The campground is beautiful. However, the campsite we reserved was already occupied by another camper - not their fault because there was no reserved tag with our name on it. We had prepaid. We had to take another campsite, fill out a form and note on it that we had prepaid for another site.The bathrooms were not maintained and some were closed. Maybe this was all due to the fact that we camped in September, the week before it was due to close.

We visited both Mt Rainier National Park and Mt St Helens National Recreation Area while staying at La Wis Wis campground. The campground has plenty of sites to choose from and they are well spaced out so there is plenty of privacy. The one complaint my friend and i had was that there was no potable water available at the campground and we only found out about this from a hand written note on the bulletin board when we arrived. Luckily we had brought some water with us. Otherwise we enjoyed our time at the campground.

Great river side campground!

Beautiful location with a great grove of old trees and very quiet. That said, the campground needs maintenance. Some outhouses were boarded up. The water system was not working. No campground host while we were there. And, while acknowledging it was just after summer, the amount of small detritus (plastic, foil, small garbage) really showed a lack of anyone taking care of the place.

Beautiful campsite with beautiful view of the river. Small. Comfortable with one tent.

A $35 fee should not be charged when a campground is without any source of fresh, potable water. To our surprise, all bathrooms were closed and no water spigots were functional when we arrived for our stay. Recreation.gov had my contact information and should have informed all reservation holders of this issue in advance. Had we been told about the lack of basic services we would have cancelled our stay. I believe Recreation.gov and/or the campground concession should be providing full refunds.

It was impossible to stay here. There was no potable water. We checked the website before we arrived to make sure that everything was OK, zero warning about a lack of water. The webpage clearly stated that water was available. We arrive to find the campsite empty, most of the sites reserved, but almost no one staying there, presumably because no potable water! We requested a refund and only got three dollars. Absolutely avoid this place. Terrible management as well.

Not having potable water was less of an issue than expected, though an explanation for the situation would have helped a lot. The bathroom closest to our campsite was not cleaned during the week we were there, until the day of departure. As usual, the campground setting was beautiful, one of our very favorite places to come.

Our campsite next to the river was excellent. The bathroom was mostly clean. However, there was no drinking water. We knew about this beforehand so it wasnt an inconvenience. I hope I can reserve that same site again next year.

Great stay during the Labor Day Swap Meet in Packwood. I love how spacious and quiet the campground can be, and we enjoyed wandering the river a bit too.

Blue Hole was great for swimming, sites are relatively spacious, tight roads meant most sites were just tents. Mostly quiet neighbors. No potable water for Labor Day Weekend 2024. The vault toilets were absolutely disgusting!

The number of people blatantly violating the fire ban was baffling. Yes, propane fire pits are allowed but so many sites had wood fires. The camp host has zero authority to do anything about it. Be prepared to have to explain to your kids why some people think they don't need to follow the rules. Bathrooms were pit toilets but very clean and stocked with TP. The hosts were nice but their site seemed very unapproachable. Their camper van even had a sticker saying something about second amendment rights which made me think twice before knocking on their door. I don't think they should be the vibe they are giving off. Some of the sites were too small even for a backpacking size tent which was frustrating. We had to have our friends move their tent into our slightly larger but not very level site.

camp grounds were smaller than anticipated but we made the best of it. camp host made us feel welcomed. Not ideal if you like to play loud music as this campground is a little more on the intimate side. amazing views and access to the river!

The campsite was lovely, but there is still no running water available (was here last month and it was not working then either).Also, the nearest two bathrooms were closed. We had to walk very very far to use the restroom.

La Wis Wis campground is close to the southeast entrance to Mt Rainer to go to Paradise and a good place to stay.
@DonT7507581 · Camped on Aug 26, 2024 at Campsite #12
The campground was good. Too many of the best sites next to the river are double sites (2x the cost).We knew that the water system was out, but it would be nice to know for the future when it's expected to be back up again.

Camping at La Wiz Wis is absolutely fantastic especially when arriving Sunday afternoon staying thru Wednesday. The campground was near empty and very quiet and peaceful. We lived it there and plan on coming back again.

Quiet, beautiful location. Ohanapecosh River was nearby and got water from there. Drinking water was off, but we took enough bottled water. Mount Rainier NP was close and other beautiful locations, hot springs, and waterfalls. We camped in the middle of the rainforest. Highly recommended!

It is unfortunate that this campground was closed for an entire season to fix water issues only to be notified this visit there is ZERO water. The water in July smelled like sulfur but we cooked with it. Such a beautiful destination its too bad more $$ arent allocated to keep it running well

I love La Wis Wis! I love the river and I love the trees! There was no water this year which was a challenge. We could not have a campfire even though it was raining. We stayed anyway. My sons tent was infested when it rained by millions of tiny. Bugs. The pit toilets were stinky. Will we be back? Hell yes

Nice location

La Wis Wis has many single and double camp sites with several set apart for first come first served guests. The restrooms are well maintained. While we were there, there was no potable water available, so verify that ahead of time and bring your own if necessary as we did. Tent spots in the sites can be somewhat unlevel, so make do with what you encounter. Camp host was friendly and attentive

Wis Wis is my favorite campground. Close to Packwood and Rainier

all was fine except for lack of running water. We were warned in advance about the water problem.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
