Nice spot by the river with a lovely view. BUT - the description of the site on recreation.gov is completely wrong now that half the site has seemingly washed away. There is now only one small camping area with 2 picnic tables, 2 tent pads and 1 fire ring. There really is room for no more than maybe 12 (definitely not 25 as it is currently stated). We had 9 and that was pushing it with 3 tents. It is also not an "ideal site for small children" as there is a cliff going down to the river across the entire site. The website should really be updated (the description actually needs to be re-written completely).

A lovely small group campsite. There are two tables, but one is too low to be usable, except for children. The site was exceptionally clean, as was the outhouse. There is a lovely view, although it was obscured with fog and rain while we were there. The site felt very private. Big Four Picnic Area, with its short walks and information about its history, is only a mile up the highway.

Overall, this campground was wonderful and the views of the Big Four are amazing. Unfortunately, the website has some conflicting information to the reality of the campground and I hope that this review helps to inform more people of the campground before they make a reservation. The campground map was likely created 20 years ago and since then the river water has eroded the bank significantly, cutting off what would have been useful square footage. The website says that there is a 25 person max to the campground. We had 16 adults (no kids) and that was probably the most the space could possibly fit with room to move about during the day. There is no way this campground would sleep 25 people. There are only 2 built camping pads, each pad could fit an 8 person tent. We had 8 smaller tents and were forced to utilize a lot of drive way space to place those tents. We also had 8 cars that needed to be parked on the highway and at the front entrance of the campground. An optimal group would be 8 adults with a couple of kids. No room for any campers or RVs. Also, be aware that there is minimal if any easy river access. This might be different pending different river flows throughout the year. But the river water while we were there (4th of July) was right up against the embankment. The other side of the river had a lovely shallow area. We got crafty and created a tow rope across the river so that people could enjoy the shallows and reduced current on the other side. Not optimal for little kids. If you moderate your group size and account for river crossing this campground is awesome. I hope this helps with making your decision.

Great spot, people in the area will try to take the spot even if you have it reserved. Make sure you close the gate to avoid unwanted visitors. No cell service

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
