It is a beautiful park!

Stayed for seven nights, several other campers came and went but everyone was friendly. park ranger or local police would cruise thru at least once a day. park is looking better all the time , grass was cut and bathrooms were clean, park host is a local and stays in a tent on the handicap site closer to the entrance and also during the day is in the check in building at the entrance, most of the campground is still shut down but it looks like they have been clearing trees and working on the other sites. phone reception is okay but not great, not that I really want my phone while I'm camping anyway. not much in the way of stores or anything like that close by but Oxford is not far away. This is not a KOA or a well-known tourist campground it is a secluded and quiet place almost primitive camping with facilities no playground on site if you have kids but you can make your way down a trail by the furthest campsite down to the lake and hang out at your own private beach, the trail is not maintained so its steep you may need to stop and break a few times on your way back up. there is also a well-known mountain bike course within biking distance of the park if you get adventurous, they also have a boat launch and a swimming area right down the road from the park.

The volunteer was friendly and helpful. Only one restroom/ shower was open. There are squatters living at the campground. Lots of ticks.

Power went out and had to move to a different spot. Park is beautiful and I would love to see some investment in the infrastructure.

Broken glass throughout our spot. We reserved four nights but left after one. Nail in one of our tires and after looking found more where we were parked. Requested a refund knowing we would only get a portion but was told the the facility that we stayed at would have to approve. Ive gotten one email and not a word since.

I had the camp all to myself. The camp host was great and taught me some things I didn't know.
@TalmadgeMB857E · Camped on Oct 18, 2023 at Campsite #31
Upon arrival, we were nervous to stay overnight. No other campers in the park save a couple of "car campers". Most of the facility is closed and not maintained. Yellow caution tape on several sites makes it look like a crime scene. Grass needs mowing after a litter pick-up. Never thought the COE would let a park go like this. BUT, the mountain bike trails are super fun.

This is a horrible camp ground. DO NOT STAY HERE, no maintenance, no security, bad camp sites.
@NormanN9495420 · Camped on Aug 21, 2023 at Campsite #28
I would not recommend this place

Where is this park on the COE maintenance schedule? Nice location near Oxford, MS so this gets two stars but park maintenance gets 0 stars. Some campsites are difficult to use with sloping terrain and broken driveway edges. They need animal proof trash cans or dumpsters. We spent time picking up trash in the woods. Bathroom needs a deep clean. Water and electric connections were good so that was a saving grace.
@JamesB7853748 · Camped on Jul 21, 2023 at Campsite #28
Very sad how you have let this campground go. The sites were beautiful but they are not maintained. The bathrooms were filthy and ancient. The trash cans were old fashioned metal cans that the raccoons invaded on a nightly basis so there was trash strewn everywhere. The campground is relatively close to Oxford so I suspect it was once popular. Very disappointing

Most campsites are closed as well as most restrooms. The restrooms that are open are disgusting. Boat ramp closed. Swimming area closed. The mountain bike trails however are amazing. Not that the park has anything to do with their maintenance.

AWFUL! We left two days early because this place is near deserted, out of the way, and just felt like the first scene of a horror film. If they aren't going to repair and maintain the campground, they should just close it. have the campsites are closed off with what looks like crime scene tape. The restrooms are well appointed with spiders, flies and other creapy crawlies. I don't have anything positve to say about this campground.
@DonnieM515BAB6 · Camped on Apr 30, 2023 at Campsite #24
The campground was nice a peaceful. The grounds were kept and the bathrooms were clean.
@PamDECE421B891 · Camped on Apr 28, 2023 at Campsite #20
Over half of the sites were closed. All but one bathhouse was closed and the one that was open was unclean to the point that we didn't feel comfortable using it. I have seen worse but this isn't a place I'd volunteer to come back to.
@BradT3329480 · Camped on Apr 22, 2023 at Campsite #21
Electricity did not work, and there was no handle on the water, so we didn't have access to water either during our reservation.
@JLW3705448 · Camped on Mar 26, 2023 at Campsite #24
Campground hosts were very nice. I think we were one of two campers that night. The grounds were clean, as were the restrooms.
@WillT2897521 · Camped on Feb 17, 2023 at Campsite #30
Absolutely horrendous. I never even stayed at the location that I reserved, in fact one of the two nights I had to sleep in my car Because somebody was in my spot after driving 9 hours to get there. The park is never maintained, the front gate has caution tape like a zipper some kind of crime, the staff never answers even on weekdays

We picked a good spot, view was great! Grounds were clear and we had no issues. A few others camped nearby and were friendly. Will come back!

So we drive through, and it looks like the place has been deserted for many many years. It was creepy! We didn’t stay. This park is not recommended. No one is servicing this park. It seems unsafe especially at night.

We had a great one night on the road to the gulf coast. We arrived late evening and left the following morning early. So I can't say much, are site was nice the park appeared nice and clean. It would be worth going back to check out the area.
@HeatherS702716 · Camped on Oct 14, 2022 at Campsite #20
There were people living under tarps with unleashed pit bulls in the closed camping areas, and our power did not work in the first location we had to rent a new site. Such a shame that the authorities in charge have let it decline to the current state, it probably use to be a great area they are wasting our tax dollars and not maintaining our parks and recreation areas.
@RebeccaP599017 · Camped on Sep 29, 2022 at Campsite #61
The park was absolutely beautiful. Large trees covered all the campsites, and we had lots of shade. We were able to gather enough downed wood for a nice campfire for two nights. We did have difficulty finding a site that was long enough and level enough for our large 43 foot Class A. Since we appeared to be almost the only ones there, we were able to find a site that was open, even though it was not the one we had reserved. I was dismayed at how much of the campground has been shut down. There was never anyone there such as a manager or camp host that we could talk to. I did not venture into the shower house, so I am unable to give a critique there. There were trash cans provided at each site; however, the one at our site was full, so I had to go to the next site to empty our trash. We were there for 3 nights, and I did not see any trash collection being done. Our cat Girlie enjoyed her stay, as there were no strangers or dogs to disturb her tree-climbing and critter hunting.

This could Be a great campground if there were some maintenance and a lot of TLC. The restrooms were in non working condition because of the filth. It has so much pontential.
@DotH2866135 · Camped on Aug 23, 2022 at Campsite #23
Park is in very poor shape, should not even be open. Only small percentage of sites open, and still had trouble finding electric that worked. Few long term residents with garbage all over. Not recommended, and not the usual quality of other parks.

Thanks to all our Supporting Members

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
