What a wonderful spot! I have views but I did have to hike all my gear up a small trail. Next time, smaller ice chest. It is at almost 10,000' MSL and so be prepared. They have a couple of bears that I did not see, they're a shower and food at the nearby resort. One of the best lake hikes around is about 2 miles away out of Mosquito Flats - Gem Lakes. Defiantly will be back. Camp hosts are wonderful and the restrooms were spotless.

Camp host were amazing! Caring nurturers at best! Couldn't ask for anyone better! Bathrooms are amazing and the whole campgrounds were clean. Very peaceful. Would return 100%

Campsites are difficult to find and not easily numbered, but our site was tucked away from the lakeshore, behind site #25. Bearbox has the site # marked. Requires some walking to get to the site from the parking lot. Otherwise, site is nice and mostly secluded in the trees and behind boulders. Surrounding campsites are close to the stream and lake. Restrooms also clean (flush and with sink). Host was friendly and informative. We used this campground as a launching point for backpacking to Little Lakes Valley.

This is a stunning campground, and the hikes around are even more gorgeous--be sure to check out Little Lakes Valley hike. The campground hosts were possibly the best campground hosts we have ever had. They went above and beyond to help us with our site, and truly made our stay magical. They were professional, generous, and incredibly hard working. Cannot recommend this campground enough! The lake front sites (#1-6) are the most beautiful if you are willing to walk your gear in a short distance. We definitely plan to come again!

An alpine lake, cool air during a hot summer heat wave, nice campsites and great camp hosts made for a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

Thrilled to have flush toilets, running water in bathrooms as well as (seemed like) heat!They are sort of walk in spots so expect to carry your gear a ways. Not far but more than just unloading by the parking lot. Beautiful setting, good spacing between sites.

Small, quiet campground. Lovely hosts. Very clean restrooms. Beautiful lake. Great hiking trails start from the lake.

High Elevation and an accessible nearby trailhead to Long Lake. A favorite for fishing & hiking. Very sincere & nice camp hosts doing an excellent job. Thank you

So peaceful, lots of mosquitoes and thunderstorms which flooded our site from 4-5pm every day we were there in June. A few sites dont have good drainage (site18) which could potentially leave you and your bags in a muddy mess. Thankfully we had a small hand trowel which the kids were using for playing in the beach, which freed up some debris and provided relief with drainage. Also be aware, fishermen here can be territorial with, unforgiving. We were told the water was not for playing in, moments later, man enters water with his rod. Please remember, we share this world with many species. Fish are not there for your consumption, waters can not be owned for your recreation. Water brings us life, we all depend on these waters. The waters depend on us to care and be respectful to them. We are ALL guests here. Come with an open heart, to be one with all those sharing this space.

Beautiful!The camp hosts were a lovely couple, very nice. But they mentioned that usually charge for a second vehicle. I made the reservation on line that clearly says that we are allowed 2 cars per site. They didnt charge us saying that they are supposed to but dont usually. Not sure where the disconnect is but. Its a little troubling.

Beautiful lake and area. The only thing I didnt like is that the campsite is separate from your parking spot for your car. Im used to having the parking spot and camping spot conjoined. I was looking forward to using a tent on my tailgate but my camp spot was a few yards away. That and all the cars are parked together like a parking lot.

Great site but only fits one tent!

Beautiful area. Watch the weather. 30 at night and 65 during the day means very cold night and hot days (the sun is very strong!). Fishing and hiking and good in the area.

QUIET AND BEAUTIFUL

Campsites are combined -- so you share the space with 2 other campers. In our case, one camper was quite considerate and nice -- we spent some time talking and sharing that was quite pleasant. The other campers showed up at sunset -- two families and at least 6 kids. Im not against children, having been one myself, but to not control your kids, have them not respect your space and run around and make noise until 10:30 PM was just rude. When they finally went to bed the adults stayed up till around midnight and always seemed to be talking in their "outdoor" voice (that is very loud). Having to get up early for a long hike, we certainly did not appreciate the noise. Campsite and lake are beautiful -- but your experience can be ruined if your campsite is joined with some bad neighbors.

Great place to camp. The two heated bathrooms (w/flushing toilets!) was a welcome amenity given the temperature in the am was mid/high 30s.
@MaryF8191441 · Camped on Aug 28, 2023 at Campsite #23
The site, (023), has wonderful views of and access to the creek and is well situated for solitude. The walk-in distance is about 100 yards; the host has several wheelbarrows available, which are invaluable for this distance. The tent pad accommodates one large tent; it might accommodate two smaller tents. There was an area which accommodated a second smaller tent (4-person). The picnic table was level and near the bear box, so very convenient for cooking. We were caught off guard about the walk-in distance, but felt it was worth the effort.

such beautiful area/ my campsite was a bit hard to find in the night when we arrived. But not bad.
@BobbieMCA9D1FB · Camped on Aug 10, 2023 at Campsite #23
The "campsite" was a parking space that was like a Safeway parking lot. The next campsite was 3 feet away parking spot.
@LYNNG7024398 · Camped on Aug 7, 2023 at Campsite #15
The host was not at his abode and was out fishing even though I'm certain he heard and saw me knock on his door. None of the restrooms had a drop of soap in them.
@AndreaB9285855 · Camped on Aug 6, 2023 at Campsite #26
What a beautiful campsite! The lake and creek are right by you no matter what site youre at. You have to hike into the campsite (I use that term loosely because its more like a short walk down a path) but there are wheelbarrows you can use to haul your stuff over which were very useful. I would definitely camp here again. Theres parking for extra guests or day visitors.
@DanM7848405 · Camped on Jul 23, 2023 at Campsite #22
Nice big site next to the creek feeding the lake. Only issue was how far the walk is from the parking lot to the car. I took a video and it was a 2:30 min walk carrying nothing. There are wheelbarrows to use, but even with it was a bit draining unloading the car to the site. So pack as light as possible. Other than that we had a great time!

Sadly, even after imposing a reservation system for Rock Creek Lake Campground, the campground was not being well taken care of and for such a popular location - it showed. Rock Creek will always be a special place to visit, but we'd like to see our fees being used towards actual maintenance and keeping this beautiful place clean for everyone (including the bears!)

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
