Amazing campground.....very clean and the site spaces are very private. My out of town folks loved the location and able to use all of the surrounding park amenities. Thanks so much for doing a great job.

Having to show up to find a site is ridiculous! Can't call! Can't get any info on this site!I will not be back in the future. At this point, what is the purpose of RECREATION. gov?

This was our first time camping at this campground. We have camped at a lot of National Park Campgrounds and none of them are any better.

My favorite place to camp in Michigan.

The team at Platte River is outstanding. The campsite, shower and bathroom were spotless. On a previous stay the 30 amp socket was surging. I mentioned it to a passing campground host and the post was repaired within an hour.

This was my first time camping at Platte River and the campsite, campgrounds and experience was excellent. We were tent camping in the non-electrical area (loop 4) and so enjoyed the size of the campsite, the raised tent beds, the fire pit with the grate, and the forest like setting. The bathrooms, shower and dishwash room were clean and in great condition. The campground had many visitors but it was very quiet. The campground has good hiking trails to Lake Michigan and the Platte River and there is easy access by car. We biked the Heritage Trail from Empire to Glen Arbor and loved it. Absolutely wonderful experience. Thanks to all the staff for making Platte River such a wonderful place.

Very nice campground. The sites are not close together and set up nicely. The bath house is clean and showers are hot.Numerous small towns to visit, wine tasting in the area as well as the beautiful Sleeping Bear Dunes. There is something for everyone.

This was a beautiful and peaceful campground. So nice to fall asleep to the sounds of owls.

The campground was clean and well kept. Our site (123) was level and easy to get in and out of. We had a bit of extra pedestrian traffic since the path to the trail was next to our site. The closest restroom/shower was under renovation so we had to walk a ways to get to the shower but the shower was clean and hot. We had a good hike to the lakefront and back.

What a beautiful gem! Weve been here several times and the campground never ceases to delight. It is so very well maintained. I almost want to leave a negative review so it might be easier to get a reservation (just kidding). Platte River Campground is my number one favorite.And outside the campground there are so many great places to explore, Northport, Glen Arbor, Point Bettie, Leland, and the Dunes of course.

Overall it is absolutely beautiful campground! Lots of trees and shade. Nice level site for a tent. My one complaint is that there were only 2 shower stalls and one was out of order in my section of the campground.

I love this campground, especially in the fall. I try to come every year.

One of the best National Park campgrounds. Looks very new with all paved sites and large picnic table firepit areas. Sites are wooded with lots of separation between sites. Large clean bathrooms. A nice trail around the perimeter of campground which also leads to Lake Michigan in just 0.8 mile.

a great time and experience. The Rec.gov app stinks

It is a very large complex. The walk-up sites are very nice, and relatively private, though they can require carrying camping equipment around 1/4 mile (400 meters). I enjoyed that aspect, but for certain groups or families it may be a logistical hurdle. There are sites elsewhere in the Platte River area where one can park a car directly at the site.The bathroom, shower, and camp sink facility building for the walk-up sites was very clean and well-maintained, though there seems to be just one shower for the roughly 25-30 walk-up sites.

Well run camp with beautiful trails including Lake Michigan shoreline. Sites at very spacious and laid out to allow privacy and natural area. Glen arbor and Empire towns have knotty pine taverns with wonderful food. Be sure to go dune climbing - the views are incredible.

Easy walk to the beach. Nice canoe or kayak ride down the Platte River. Be aware that some parts of the park are not open every day into the fall.

We try to visit Platte River Campground for two weeks every Fall, but making reservations is a real hassle, and getting worse every year! Once we arrive everything is Good. This year we were on Lot 203 (a very nice lot) right next to the Hosts. Ron and Kim Carlisle are second generation Hosts and are fantastic people and neighbors.
@NancyA9740553 · Camped on Sep 26, 2024 at Campsite #438
From the minute we checked in, everyone was very pleasant to talk to. The Park Ranger was very helpful, friendly and was able to answer any questions we had. We stayed in loop 4 and our site was exactly as pictured when making the reservation online. We had an added bonus with a short, easy trail to walk to Michigan Lake. The showers were clean and spacious, restrooms were clean and always stocked. 1st time visiting and already planning our next trip.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
