Sandy Beach Camp in Johnson county is located just 21 min southeast of Cedar Rapids, IA with an elevation of 726 feet. There are a total of 58 campsites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of May to the end of September. 50 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 18 and 71 feet. All sites are currently reservable. 2 sites have electric and water hookups. 48 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $14.00 to $24.00.

Sandy Beach is always a great place to stay when we visit Iowa. Quiet, clean, and beautiful! Bob is a great host!

We were on the first loop which has fewer sites. The other loop has more sites which are closer together, some of them even share the driveway. I guess that's fine if you are camping with friends/family. There are two shower house/bathrooms which were clean. Good place for a convenient stopover. There are no trails but we drove to the state park to hike. There is also a public beach.

All was very good. We just would have loved to have seen the beach taken care of better. Combed out or sifted to remove some of the gravel from the sand. From past experiences also .... we remembered the beach being so much bigger but unfortunately weeds have taken over too.

Not a very good experience. Beach was washed away. Broken glass along shore and campers were loud and obnoxious

Power was out when we arrived and a work trailer was in our space. We had to wait for it to be moved and the power to be restored. Bathhouse showers were in need of cleaning.

Enjoy the area and return every year.Sites need attention. Especially grading and gravel to manage rain runoff.Mens shower had a very moldy curtain missing most of the hangers.

My family and I had a great stay. Showers were clean and had good hot water. There does need to be better signage about swiming. The signs make it look like you cannot swim but later we assumed it ment you just could not swim on the loading ramp. We asked around but no one could give us a good answer.

The campground seems like it's barely being maintained. Sure it's mowed and some dead trees were finally cut down but the electrical posts look old and dated. The campsites, especially the fire pits are not cleaned out between campers. The fish cleaning stations were all shut down. No information was posted on the campsite posts. The additional water spigots added a while back were certainly handy.

Sandy Beach campground was pleasant to stay at as usual. Our site had a steep drive and fairly short level area which was a little bit of a surprise. The grass was badly in need of mowing and the edge of our campsite was covered with ant hills. The shower house was clean and the campground was quiet. The camp host, who has been there for a long time was pleasant and efficient.

Clean park updated bathrooms kept clean great hot water showers. Not good for tv reception. Would like to see internet put into sandy beach as well as all other corp of engineer locations.

Our stay in general was good except for the company that were in there cutting wood. They drove way too fast through the campground on more than one occasion and were pleasant enough to flip us off on their way out after we called them out on it.

We stayed at site 14 in our 37' class A motorhome. This is a nice large pretty level site with a lot of shade. The campground is well maintained and quiet even on the weekends when it is full. The only complaint I would have at this time is that there were several low hanging limbs on the sites 1 - 20 loop that scraped the top of my motorhome. This was also the case at the dump station. If you have AT&T as your mobile carrier, the reception is weak and spotty.

They do a great job maintaining this campground. It's very peaceful and we enjoy it. The showers are amazing, plenty of pressure.
