Nice camp to use as base for hiking. Quiet. Toilets needed attention. Bring ur own water.

Many sites at Nottingham are secluded, a few are completely distant from neighboring sites, almost private. The river is gorgeous and provides soft white noise. Highly recommend. We will be back.

Nice little campground. Camp sites were spread out. quiet

The campground is gorgeous, and so is the Hood River. (The river is too fast to swim in, FYI!) Our picnic tables were in great shape. Sadly, there was no firewood for sale either of the nights that we were there, and the host told us there wouldn't be until the night after we left. Since the Forest Service urges us to not *bring* firewood into the forest, but to use local wood, this is very disappointing. The bathrooms and garbage were serviced, and the previous campers had cleaned up well.

There wasn't a camp host but the employee from lost lake was so welcoming! Beautiful site.

Great campground with lots of space. So it feels private.

Excellent campground. Spot 20 had a lot of privacy and was on the river. Clean bathrooms.

Wonderful, off the main hwy rustic campground. Quiet with a creek running behind the campsite. Well maintained and clean. Can't wait to return.

The campsite is one of best on site. River edge,with an open view but private. Very quiet and peaceful. Great place if your hiking the east side of Mt Hood.

The campgrounds were well-maintained and clean. Our site is very private and big enough to accommodate large families. The river access was the best part. Falling asleep to the sound of the river was an added bonus. Only downside of the campground was that there is only 1 toilet for 11 campsites. We will definitely be returning to this beautiful campground.

Although I didn't spend very much time in the campground I found it clean, functional and convenient.The sites by the river are especially nice.The entrance does sneak up on you on the highway; if it was signed ahead of the turn-in it wasn't very visible.Minor complaint though, very satisfied with my time there.

Good place to base camp while exploring the area. Clean, basic and maintained.

One of our favorite campgrounds but site 17 had a pretty aggressive Yellowjackets nest under one of the logs right outside our trailer. Luckily, it was mid-week and there was another open site we could move to.
@RalphM82B06C50 · Camped on Jul 23, 2023 at Campsite #8
The campsite was along the river with a nice little open beach area. Very secluded and spacious. Falling asleep to the river sounds. Plenty of hiking opportunities are nearby.

Nottingham is a lovely campground to position yourself for adventures east of the Cascade crest. Hikes accessible from Hwy 35, Rd 44, or Rd 17 are easy to get to. The Hood River, which borders the campground, is beautiful but swift, so don't plan on swimming there. The river noise is great for sleeping! Keep your eyes peeled for harlequin ducks, river otters, rabbits, sapsuckers, night hawks, or (of course) deer. Our group stayed in sites 6, 7, and 8 this visit. 6 and 7 are a great adjacent pair for co-camping; 8 is more removed from its neighbor sites. As mentioned, bring your own drinking and washing water. The pit toilets are perfectly fine. One thing about Nottingham is that the man who tends it is VERY into rules, including ones that aren't documented anywhere else. We've had issues with this before -- he claims that there's a maximum of two tents per campsite, though that's *nowhere* to be found on recreation.gov or the National Forest website, and there are clearly spaces for more tents than that in some sites (especially at campsite 6). If this is accurate, then the website should absolutely tell you before you go! Be prepared to get a lecture on some particular thing that this guy is feeling strongly about when you run into him.

We were unclear about additional car fees. Thought we had it covered with online registration. Steve was quite business-like explaining that each campsite has only one car coverage, additional cars are $10 ea/day. Paid gladly! The campsite was large and secluded , #20, and as mentioned many times, the bathrooms actually smelled good. Though a little colder, June is a great time to camp. Hardly anyone else was there. And with less fire danger, you can use the fire pit. A great 3 days.

Quiet campground, our campground was large, level and right on the river, which was a lovely sound. The camp host was friendly and did a great job emptying the trash and keeping the vault toilet clean. Will definitely return to this campground!

Careful reserving sites! I booked a site and the campground was pretty empty so we moved to a nicer first come first served site on the river. The Lost Lake campground manager showed up in the afternoon and told us we had to move back to our paid site or pay for this new site. We didn’t want to move again so we ended up paying twice. He could have been way nicer about it and since no one was there I’m not sure why it was such a big deal for him. I looked for a camp host before we switched but no one was around. Also nothing on the board about changing sites. Pretty lame but river site was nice.

Nice, spacious campsites - many on the East Fork of the Hood River. Toilets were very clean (and actually smelled good). Camp Manager/Host was attentive and cordial. Ours was a very pleasant experience.

Second year in a row here, we love Nottingham! So many large, private sites right on the river, beautiful, quiet campground with sounds of the rushing water at night. That being said, please don't be the jerk that brings an RV with a loud generator. There are no hookups, this is not that kind of campground and that amount of noise can really ruin the experience for others. We were fortunate to have respectful quiet neighbors, but walked by one situation like this and felt really bad for the campers around them. Not cool! Pit toilets were clean. No water available, you need to pack in your own. Dipped into the 30s at night in August, bring layers! Fire ban is in effect for good reason so plan accordingly. Camp hosts are friendly and were very helpful in directing us to the closest gas station when we needed to pump up a leaking tire stat!

The host was very helpful. He trimmed brush on a trail to the river and helped us change our reservation to a different site. The campground is beautiful with large and private sites, but I shouldn’t say anything more because I prefer to keep this gem a secret.
@RobertS9225788 · Camped on Aug 6, 2022 at Campsite #18
Nottingham is an excellent campground. The campsites are sandy, level, and spacious. Most sites are right on Hood River. The bathrooms were only OK in the cleanliness department, but always stocked with TP. Not too much road noise especially with the gurgling river sounds. The closeness to Portland made it an easy, quick overnight trip! Sites 16, 17, 18, and 19 would be great to group together.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
