The sites were amazing and so close to the lake. My whole family was able have their own space but be close to everyone. Very dog friendly. The shower houses were clean. Best part was how close it was to the lake and the beach

This could have been a great experience, but it was just..weird. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. They smelled so strongly of urine they were almost unusable. The weird part came in the early hours of the morning (pre-sunrise) when someone was shining their flashlights at our tent, then in the windows of our vehicle. Nothing about this experience made two little ladies feel very safe.The campground was nice and the tent areas are great. Seems like it would be great for boaters.

Old Timers beware, they DO NOT bring your tag for your campsite and vehicle to you anymore. We were told 8 minutes before the booth closed we had to go get it. They have always brought the tag to us along with lake information pamphlets. Kinda felt like we were disrespected and that we were trying to get a free night or something as they followed us all the way to lower Peoples check booth. Then when I got to the check booth, I was told that the dog had to be on a leash because it was reported she was running all over the campground. My dog is always on a leash connected to a chest harness. Now the campground attendant had dogs getting out and going all over the campground. This upper peoples location has really changed this year. I was ready to leave after day 1 of our trip. Doubtful I will return.

We have had our family reunion at Lake Wappapello every year for decades. For the past two years at Upper People's Creek. RV Campsites are pretty level and full hookups. Roomy enough for RV and an added tent. Only issue I ever have at the lake is chiggers so I have to stay out of the grass.

Use to camp here a few years back but had gotten away from it. We came back to rethink our memories of camping with our family here. Things were upgraded and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there. To us peoples creek lower level is absolutely the best.

Really nice spot if you have kids. I would like to have had sewer but this site didnt. When we left the dump station was also full so we were told to go dump at the upper campground in any open campsite.

Good, clean and quiet. Lake was a bit high and some boat ramps were closed but still was a good experience. We'll be back.

Peoples Creek lower is a pretty amazing little spot to camp!

Awesome Location!!! all the sites are fairly secluded, Tons of shade cover, Amazing shower house with hot water (free). Site 11 is level and secluded compared to most commercial sites. Water and elec but no sewer at the site, but a clean dump station. There is a beach but it was closed due to flooding at the lake. The area has amazing parks, the lake is massive and beautiful,

Nice, clean park on the creek giving good access to the boat ramp and swim area. Most sited are paved, so they are nice and level. 50Amp is nice to have, too although I didn't need it.

BIG RIGS BE CAUTIOUS40 Fifth Wheel, Long bed pickup: Limited signage going into park. Downhill park entrance was scary but I did not scrape leveler jacks or bumper coming in or going out of the park.Interior roads are narrow. Booked site #7 but was unable to back rig into sight due to 1) narrow road, 2) sign posts on both sides of #7 site entrance and 3) drop offs on all paved surfaces. Park host was able to move me to site 14.The turn near site 11 is very tight for big rigs. Take it slow you can avoid the pavement drop-offlots of scrapes/gouges on the road from others who had dropped off.Fuel station across the street. The nearest name-brand diesel was 25min away. In general, the park/amenities are very nice. The park is quiet and peaceful (during the week).

Very nice campground. I stayed in the lower section (they have an upper section as well). My site was level, and had a picnic table, fire ring, grill and water/electric. Their bathroom/shower building has 8 individual bathrooms (two handicapped), and each bathroom has its own shower. You have easy access to the beach and boat launch/area. The camp host was very friendly and helpful in pointing out the different amenities in the camp.

The campground and facilities are neat, clean and well maintained. There are a variety of things to do within a hundred mile radius. Mingo National Wildlife Refuge was our favorite as well as Big Oak Tree State Park. unfortunately we had lots of rain with only one sunny day. We will definitely return.

Spacious campsite (site 12) towards the back of the campground. Grill/firepitCombo perfect for our overnight. Easy walk to bath house and not too far from shore of lake. Nice sandy areas on the beach for kids to splash around right along shore. Loud neighbors but thats not really a criticism of the campground itself. More of a reminder to us to try and be respectful when camping, especially during quiet hours. Driving distance to welcome center where we saw an animal show. Nice playgrounds. Clean public areas. Not too busy even during the eclipse! I cannot say enough nice things about the rangers who answer the park info lineI called a few times before we visited to ask specific questions and the man I spoke with was always so nice and helpful.
@KenN1774640 · Camped on Apr 4, 2024 at Campsite #50
Nice campsites as long as it is not raining. The grounds get pretty muddy in the rain. Showers are clean and heated with good pressure. There is a multiuse path that provides easy walking even for those with limitations

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
