Awesome site and awesome campground. Would definitely recommend. More space and arguably more to explore here than Jumbo Rocks Campground. This particular site has a lot of space and backs right up to some places to explore. Only downfall is that its close to the entrance so you do get some traffic with latecomers/early risers

Really cool campground. Lots of rocks for the kids to climb around on. Amazing views of the night sky. Campground is between both park entrances so easy drive to get inside in the park or go to a visitor center. Only downside is no running water for filling water bottles, cooking, or showering. Which is pretty minor.

We loved site 12. Perfect for our kids. They climbed on the rocks directly at the site for hours.

Beautiful park and very convenient camp ground. NPS rangers are rare out there these days so keep that in mind when considering activities and sufficient preparation to be out in this wilderness. Hike safe and enjoy!

Great campground with lots of privacy. The short but very informative nature trail nearby is a must see. Lots of interesting rock formations and nature to explore in the area.

Perfect private spot.

Great campground. Does not have water, but does have pit bathrooms. Lots of room. Nice that it is a little distant from other campsites.

Wonderful camping experience.

Excellent low key campground. Not too much noise in the campground and not much of a ranger presence. Good climbing throughout Indian Cove right in some of the campsites; don't let campers deter you from doing climbs; everything is game.For pit toilets, the bathrooms aren't bad - pretty clean and well stocked with TP.

This was my familys first time camping at Joshua Tree Indian Cove Campground and it was perfect! At this specific campground almost every campsite is located next to the national parks incredible boulders and has a unique view. The campsites come with a picnic table, fire pit, and charcoal grill. There is one pit toilet for everyone 5 or so campsites. So I do recommend bringing a portable toilet if you are a frequent goer. Check in time was at 12 PM. Upon arrival the campsites were completely vacated and open to set up our gear. I advise to bring comfortable clothing. We went during the winter time and although the temp during the day was no more than 55, it felt pretty hot with the sun. Also there is pretty much no shade so I recommend bringing an EZ up. Another tip is there is no water. For me, my husband, and dog we used an entire 7 gallon water jug within 24 hours. Also bring LOTS of firewood as it is freezing at night and the firewood burns fast. It reached about 38 degrees at night and was freezing cold. Our Heater Buddy barely did the job warming up the tent. Albeit our tent is pretty spacious so two would have been better. Okay now about the campground There are so many awesome trails to hike and walk. Take advantage of going on a trail to get some of the best views of the park. Pretty much anywhere you go youll be led to boulders you could climb. Be careful and take lots of cool pictures. The sunrise, sunset, and night sky are unreal! Soak it up and be in the moment. Take in what you are seeing with your own eyes. Stop by the visitor center and pick up a post card, sticker, or magnet to commemorate your trip! If you forget something dont worry there is a liquor store at the entrance of the campground/park. We forgot charcoal and this pace came in clutch.

Amazing site for stargazing. More private and secluded than any other campgrounds Ive been to in many National Parks. Service is not stable around the campground.

Great spot to camp especially if you want to rock climb

Location is good, Campground is clean (including toilets). Camp sites are pretty close to each other (2 groups in one campsite - they share a parking, but each have it's own table and fireplace spot).at the ranger station you can fill up your water bottles and RV water tank.

This is a beautiful campground located in a cathedral like setting. The campsites are located far enough from each other to allow you the feeling of not feeling crowded and each spot is unique. The toilets were clean and well stocked with toilet paper. Roads are well maintained so you can drive most vehicles. This is a place I would visit again.

We mostly just enjoyed the view of rocks and sky. And clouds. The people at the campground were lovely. I enjoyed the lack of cell service unless you walked to one end of the campground. Nice campsites.

I visit a couple times a year. Campsite 31 is a pretty good site, but we were awakened by climbers in the parking lot across the street. Talking and laughing very loudly. Generators are annoying as well. But otherwise this is a great place.

This was my second time camping at Indian Cove in the last six months, and I continue to enjoy this campground for its secluded feelaway from everything else. Overall, it was clean, though we did pick up some trash ourselves.One thing to keep in mind is that the campsites are very close together, so your experience may depend on your neighbors. My partner and I had quiet neighbors during the day, but around 9 PM, a group arrived next to us and was quite loud. Additionally, expect to see a lot of vans and RVs. I wish there were a campground specifically for those who prefer tent camping and a more immersive nature experience.Despite these minor drawbacks, I still appreciate Indian Cove and would return!

Despite the lack of water, this is a nice, intermingled with the landscape campground. I was the only person my side of the road (site 90).
@ShannonA244463 · Camped on Feb 24, 2025 at Campsite #6
We misunderstood that we could fill up with water at the ranger station..nope only bottles. We had to head to headquarters and drive back 10 miles. The water fill was in a really weird spot due to someone parking right where we needed to be to fill. Filling an RV can last 20 ish minutes (depending on tank size) and we were sticking right out in everyones way. Other than that, beautiful place. We hiked to 49 palms oasis. Beautiful, but busy. We drove all through the park and were disappointed that we couldnt drive the Cholla Garden. But we could see it from the road! If youre reading this, call your representatives and ask them restore all funding to our National Parks! We love our parks!

Had a great time, made sure to pick up any extra trash the last campers left behind :)

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
