The park rangers do an amazing job of keeping these sites clean - there is a lot of wind in afternoon/evening so dont leave trash or light things out on the picnic tables. Portapotties were nice - stocked with TP and cleaned every day. Remember to fill up your 5 gallons jugs before/upon entering park, and enjoy !

We have stayed at Sheep Pass for 14 years and think its the BEST! The camp sites are very nice and bathrooms are super clean. It is nicely situated within in the park for whatever you want to do.

Weve stayed at Sheeps Pass many times before and love the spot. However, we had neighbors at G1 who were blasting music much of the day and into the late nightwell past quiet hours. This was a full on sound system booming. The second night I was so sick of the noise I drove for 20 minutes looking for a ranger (there is no cell service). I couldnt go all the way to the main gate because I was traveling with kids and didnt want to be gone too long, and I didnt feel comfortable asking them to quiet down because it seemed like alcohol and who knows what else were involved at this personal Coachella. This was such a disappointment for a family who loves nature and getting away from it all. That said, the site was beautiful and we did a few new hikes this time that we were happy to have explored. The restrooms were rustic but clean. So many blooming flowers and birds/wildlife out and about this time of year!

Sheep Pass Group #6 has a great location right next to a boulder formation that you can climb on, which also helps block wind. It is distant from the other campgrounds which makes it a bit more private. Pit toilet was clean and located not too far. Small trail head right across the road. Overall, very happy with the #6 group spot in Sheep Pass campground.

First night was great! We ended up actually having the entire place to ourselves, all the other sites were empty. Second night, we had people parking in our (already full) designated parking, and some of the neighboring campers were walking directly through our campsite on multiple occasions, their child actually slid right into our tent. It was fairly odd and hoping it was just a rare thing, otherwise great campsite. We have stayed here multiple times and never had this happen before.

Great campsite, lots of parking close to boulders and hiking trail to Ryan Mountain

Campsite 1 was tucked against an amazing outcropping of rocks and our kids had a blast climbing for 2 days. Not much protection from wind. Close to the bathrooms. We had 5 cars and 25 people and everyone agreed it was the best campsite. Close to all the best hikes in Joshua tree.

Great site. Scenic and peacfeful. Lots of of tent sites and parking. Big fire pit. Big grill. Cooking table and 3 picnic tables. At the edge of great rock formations. Near bathrooms but not an issue.

We camp at Sheep Pass every year and love it. The kids enjoy scrambling around the rocks directly behind our campsite and it's also a short drive from trailheads and rock climbing options. The restrooms are well maintained, which is a plus.

This last weekend for sheep pass campsites 1 & 2 was a disaster. I have been a heading a group of family, friend, and work mates to joshua tree for 30 years. We have, in the past, enjoyed our stay immensely. This year, as you may be aware, the park was overrun by the social media hype of the meteor shower. If people had found parking lots or turn offs from the road, that would have left us unaffected. Instead they came in droves into sheep pass (past the reservations required sign) and into the parking lots of our campsites and, in cases, confronted us and refused to leave. People (strangers) were just walking through and amidst out tents. I had little grandkids and the children of friends i had to worry about. I don't know these people IN THE CAMPSITES I PAID $100 FOR and their driving was often reckless and and too fast. There was no time to enjoy the star gazing we came to do and the onslaught of headlights alone ruined any chance we had. I don't know, so please advise who to formally lodge a complaint to, but i want to pursue a full refund for this. I spent $100 (two campsites, 1 & 2) and drove 3 hours one way for this catastrophe.

The park ranger was very nice and helpful. Camping at Sheep Pass was a wonderful experience. The website was very detailed on what to expect, so we prepared for the necessities. The area was clean and very minimal human impact was seen. There are signs of what to look for for wildlife. I recommend this for those who are looking to disconnect with electronics and reconnect with nature.

Favorite Group Campsite! Has a lot of flat areas to set up camp. Lots of room for tent setups, some separated areas for more privacy. The bathrooms are well kept and clean.

Sheep Pass is a great camping spot! We have been camping in Joshua Tree for 14 years and 12 of them have been at Sheep Pass. It’s beautiful, camp sites are nicely spaced and the bathrooms are wonderful! (especially for ones that don’t flush) The site is very centrally located within the park to make it easier to get to various other places. Love it!

I bookmarked this spot for future group camping. 😃

Clean site including two outhouses. Park service stopped by to check without interrupting. Rain storm before and there were few flat areas for tent that were out of the drainage. Great star gazing. Loud music nearby woke us up Saturday night, but didn’t last long. Overall a really great experience.

Campground was left clean and open with no signs of trash left anywhere. One of the first things we did was hike up to Ryan Mt. in which the trailhead is inside to the campsite - great place to stay if you want to conquer Ryan Mt. Overall, our neighbors were pleasant and the bathrooms were well kept so no complaints.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
