The campsite had not been raked and I backed over a tent peg. Fortunately I didnt puncture my camper tire. I didnt see any staff the days I was there. Other civil engineer sites have tools available to help clean up , rakes , shovels and such.

Last review I wrote was a mistake. I was thinking of another campground. Pokegama Dam campground was very small but packed a big punch! Easy access from highway 2 and very nice sites along the Mississippi River. There was a very nice trail on the other side of the dam that was also nice and easy for an evening walk. Bathrooms were clean and park overall well kept!

Clean, well kept, well behaved

Decently clean and accessible. The regularly running railroad is so close if you end up in a site right next to it you will literally feel the ground shake, much less sleep through the midnight train and its whistle. Do not attempt to camp without earplugs.

Very clean, well kept grounds. I camped in the #12 spot for one night and moved to the primitive site #20. The only flat spot on #12 was the parking area, NOT good for a tent and sleeping on the ground. I put the tent near the river only to have the night security light shine right into the tent. In spot #20, the only flat spot was part on the campsite, part on the other site (#21), and part off the boundary. The sites were clean except for the dog crap I had to clean up from other people's dogs (NOT the fault of the facility). The facility had very nice, clean bathrooms and showers. Main complaint was the noise from the trains and the road, the noise was VERY LOUD! I stayed at the facility d/t work. I worked nights and did not get much rest or sleep because of the noise. It would be nice if a wall/noise barrier was constructed. Otherwise, for a day trip, very nice grounds, beautiful area.

Beautiful campground, very clean and spacious bathrooms, and nice showers. I really liked the private disability combined bathroom and shower room that you can lock from the inside while showering.The one problem was the tent sites, of which there are only 2. One is behind the other, and they are very close together so there is hardly any privacy. Especially if you are in the site right by the parking lot - you are open to the whole parking lot and driveway where everyone exits and enters :( there should probably be just the one tent site at the back there.

First time in an Army core park. Very impressed. Clean, modern hook-ups and an excellent nightly rate. I had to trim some limbs in my site so I would not hit them as they were low hanging. But the trees on the main drive was clear. Right along a river at a dam. The ONLY negative was the active train track. There was no schedule of the trains, but when they came by you heard them and could actually feel your rig vibrate. Besides that, AWESOME!I will look at stay at more Army Corp campgrounds in the future.

Only stayed one night passing through. Site 20 near the dam was adequate other than the train that went by at 4am blasting their whistle for a loooong time. Can imagine it woke up the whole campground. Showers were clean. Easy access off the highway. Good fishing.

Very quiet and peaceful. Was small but had a playground for our kids and some hiking so we were very happy. Only complaint was it was by the highway so was a little noisy at times but otherwise great experience!

Pokegama is a very nice spot to camp for a visit. At times it's noisy enough to inhibit conversation outside, but the sites are nice and the shade trees are awesome. Access to the river is very easy, and it's a short (2.5mi) ride across the dam to Tioga MTB park. Bathrooms were clean, and everything worked. We'll stay there again.

Our tent campsite was next to the train tracks and the highway. Also we were behind another campsite and we felt bad walking through the other site to ours. It was mostly full sun too. We did walk over to the big beautiful shelter to make our meals.

Really love these ACoE camgrounds. All sites are spacious. This one is super quiet, allows campfires & has many sites along the Mississippi River.

The campground water is horribly contaminated with iron. It smells awful and tastes like blood.

This is a great park that is well-maintained. Sites are level and have room for our motorhome and tow vehicle. The bathroom/shower at the front of the park is clean. The bathroom in the center of the park has no running water and the typical smell that goes with this style of outhouse.

We were in Pokegama Campground in our Motorhome during the Judy Garland Festival 2024. The rangers erected a large screen and projected the Wizard of Oz movie for camp goers and the general public. That was exceptional.but it got better.they personally handed out free boxes of popcorn to the movie goers. Way beyond the call of duty and sooo impressive. A wonderful campground right on the Mississippi with great amenities and amazing employees.

There was no one around who was any authority to assist campers.There were empty electric spots that could not be reserved for a single night, even though no one was due in until the next afternoon.

The neighbors kept making my dogs bark with there dogs. And then they complained about mine. There dogs caused mine to bark. My dogs are puppies and will bark.

The campground is wonderful and the people in the office are, too. We had a MAN in the womens bathroom three times using toilets and the shower. That was awful! The way things are these days I dont know what you can do about it.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
