CAUTION!!!!! we could not reach the location of the reservoir due to the 12 mile gravel narrow road that it takes to get to it! The website should STRONGLY caution people in regular vehicles and RVs that the road is NOT SUITABLE for driving unless you are in an ATV or 4WD vehicle. We turned around after it took almost 20 minutes to go a mile and headed to Palisade Park instead. We won't be trying again.

A great campground with a beautiful view. Serves as a good home base for deer and elk hunting, as well as fishing.

very nice campground, mosquitoes were a bit of a problem at dusk and dawn

The reservoir was beautiful and peaceful. Gps took us from Manti on a very tight rocky route over the mountain, over Sky Line Drive and then down to the reservoir. I do not recommend this route, especially pulling a trailer. There are sheer drop offs and dangerous curves. The best way is the way we took out towards Ferron. Still a gravel road but no danger of death. It added an hour to our drive back to SLC but it was worth it.

Love the location by the lake, has good views. The road is good all the way to the location from both mayfield and from ferron.

Nice campground, but fellow campers were noisy late into the night.

The location of this campground is remote and the land is shared access. That means livestock are allowed to graze. That being said, the livestock (which are sheep) are all over and inside the campground. They drop their poop all over the place and it smells awful and attracts flies. Complaining to the forrest service is worthless. They did nothing. The forrest service need to erect some fencing around the camp to keep the sheep out. This is the fourth year in a row. I am never going back.

We love Ferron! Our family has been camping there for years and the reservoir was actually more full this year. Was a lot of fun.

Although fire restrictions curtailed campfire gatherings our family still had a great time. A lot of time for family togetherness and fishing was good - our ten year old grandson caught an 18" trout which he cleaned to share with his father. Some fun hikes including a group hike to Petty Peak for a fantastic view of the area were great.

I loved our camping trip to this gem of a reservoir and campground! Fishing was terrific, campsites are cozy and the hosts are great! The hosts are new to this campground this summer and they were very kind and friendly. All the facilities were very clean! NOTE WHEN COMING FROM GUNNISON/MAYFIELD DIRECTION: Google Maps, as of this writing, will take you onto Forest Rd 0022 and then to Forrest Rd 0023 which, for autos, is a dead end since you would need an ATV to use Forest ATV 413 to continue the route. Instead, where Forest Rd 0023 splits off of Forest Rd 0022, take the left fork to stay on Forest Rd 0022. You will pass through Twin Lakes and come to 12 Mile Flat where a sign is posted, indicating Ferron Reservoir is to the left. Once you take that left, you will continue down into Ferron Reservoir.

The drive in was rocky and long but once you get there the view is amazing! Would definitely camp here again!

love the views, my family loved how close we were to the water. I did not give excellent due to the 1 hour dirt road we had to drive to get to our destination.

The campground was very nice and private for a campground with great views all around. I didn't like being in open range with cattle and sheep everywhere, with their dung and smell. And the poor sad reservoir was so low this year, but beautiful!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
