paid for in advance online, he demanded an additional cash payment of $24 a site for both sites. Thankfully the other campers had cash and paid it just so he would leave. Not only did the host yell at us, but he then proceeded to talk to other campers about his frustration with campers - singling us out. But ultimately, we felt bullied. If we wouldn't have had our niece with us and we were losing daylight - we would have left.

Site 15 is awesome. Right by the river (the perfect background noise to fall asleep to) and large enough for several tents. Great hiking in the area with vineyards for an afternoon drink/reward.

Even though no water is available, this is a good campsite. Traffic is a little noisy.

Clean campground, close to freeway so make sure you get a spot near the river to drown out the noise. Water is really just for looking at - too fast moving to swim or fish.

Beautiful area with a nice little hike to Tamanawas Falls nearby. Campsites were nicely spaced out and had plenty of shade from all the trees (they protected us from the rain too). I read somewhere that there was supposed to be a freshwater tap in camp, but we could not find one, so best bring your own water for drinking and cleaning purposes. It is worth mentioning the highway very close to out campsite (site 16). While you could hear cars and see headlights occasionally, it was not all night long and the creek does a pretty good job of adding some white noise to cancel out the sound of the road. Overall a great camping trip, I would go again.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
