Campsite was amazing. 19 is a huge site with plenty of room to spread out. Just one thing, a steady flow of people kept cutting right through our site to get to the river and back to their site and would walk within 2 feet of our picnic table while we were eating. It was pretty rude and disrespectful. I finally blocked the path and made them go around.

I've visited King's Canyon for over 40 years and visits. Always like the convenience of Sentinel campground. Close to Visitor Center, Market & Showers. On the river and one side has Sheep Creek which is lovely in the springtime.Plenty of options for sites, with or without trees, some more private than others. I like #23 myself.Plenty of trailheads nearby and others a short drive. Take motor trail on other side of river if you have appropriate vehicle. I prefer May but have been there in the fall also. Be prepared for small face flies and/or mosquitos seasonally. And it can be very very hot down there too. It was 93+ in early Sept.

The campsite is crowded and too close to each other. But overall a Beautiful campsite if you get a spot near the river. Camp hosts are very nice. I would come back again.

We have been camping at Sentinel for 40 years and always enjoy the beauty of Sequoia and Kings Canyon. It never gets old!!

Ive stayed here twice, and I have to say that although it is a lovely location filled with tons of trees, it is a very noisy campsite. Both times Ive stayed (2 years apart), I encountered large groups of people, yelling, playing drinking games and being very unneighborly in the campground until many hours past quiet time. It was frustrating since we were staying this time for one night before doing a 40 mile hike into the backcountry. Hoping to get a good night sleep before our trek proved to be impossible. I do appreciate everyone who works for the park to keep these sites clean and useable. But this site had very few open restrooms. Im sure that will change as the other campsites like sheep creek reopen. Overall it was nice to be able to camp so close to the roads end trailhead - just dont expect it to be quiet :-/

Sentinel is a very beautiful campsite

I stayed here the night before a backpacking trip. Maybe this is a typical car camping experience, but it was very noisy. Some guests had loud parties well past 10pm, and there were extremely frequent car alarms (presumably due to idiots leaving food in their cars) well past midnight. In the daytime the place looks like a dumpy trailer park. On a good note, the sites were very spacious and easy to pitch a tent on.

The Rangers at the Sentinel campground were extremely rude. I made contact with one younger female ranger and ahe was pleasant. The older female ranger working inside the Ranger/visitor office was extremely rude. They all seemed like they we re e not happy to be there and tired of cmpers..

Large open nice sites. Little privacy though. The creek is great for taking a refreshing dip.
@Stephanie52540 · Camped on Aug 23, 2024 at Campsite #30
Great large location with flat areas to easily pitch tents. Only downside is that it's the campsite closest to the bathrooms and where people dump the trash/recycling (no complaints from my group, but some others may want to be slightly further away). Loved it at #30!

Campsites are well-spaced. Rangers make frequent passes thru campground. They warned about frequent bears and how to handle them. No camp-host (but you can buy firewood at market). Market/snack-bar/laundry/showers/pay-phone are a 5 minute walk. No cell-phone or wifi in the valley (unless you are a guest at the lodge)Ranger-visitor-center next to campground. A few miles drive to Grizzly-Falls or Roaring Falls; a few more miles to Boyden Cave; Zumwalt Meadows; Roads End. Note: still a lot of mosquitos (recommend a mosquito head net and repellent spray). Tuesday (Aug 20) was fully-populated. Wednesday and Thursday were fully reserved but many unused sites :(

Great campground. Showers are available next to the Cedar Grove Market in the laundry building, but must buy token for about $1.50 per 5 minutes. Lots of places to play in the river but stick to the calm sections.

We have been going to Sentinel for over 40 years!! Although it is more crowded with new "dumb" campers trying to learn it is the most peaceful place in the world!!! We scored # 15 one of the best sites by the river. Everyone needs to take care of the campdrounds!!!! Save it for our Grandkids but tell them to leave the "E" bikes at home!! Take a hike!! 30 years ago i hiked with my young nephew up the mountain at roads end. We left 90 degree heat and had lunch in the snow!1 One of the best days of my life!!

Very nice campground under the trees with a meadow along the upper top. Sunrise in the morning was beautiful through the trees. Sites were pretty level for a camper van and are very wide. You won't feel like you're camping on top of someone else. Small visitor center in the campsite, and a store across the river.

Great campground. Although you do have to watch out for the bears
@AndyS5016117 · Camped on Aug 10, 2024 at Campsite #24
I think this is the only campground open this season at Kings Canyon. The location is great, campsite has plenty of room for tents, but parking space is tight. Bears are visiting every night, hide anything smelly in a bear box. Bathrooms feel like they need some renovation, but there is running water in any case, which is great. The river is very close by, we bathed there after hikes. Some neighbors we very loud and stayed well beyond 10pm, hosts are not enforcing quiet hours. There is a Cedar Grove Lodge nearby with a shop and a sandwich place, but I won't recommend eating there, burger was terrible and salads are pre-packed looks like few days in advance.

Beautiful campsite, right next to the river. We had a bear visit, put all food items in bear locker
@JessicaG555444 · Camped on Jul 30, 2024 at Campsite #11
Loved this campground. It isn't rocky, the food storage box is always covered with shade and there is lots of space to set your tents. It's also really close to the bathroom and I loved that it isn't too close to the other campsites. It's also pretty close to the river. Will definitely be coming back to this site!

Thanks to all our Supporting Members

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
