My spot had a gorgeous view of the water and sunset. Spaces were kind of close together but I still felt like I had privacy. The attendants were nice to talk with. The restrooms were kept clean.There was plenty of firewood readily available.It was quiet and peaceful and the location is perfectly located between Solon and North Liberty. Was one of the last campers to leave for the year. They closed seemingly early to me on the last day of September.

Be aware the paved entry drive is STEEP and through 2 gullies (think 10% grade). The drive into the campground is about 1.5 miles. The site we had, #60, was an uphill back in, but once at the top of the small hill, leveled out enough that we were about 2.5 off side to side. With leveling ramps, it ended up OK. We stayed in this site 2 nights, then moved to site #63 for 8 nights. We purposely selected the second site because we wanted to be across from the dump station so we could use our sewer tote instead of having to move the trailer. The sites closer to the lake seem to be more popular and mostly flatter, but wed never been here, so didnt know what to expect. The campground grass is kept mowed and is clean with recycle bins for cans and plastic at the dump station. We didnt use the shower houses, so we cant speak to that.

Camping in September is a good time to camp. Being half full the park was overall fairly quiet. Also no waiting at dump station.

LOVE this campground!!! Only complaints I have are the acorns that kept waking me up and bothering my dogs, and that the maintenance crews don't scoop up the gravel that has been DISPLACED FROM the campsites ONTO THE ROADS, which I have to AVOID WHEN RIDING MY SCOOTER. Perhaps you could mention that a site has an oak tree right where you HAVE TO PARK THE RV!!!! The site would have been PERFECT in any month other than September! I am a 64 year old disabled woman that camps at Sugarbottom 3 to 5 times a year, and hopefully more in 2025! The Corps. does an EXCELLENT JOB KEEPING PUBLIC AND PRIVATE (individual) shower/restrooms clean! THAT MATTERS a great deal to me being DISABLED! Looking forward to the 2025 season. I will definitely be back!!! Have camped in what I call "B" loop (site #'s in 30's & 40's numerous times, and Site;s down by the lake (sites 60 +)! Next year I will be trying to camp in the Full Hook-Ups (300 - 314) in my new to me 5th Wheel)!!!! Have been using a 37' Motorhome for last 5 years! Thank GOD for the Corps! Would be really nice if Sugarbottom stayed open until Oct 31, weather permitting, like some of the Corps other campgrounds do!!! Fall is the best time of year as far as I'm concerned!!!

SITE 45 is paved but not LEVEL!.Overall, we loved our trip to Coralville Sugarbottom campground. Anyone who is contemplating SITE 45 should know that is is very difficult to find a level spot. We have a 24 ft camper and had to park diagonally and add a wooden step so we could get in and out of the camper safely.We've camped for several years in this trailer and have parked in a number of difficult spots, but it took us over an hour and the help of several friends to get parked.BATHROOMS: Older bathrooms nearest our site were fine, but had shower stalls and leaking toilets. The new bathrooms had "rooms" and were clean . we never had to wait.BIKING: Having a bike to get around the campground was great. Biking from the campground to anywhere else requires going up and down several hills and around blind corners along the park road to get to a bike trail. I would not do it at night!LOCATION: Convenient to several communities where you can find groceries, restaurants and plenty of small towns to visit. CAMPGOUND: Suguarbottom has several water view spots, mostly gravel sites. There are lots of trees and shade in most spaces. We'll be back!

The campsite was absolutely gorgeous on the lake. I have to be honest I didnt understand that it would be no water at the campsite, but once we got used to it, we were fine. There are just two of us, a family might feel differently!We loved our bike and I must say that the trails and Iowa were amazing. Their signage is less than perfect but once you find the trail. We wrote this cedar Valley nature area, the Iowa River Trail, and the Grantwood. We enjoyed them very much.

Sugar bottom seems to allow a variety of camp experiences: the fringes allow more space and quiet while the central area of the campground seems well suited to people wanting a more social experience.

Suger Bottom campground is on the beautiful Coralville Lake just outside of Solon, Iowa. A nice large COE park 300 + sites on paved roads we got a nice pull through hard packed gravel with 30 & 50 amp power service with water. We can see the lake thought the trees. We have good 3-4 bar T-mobile wi-fi. Super clean and well maintained park and campground. With 2 dump stations and a recycling center There is a mix of sites some have 30 & 50 amp power , water, & sewer with concrete pads. The road coming up to the campground is a little steep and windy in places but very doable, we got the 42 387FLF Durango Gold up here no sweat

We were not able to use the swimming area due to water quality. The pool in North Liberty was excellent.

Sugar Bottom is very well laid out and very clean. The Lake borders the campground as well. We stayed at a full hook up site with a concrete pad in a fairly new area however trees were still mature. The Iowa city area is close by as well for any shopping or entertainment. Kalona, an Amish area with excellent shops and an historic village is within easy driving distance as well.

OLD RELIABLE!! Clean sites, respectful neighbors, awesome beach, hot showers. It's always the first stop on every trip out west. Thank you for a good night's sleep!
@MikeM9721189 · Camped on Jul 22, 2024 at Campsite #163
Our campsite was very slim on gravel so we had alot of mud tracked in our camper. The swimming beach was disgusting. There was geese poop and piles of other animals poop in every section of the sand. I know the water was receding after being high but there is no excuse for not cleaning the beach sand of animal excretions daily. The shower/bath walls have paint peeling off and not appealing at all. It looks like someone put noncompatible paint over the previous paint. The water temp and pressure was good. The playground area is very small. We will not be back to this campground especially with grandchildren.

Great place, clean , super nice people and most of all, quite. I think small kiddie pools should be ok for the dogs. Highly recommend.

Beautiful tent campsite right on the water. Unfortunately, the campground does not enforce quiet hours and some campers were up partying VERY loudly until 1:30am. If you are looking to enjoy the sound of nature at night, look elsewhere. Very unfortunate since the location is beautiful.

Sugar Bottom is a beautiful campground. Great amenities and amazing surroundings.
@DebraE3D17C335 · Camped on Jul 19, 2024 at Campsite #28
The spot was very small and not flat. It was very hard to pull in without the truck going done in to the ditch. There was not enough room to park the truck as u cant park on the grass. So we had to go park It up by the Bathroom. The 50w plug was bad and arcing. We had to run off the 20w. The electric box was popping the breaker. If we used more than our AC. The park ranger came and looked at it said he would be back with tape, but never came back. The spots are so close to each other that kids were running through our site. We could not put our awning out because it was too close to the fare pit.
@KimH4415877 · Camped on Jul 17, 2024 at Campsite #73
Beautiful setting by the water. The only downfall was that due to the high water level, fishing and swimming was not the best. Not a fault of the campground.
@MarthaN0901498 · Camped on Jul 13, 2024 at Campsite #2
Even though you are surrounded by campers, the walk-in campsites feel secluded. The bath house was clean and water hot. We enjoyed our stay.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
