You will love it at Coon Creak, very nice beach at the camp site and also Shelbyville very close with a big beach. oat rentals near by. Lots of good food near by. A little store called castaways right as you pull into the camp ground.

A nice site looking over the water. Good shade. The site has a moderate side slope of 3 inches. Be careful with children, the back drops off sharply to the water.

We are really enjoying camping here. Site 036 was great.

The hosts are very nice and helpful at check in. The camp ground is very clean overall and its V great to have flush toilets that are kept CLEAN. This is a popular place to launch boats but the launch site is away from the campgrounds. Overall, we would definitely go back.

Awesome campground. Clean. Many large private sites. Gate attendants are typically grouchy.

The sites are nice being paved. They are narrow sites. We have 3 slides so you have to try to stay to one side and be able to get your slides out. So picnic table had to be pushed to back of the site. Not much of a fire pit. Site was right across from the restrooms.

Nice campground. Grandchildren enjoyed the playground, fishing and the beach. The campsite was nice and could get what we needed at the small store just outside the campground. We had a great time at Coon Creek campground.

Everything was good except the fish cleaning station is GONE! It's VERY inconvenient to have to tailgate clean fish or drive all the way to the Lone Point station on poor roads.

Wed come back every weekend if we could! We loved this spot and the campground as a whole. Everyone is spread out so no one is on top of one another. We loved having a corner lot and having so much space for our dog to run/play.There was a camp store right when you pulled into the campground, that was super convenient for the items you forgot to bring. Shelbyville is only 15-20 miles away so if you need a Walmart its there. We cant wait to come back! :)

Had a great time. We will be camping there again

Not a bad park. There are very few full hook up site, but we were lucky to get one. The site we had was a little tight and close to the other sites. Overall, the park is very large and spread out. It is well kept, clean, and for a weekend, very quiet. Bonus is the small, well stocked store just outside the park entrance, so no need to spend 30 minutes running into town.

We had a really great camping experience at this park. The cell service was good, and the campground hosts were fantastic. The only thing I would disagree with other reviewers about Site 14 is the "lake view" and the "beach access" from the site. The view is great in the fall when the leaves are falling, but we could only see peeks of the lake from this site through the trees. There was no access to the lake from our site. There is a path, but it stops, and there is a huge dropoff. Maybe if I was 15 years old again, maybe, but not now.

Coon creek has always been one of our favorite campsites. Even better since the revamp. Love having the beach right at the campsites, easy access for kayaks. Restrooms always clean and well stocked, even though campground was full. Also really appreciate new ability to reserve sites.

Everything was awesome up until the last day. When there was confusion on a site being reserved. We were told everything was good by gate keeper. Then on the last day we had a run in with a not so friendly guy who spoke to a 50 year old man terribly using very foul language in front of you g kids. He was upset about the site not being empty. We talked to the gate keeper who was not the ones we talked to earlier. He said the site was not reserved in the computer. Even though we had a parking tag saying different. The rangers were called. This man was very understanding but the 2 guys causing the ruckus was upsetting him too. I offered to pay for the site next to us but he told me not to mess with them. We started packing up a day earlier while waiting for ranger. In the meantime the guy who wanted the site caused more trouble with gate keeper. Spike vulgarly to him and slammed the window shut on his hand. The police were called. These guys had a tent and were just staying one night. Sunday. The ranger showed up told us not to worry the troublemakers had let and police were after them. By this time my son and his family of 9 were packed up and left. Afraid of what might happen later. I left with our boat but husband stayed. The sites in question were 60 and 61. It was a scary deal since we had younger kids involved. I felt sorry for the gate keeper. I think he was scared too.

This campsite was beautiful, went right down to the water and I was able to swim whenever I wanted. I was there for a week and it was so quiet and peaceful, it was perfect! Best vacation ever!!!

Nice bathing area, kind and courteous staff, a variety of campsites (from isolated to full hookups), and good maintenance makes Coon Creek perfect for anyone in the area. We drove 3hrs and found that almost everyone camping here was from nearby. Still, its worth it if you stay at least a few days.

A great place to camp on lake Shelbyville
@CarolynS304177 · Camped on Jun 6, 2024 at Campsite #17
Absolutely phenomenal spot. There is one tent spot on the grass, but an air mattress in a tent on the cement worked well. It is a large plot at the end of a cul-de-sac, and theres a trail that goes down to the water, which is a great spot to fish at. At night there are a ton of bugs, so make sure you bring citronella candles or a camp fogger.

we were in a section that had recently been renovated and had all new black top in the camp sites. It rained cats and dogs one day and it was great to have no mud or puddles to deal with.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
