Great stay during the Labor Day Swap Meet in Packwood. I love how spacious and quiet the campground can be, and we enjoyed wandering the river a bit too.

The campsite was lovely, but there is still no running water available (was here last month and it was not working then either).Also, the nearest two bathrooms were closed. We had to walk very very far to use the restroom.

The campground was good. Too many of the best sites next to the river are double sites (2x the cost).We knew that the water system was out, but it would be nice to know for the future when it's expected to be back up again.

It is unfortunate that this campground was closed for an entire season to fix water issues only to be notified this visit there is ZERO water. The water in July smelled like sulfur but we cooked with it. Such a beautiful destination its too bad more $$ arent allocated to keep it running well

I love La Wis Wis! I love the river and I love the trees! There was no water this year which was a challenge. We could not have a campfire even though it was raining. We stayed anyway. My sons tent was infested when it rained by millions of tiny. Bugs. The pit toilets were stinky. Will we be back? Hell yes

Nice location

La Wis Wis has many single and double camp sites with several set apart for first come first served guests. The restrooms are well maintained. While we were there, there was no potable water available, so verify that ahead of time and bring your own if necessary as we did. Tent spots in the sites can be somewhat unlevel, so make do with what you encounter. Camp host was friendly and attentive

First time tent camping, one adult and four kids. I didn't really know what I was getting into. An important thing to know is that there is no running water or electricity in the entire campground. While we were there, there was a burn ban and no campground host. I asked another camper in my loop to show me how to use my propane stove and they were happy to help me. My kids had a great time! Two great things about this campground are the Ohanapecosh River and the mile-long paved main loop of the campground. If you are bringing kids I recommend you bring bikes or scooters, fishing poles, buckets and shovels for playing in the sand along the river. We went mid-week during the busy time of August, and there were fewer than half of the spots filled, it felt peaceful and safe. I talked to two families who relocated to this campground last minute from two other campgrounds which closed, (one was due to smoke, I can't remember the other reason). I wasn't able to send or receive text messages from the park, but I could in Packwood, 6.5 miles away. You can refill water containers at Ohanapecosh campground about five miles in the opposite direction. We were able to get by with less than 8 gallons of water for a 2 night stay.

Beautiful, peaceful campground in the middle of an old growth forest near the river. It was not crowded at all, but this may have been due to the recent shut off of all the water. Make sure you know where you want to hike or fish before you leave and there was not information posted anywhere on the bulletin boards and there were no camp hosts either.

Terrible camping experience. We were right next to the camp hosts. They insisted on running their generators 24/7 which was very annoying and made it difficult to sleep and enjoy the beautiful woods. Who wants to hear that all day and night? When I asked him about it, he became aggressive and angry and threatened to kick me out of the campground. The colorful language he used was shocking and disappointing. The hosts were rude, combative, aggressive, and threatening to our entire group. Not a good experience. Also, their huge pit bulls and the plastic skeleton hanging in the tree in front of their site didn't make things better. The toilets were terrible and disgusting. Such a disappointing weekend!

We have been coming to this area for years, and we have had amazing experiences. This year was completely different and such a bizarre experience. From the beginning, the camp "hosts" were rude and combative. They were aggressive in every interaction where they approached us. We felt unsafe and intimidated with them around because they were so volatile. Their three large dogs and their weird behavior made us feel like we couldn't even approach them. The toilets were the worst they have been in a while. The air would burn our eyes it was so strong. Until these camp "hosts" are gone, we will not be returning.

We got in on a short-notice reservation for La Wis Wis campground for a double spot 18M Loop D right on the river. It was amazing for its location and had lots of room. Now one of our favorite spots! There was an issue with water but we were notified with plenty of time to pack our own. The only downer was the vault toilet not being maintained thru the weekend but we packed extra TP Cell coverage was almost nonexistent for our phones but our older iPad managed to get 1 bar in our tent so it became our hotspot for emergency contacts and text

Beautiful surroundings. Very clean and quiet. Updated porta potty - not stinky. We particularly enjoyed all the old growth trees. Hope you can fix the water problem but we didnt mind bringing our own water.

Worst Campground Experience ever:- No host- No toilet- No water- The river is polluted and not recommended to swim.
@AbbieW7155018 · Camped on Jul 29, 2024 at Campsite #16
Campground map didnt quite match with reality - 16A is actually on the river which was a nice surprise. There was no cell reception in the campground which was great to disconnect. Very quite and peaceful and would stay here again.

The site we booked was so small it could not accommodate our tent. Trash was all over the sites. No running water. I wouldn't recommend staying at this campground.

Beautiful, heavily wooded campground with large campsites. Very close to the Stevens Canyon entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. Wonderful and relaxing.

This campground is absolutely gorgeous. I love the blue hole and the river. We stayed here for 4 days and the portapotties that they have were only cleaned once. Unfortunately, they get extremely rancid because there are bars in the bottom that collect everything piling it all up to the top. Couldnt even breathe in there it was burning my eyes. Would rather have regular ol blue portapotties.

Our group had a very enjoyable 2-night stay at this campground. While the highway signs still say "CLOSED" which was slightly concerning upon arrival, the campground is well maintained. The waterfall, pools, and numerous camp loops offer lots of exploring opportunities for kids.
@CaitlinSE9CAFF · Camped on Jul 14, 2024 at Campsite #29
Our campsite was nice and shady! However, the vault toilets were less than desirable. Someone got sick in the one closest to our site the first night we were there and it remained uncleand for at least 3 days afterwards. It had caution tape around it and smelled awful. It also attracted a lot of different bugs and mosquitoes. I think the bathrooms could have been kept up better.
@JaimeH87FA602D · Camped on Jul 13, 2024 at Campsite #13
It is so beautiful, it looks like an enchanted forest! The site was spacious and easy to access, the campground hosts were friendly, the toilet was clean. There is only one toilet for quite a few campsites in that section, but we all managed fine. The water stations are cemented in and have a drain grate, which was really nice as it kept the water area cleaner than many other parks. Overall a great experience! Easy access to the river was a bonus!

Campers should be aware that some of the sites are small, water is not available at each site but may be a couple of sites away, toilets are pit style, and there is no hot water. However, for a Forest Service campground it's nice. Lots of shade!
@MarcW6918243 · Camped on Jul 7, 2024 at Campsite #11
Nice campground with lots of access to water. Campground was booked but seemed like a lot of people didnt show up or were just pass throughs for the night. Had loop H mostly to ourselves. Site 11 had some recent trees dropped which blocked access to water through back of site, but the Blue Hole trail head is just down the road. No cell service. Starlink had a few obstructions but worked.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
