The reservation system had just switched to FF, First Come/First Served, when I decided to camp. I wasn't sure how that would work but I trusted in the system. As I drove up to the Visitor Center a large white board signed explained everything. I checked in with Park Staff and was quickly able to reserve my favorite site from my previous on line review. Staff assured me that I had a good site. I was very pleased when the Staff member asked if I had my senior access pass for the Park. I did and received 1/2 off the site cost. Nice surprise.I found the grounds clean, quiet, and well maintained. The Staff must work very hard because there were not a lot of them on duty. I would love to see Grove of the Patriarch again. It's been since the 1980's I believe. I read it was closed indefinitely.

I visited in mid-September, so good campsites were available, first come-first served. The campground was relatively clean and restrooms were acceptable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I drove up to Paradise in the morning, but it was so crowded that the nearest parking was 2 miles away, so I went on several shorter hikes elsewhere. I highly recommend the Silver Falls loop, which begins and ends at Ohanapacosh. It rolls through a beautiful forest, with plenty of creeks, waterfalls, moss and massive boulders. The only negative was the constant annoying tourist helicopter flights overhead throughout the afternoon, I think rich people can do without helicopter rides at Mt. Rainier.

Super clean and great views. Had the whole place to myself.

Great home base for exploring Mt Rainier Sunrise area. Clean comfortable camp, so quiet, so dark at night!

Could not reserve campsite until 3pm. Had to sit in campsite until ranger could assign reservations. We came to see the park, not sit in the campground all afternoon.

The H loop is for introverts lol. Best loop IMO! There is a lovely trail to the creek from the H22 campsite, and I spent an entire afternoon reading on my camp chair with my feet in the water. Absolutely magical!

Nice and quiet campground with helpful park rangers :)

So beautiful and I will return the only thing that is not good is people driving through the campground really fast and almost hitting my kid more than once with multiple people and also other kids and not caring that they are playing

Beautiful camp site with good parking space and plenty of room for tents as well as room for tables and cooking. Close to the restroom area and overlooking a small creek. Only a small walk down to the river, day area, and hiking spots. Great weekend spent here!

We selected Saturday on reservation. My fault for not triple checking. We somehow got Friday. 6 hours after arriving we were unceremoniously kicked out. My kids crying and screaming. Wonderful first experience

The campground itself is beautiful, the river is breathtaking, and the staff we encountered were kind and knowledgeable.

Cannot rate this highly enough. This ks the best spot in the park and the park itself is wonderful.

Clean facilities and grounds. Sites are thoughtfully placed. Staff is very professional. Other campers were unusually quiet and respectful. Would definitely visit again.

First time staying in Mt. Ranier National Park and decided to try this first come first serve first, not knowing what to expect. Well, this campground exceeded our expectations. Not only were the grounds beautiful with old growth trees, but add in the river and the hiking and the NPS Rangers and employees and you got yourself a fantastic experience! Our site was in Loop A, (the FC, FS sites) close to the restrooms and a hop skip jump to the visitor center where you could use their free WiFi if needed since theres no cell reception. The rangers were incredibly helpful, access to the park was so close (but you still need timed entry passes) and although no hookups were provided, it was a fantastic stay for us! We are already excited to come back and try some other hikes!

Really nice campground. New WiFi access at the visitor center is a huge upgrade and really appreciated. I think the first come first serve sites in A loop are the best.

Beautiful, quiet campsite, with very respectful neighbors. We ended up moving to a first come-first serve site since we didn't realize that H loop didn't have bear lockers for food and cooking equipment, we scored an amazing site right on the river. The bathrooms were all clean and well stocked. My daughter loved walking through the visitor center and the maps to nearby hikes with difficulty ratings was really appreciated. The rangers at the campsite registry office were also super helpful and very friendly. There's Wi-Fi at the visitor center, even after it's closed, so it's really easy to log in and purchase a vehicle reservation for the next day for Paradise or Sunrise when they're available at 7pm. The trail to Silver Falls is accessed from the campground and was an easy, but totally worth it hike with some cute little wooden bridges over laughing creek. Definitely keeping this one in the rotation!

What an incredible location. The site (loop H site 007) was perfect, but a little higher off the road loop and not super close to other sites. The forest sound feels so muted but other voices and sound can travel a lot because its so quiet from the leaves and plants. Some groups nearby were laughing and talking loudly enough to be bothered but we went to sleep pretty early so they quieted down eventually. The bathrooms are pretty basic but definitely seemed like there were several for easy access from any part of the campgrounds. I did not have cell service (Comcast Xfinity) at the campsite (fine by me! but good to know). Its about a 45 min drive to the Paradise lot we left camp around 5:15am to beat the crowds and because we hadnt been able to get a timed entry reservation ahead of time, and were able to enter the park and get a parking spot without a problem. Highly recommend doing that if youre able to and if youre planning to visit during the peak season. Would love to come back! :)

Walks around visitor center is like walking in fairy land. There are also hot springs along the trail

Great spot, located in a beautiful forest with great hiking and even a chrystal clear river flowing through the camp.Also very close to Paradise & Sunrise Mount Rainier entrances.There is no signal so be prepared to be out of camp at 7pm if you have to book for a timed entry reservation for the park! (There is a brewery in Packwood which was perfect for us to answer that need!)Toilets were well maintained
@JoeK5232803 · Camped on Aug 21, 2024 at Campsite #A47
The campground was beautiful but we had trouble getting to the restrooms because there was a group with several tents blocking the stairs up to them. We are in our 60's & 70's and walking up the hill over logs, etc in the dark was difficult (especially in the pouring rain. Wifi at the visitor center was nice to have.

Great camping site. My kids enjoy our stay and the nearby trail going to the Silver falls. Neighborhood site is respectful and quite feels like we owned the whole national park. Kudos!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
