The campsite was fine. The campground host near the entrance needs some work on how to deal with people. Rude treatment about walking on the roadway and an apparent rule violation. Could have simply stated the problem without treating us like felons. Try to hire employees with people skills.

The host is one of the most unprofessional jerks I have ever met.

Showed up late and the host had placed a hand written reservation card on my camp site - was very easy to book online- however the booking fee was about as much as the nightly site fee so make sure you get your dates correct the first time (I didnt ) had to add a day and ended up costing me another $8 + site fee just to add another night stay.

Very easy to use the site and they keep you informed very well.

The campground hosts were horrible and claimed to "make up their own rules" If you like to be in bed by 9:00 and do not mind dogs wandering without leashes throughout the day this is the spot for you. If not, I suggest you book somewhere else.

My entire experience there was absolutely ruined by the condition of the road into the campground. Do you think this is Ukrakine? Inescusable condituion, I will neve take my motor home in there again. You should be ashamed of yourselves

Weekends are a gathering of assholes. Loud. Inconsiderate. In your space. Midnight generators. No place to hide, since there aren't trees in Loop C. Moved to Loop A for the week and was finally somewhat peaceful, except for the near constant wind. If you love hearing the Spice Girls at 2am from a glitter boat, off leash dog mayhem, other people's kids and Michelob Ultra, this spot is for you!

The campground is not maintained well at all. The garbage containers were all full when we got there & overflowing when we left, never emptied in a week. The bathrooms are filthy, some days barely any toilet paper. We hardly ever saw either of the 2 hosts. The road into the campground is a disgrace. Someone, county or BOR needs to give it some maintenance. Not a great experience.

Camped during the week. It was nice and quiet.

Hellgate is amazing! I feel this campground is almost a hidden gem due to the location and distance. But that is what makes it so much fun! Camping spots are not super close to each other and you are not competing with another camper 10 feet away. Definitely some wide areas with plenty of beach area. Makes you feel like you have your own private piece of heaven. Bathrooms are clean and well kept. Camp host was always smiling and waving, stopped to talk and ask questions if we needed anything, and was all around great to us. Cost was very inexpensive.

Perfect spot for large get together. Camp host Chuck was great. Campsite well maintained by grounds crew. Access to the lake for water fun. Pavilion provided great shade. Will return!

This is a beautiful camp ground. I wish they had more electrical hook ups. There is only electricity at the group sites.

We've camped at Hellgate for over 15 years. The campground has literally gone to hell in the last several years. This year is truly an all-time low. The bathrooms are really disgusting. The camp hosts do put out toilet paper, and may wipe the toilet seat, but that seems to be the extent of their cleaning. The back area of the toilet is never cleaned, the floors are seldom swept, and the cobwebs and bugs aren't swept from the walls. During this visit, we had dogs running loose (as seems to be the norm anymore) and a pit bull attacked another dog. There were at least 6 children present and some were trying to help separate the dogs. Anyone of them could have been injured during that attack. This could have been prevented if the "dogs on leash" rule had been enforced. Additionally, the dogs are pooping anywhere they want in the campground! Yuk! And as is usual in recent years, the fire pits are not cleaned between reservations. I'm really not sure what the camp hosts do anymore! Do they have any duties? Or have all the campground rules just gone out the window and there really are no rules anymore?c

The road inside the campground gate has not been graded this year. There are so many pot holes and wash boards you have to go about 5mph and it beats up your camper and boats. Speed limits are not being followed and side by sides are tearing up and down the roads at all hours of the day and night. In the past this campground has been well cared for and now it’s just rundown

This was the worst experience we have had in 17 years of coming to Hellgate campground.- The mosquitoes were terrible and during the week we were there, at no time did we see anyone come out and spray for them (as we have seen them do it in the past). When we asked the campground host about someone coming out to spray, he stated that the mosquitoes would only be there for a couple more days ??? (that was the first time I have ever had someone use such a lame excuse).- On the weekend, someone out by the point was shooting off fire works (big fireworks) around 11:00 pm. I spoke with the campground host the following morning and he stated it would be to hard to find out who was shooting them off (his trailer was dark and he never even came out in an attempt to locate the offenders).- The dirt road coming into the campground from the main highway was wash boarded bad and had pot holes everywhere. Even when you entered the campground (after the cattleguard, near the first set of bathrooms) that entire section of the roadway was ridiculous. - People were celebrating someone's 30th birthday party (which is understandable) however the last time I looked at the clock was 11:45 pm and the people and music was still ridiculously loud (once again, the campground host never came out of their trailer to ask to group to shut it down).- As described above, the quiet hours were not even attempted to be enforced. I understand that people want to come out on their days off and have a good time, so do I, but the quiet hours are there for a reason and need to be enforced.As, I have never performed the duties as a campground host, I am not sure of their duties, however based off campground host we have visited with in the past, the two that were "working" during the time we were there, were worthless (sorry to say).

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
