I love Dumont Campground! Large spaces, very low-key. Great hiking and SUPing/kayak access on the little lake.

There was no water and no mention of this on the website or anything. We have no idea how long this will remain in effect, but enjoy camping here frequently. How can we determine if there will be water next time we go?

This was a close to home camping trip and an awesome way to explore the Continental Divide trail (a trailhead is in the campground) close to Steamboat! Beautiful with both moose and beaver in the lake and deer in the woods and on the trail. I highly recommend this campground.

Great campground! Ample spaces with real privacy, basic but clean bathrooms. Access to trails (CDT) and the little lake easy and convenient! Quiet, despite its proximity to the pass. I'll definitely stay again!

Love this area and campground was quite and well kept. Lake was within walking distance.

No campground host, so bathrooms were not always stocked with toilet paper. Toilets needed to be cleaned out. The pumps were not available for water. A lot of the sites were not occupied even though they had tags and were not available on-line either.

Spot 13 *should not* be a trailer spot for anything larger than a combined vehicle+trailer length of about 25 ft, regardless of what the reservation system says/allows.

Quiet, great trails, beautiful lake, fresh clean stocked restrooms.

This campground is a wilderness wonderland. Lush with flowers, grass, forestry and views of meadows. Short walk to the Dumas Lake. Cleans bathrooms, secluded camp spots. Dirt road could use some maintaining of the deep holes making a very slow drive with an RV. Will return for a longer stay...high elevation, cool weather was nice too.

The campground is beautiful and well-maintained. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the wells were not working when we went.

Dumont lake is incredible. Visited there once on a day trip and now returned for a 4-night camping trip. Would highly recommend this site to anyone looking for a quiet get away with family, friends, or even solo! The water spiggots were not were working and we were notified in advance (way to go Recreation.gov) so we came with plenty of water. Tremendous amount of muskitos, but that can't be changed by the host! :) Please visit here but don't tell too many people!

Campground was very dusty and mosquito infested, so it took away from the enjoyment of its use. Also, there is no water available. however the wild flowers were very good and there is convenient access to a nice hiking trail and to Dumont Lake.

This campsite is amazing in so many ways. The sites are large and fairly private. The wildflowers were everywhere and it was quiet, which is exactly what we wanted. Do make sure to have extra toilet paper and your own firewood on hand, as there is no host on site as far was we could tell. The mosquitoes were atrocious our first day and night there, so bring bug spray. This campsite is also close to 10,000 feet in elevation, so it gets nice and cold at night. Steamboat is only 30 minute drive away. We will definitely be back!

There were no camp hosts and the bathrooms ran out of toilet paper 3 days and they did not get cleaned the 6 days we were there. Also, the mosquitoes were terrible!! The wild flowers were amazing, there were tons of different varieties.

Beautiful location but lots of mosquitoes at the end of June. Would have rated 4 stars due to the condition of the roads and sites. They could use some grading and leveling. I knocked the rating down to 3 stars because of issues. We arrived on opening day to day to discover there was no water. The one hand pump had not been working for 4 years and the other broke the previous year. There was no warning about this. Nearest water was Steamboat Springs (~24 miles). We received an alert about the water 3 days after we arrived. Second issue was the outhouses. Although they did check toilet paper supplies, the outhouses were not cleaned during our 4-night stay. Needless to say they were rather dirty by the time we left.

The course was clean and quiet

Quiet campground. Lake within a short walk was beautiful. Saw an osprey catch a fish one morning. Some people fishing around the lake, some people mountain biking.

Great campground. Quiet and clean. Outhouses were clean.

Spacious sites is perhaps the high point. Good separation from your neighbors. Reasonable cell service. Location is great - hike, bike, fish, etc. Not so good: No sign at the entrance to tell would-be campers that the campground is full. Consequently there were folks driving through at all hours looking for a campsite when none were available. A "FULL" sign would have helped. Hand pumped water. Old style outhouses.

My favorite campground I have ever stayed at. We got unlucky with the weather and camped in the pouring rain, but it was a magical experience none the less. We saw two moose at the campground, with other campers reporting another moose nearby. The lake was so beautiful, I would love to see this campground during all four seasons!
@VickiR716 · Camped on Aug 28, 2021 at Campsite #4
I paid $20 to reserve site #4 before our trip out west and when we got there our site was taken and there was no camp host at the campground to help. We reserved because we weren't sure what time we would get there. It was also Sat night so we thought it would be busy and we wanted to make sure we had a place to camp. Since it was after 4:30 in the afternoon the phone number to call for help didn't have anyone working to help us. So I'm out $20 and we still had to find another campsite to stay in for the night. Totally disappointed in this service.

Beautiful site, incredible wildflowers when we were there (late July), but the site is small and no apparent host available. On the other hand, all the sites are a bit removed from each other and the beauty of an alpine meadow campsite full of wildflowers is almost overwhelming.
@CharlieE476 · Camped on Jul 18, 2021 at Campsite #18
From my campsite I had a great view across the valley, the area was full of wild flowers in bloom and my neighbors were quiet and far from my site. But you could hear the road traffic on US 40 and I had no shade.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
