Clean, secluded, easy to reach, had gorgeous views. Bathrooms were clean, if a little rustic. Road full of potholes, not an issue for cars but maybe something to consider for larger vehicles.

Great campground. Campsite 14 nice. The stream runs right behind the campsite. It makes for great white noise to sleep to. No shade in the AM. Fairly shaded in the afternoon. The campsite is right next to the camp host (who was amazing by the way). It is small and not a whole lot of room if you have a bigger tent.

Ive been camping here for over 50 years and was happy to bring my grandchildren so they could also enjoy the experience. The fire pits are amazing (similar to solo stoves), fishing was great (caught 3 trout in less than one hour), and restrooms clean and stocked (for vaults they are very clean and not smelly). Overall loved our camping experience !

One of the best campsites I've stayed at! The views are outstanding and close to hiking trails (we hiked the Kearsarge Pass Trail). It was quiet at night and the bathrooms were some of the cleanest I've experienced at a campsite. Dominick, the camp manager, was awesome and very helpful! And his sidekick Stanley is the best boi. Definitely recommend staying here!

We enjoyed this site since it provides lots of shade and is right across access to the creek. The only downside its close to the road so you can hear the cars pass by at night.

Campsites are a little open but if you get one along the creek and in the shade it is an amazing experience. Just be careful to put everything away at night as it gets windy.

Very nice clean shady campgrounds. Fishing was excellent!

I have no complaints; the weather was hot & out of everyone's control. We actually stayed in Lone Pine at a park with electricity in order to use the RV air conditioner. We did drive up during the day to visit our camp site & it is a beautiful as I remember. I am currently looking to make new reservations for a cooler part of the year. Again, thanks for keeping this campground is such beautiful shape.

Very pleasant campground. The spaces are not right on top of each other. I was happy to say that from my tent I couldn't see anyone else.

Great campsite with creek nearby, ample hiking around as well.

When we arrived campsites were rundown overgrown, fishing was terrible because of being over fished by a recent tournament, the water was not potable or fit to do anything with. I planned this trip back in December to make family memories was disappointing. In the town below there was no where to get running to fill our fresh water tank or dump stations, I know its a law that stations must provide air and water? Nothing for miles. We had to haul RVs too Big Pine to dump which is inconvenient. Upper, Lower Grays meadows and Lone Pine campgrounds needs some major improvements. Note: This campground needs help! Camp Host wasnt a big help either. Very sad to see this location in the Sierras go to pot like this.

My family and I have been staying at Grays Meadows for over 25 years and this year (2024) was by far the worst. Booked online with Recreation.gov 6 months prior to our trip, showed up to our site #21 the brush was completely overgrown so far that it had overtaken the fire pit with no possible way too fit our trailer in the spot We drove down to obtain cell service as to get in touch with someone that could assist us in finding another spot that hadn't been reserved. However that was impossible. We simply drove back up to the campground and chose a spot that was not marked with a reservation sign and prayed that it didn't get reserved online while we were there. I couldn't find one site that was maintained with a simple clean up and rake. The bathrooms were deplorable to say the least. I truly hope this message gets to someone that can and will do something to manage this amazing campground as we would love to continue our family trips here for many years to come.

Very nice, mellow campground. Spots 10,13,12 are at the top of a hill. There is a sign that says RVs over 15 feet over not recommended. The listing needs to be updated to reflect that. Very steep narrow road going up to those spots.

I've camped here a handful of times now and each time has been absolutely wonderful. The views of the peaks are fantastic! The creek is beautiful and the sound of it is so great to fall asleep t and wake up to. The road in the campground is pretty torn up, but doable. Each site has a bear locker, fire ring, and picnic table. There are water spigots around the campground, but sometimes the water access is n/a, so always bring your own water for drinking/ washing dishes/ etc. The bathrooms have always been clean and not stinky, which I am thoroughly grateful for this!! Not many bugs, and most of the other guests are quiet after dark. This is an awesome place that's tucked away, but also close enough to town for provisions. And, it's a great base camp for Kearsarge Pass or any of the towering nearby peaks.

Campground was very nice, bathrooms immaculate. Site 27 not suitable for a 25 trailer. Had to take a more trailer friendly site. Great views.

Beautiful campground, just a few miles west of Independence, CA. We stayed in the Upper campground. The toilets are very clean, and the campsites are well maintained with bear lockers. Our campsite was next to a beautiful creek...the sound was so relaxing, we slept great. We caught some trout...delicious! We want to return.

Really awesome camp site. Has a ton of privacy and a creek runs through the site. Couldnt have had a better experience.

Highly recommend staying at upper grays, especially during the warm weather. It has a lot more shade, and less bear sightings. The camp was incredibly clean, including the bathrooms.
@DONALDR8407362 · Camped on Aug 16, 2023 at Campsite #12
Stayed for four nights. Most of the time the rest of campground was empty. All of the roads in the campground should be repaved.

Nice and quiet. Some site driveways are in need of repair.
@DebraK99593178 · Camped on Aug 4, 2023 at Campsite #9
Nice place to car camp. Site 009 small and shady. Perfect for one or two tents. Clean pit toilets and plenty of trash bins. Deer may roam through your site. Creek flowing heavy.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
